Remarks

Overall the college is huge and pretty fun to be in good place to learn about life and education and make amazing friends. The negative parts being a govt college the aging tenured faculty can't do their best anymore.

Course Curriculum Overview

2.5

The course structure was 10 years old at the time i was studying which was very old especially for the computer stream. It wasnt chilled but, we used to have constant practicals, assignments and exams.

Placement Experience

3.5

Placement opportunities are pretty good only for the computer and IT streams of my college. Around half students of each batch in these streams usually get placed from campus. There are some tie ups with the goa board and some companies which provide internships having a stipend between 5k-10k

College Events

4.5

There are only 2 major events of the college. 1 is called Renaissance/Tandav which is in intra college event where all the streams/depts compete with each other in various activities like technical, cultural sports etc Second event is the biggest college event to happen in goa barring BITS events. Its called Happenings. Its the inter college event where all major colleges of goa participate to compete against each other in mostly cultural and techinal activities

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure is about 20 thousand rs per semester for the general category students. Its less for students of different castes as well as there are provisions for tution fee waiver schemes for students who's family income is very less. Their fees are usually around 3k per semester only

Fees and Financial Aid

Students below some pre-defined poverty line can apply for a scholarship which if gone through they have to pay only 50% of their fees, and also there are tution fee waiver schemes for the very poor students.

Campus Life

4

The college is pretty much standout out in their labs and space. Our college is one of the best in extra curricular activities which involves hosting one of the biggest inter college event of the state and also winning the 1st place in such events hosted by other colleges. There is a lot of cultural diversity where in there is some quota for students from the north east india who end up mingling very easily and are hardly discriminated. The gender ratio is pretty much 60-40 males to females in all streams except mechanical stream where it usually is 90-10 males to females

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni network is pretty big since the college is around 75 years old and meets about once a year to hold events and seminars to impart knowledge to the current generation of students. They are also a part of other events which go on in the college as judges etc

Admission

There is a exam called GCET which you have to answer. Only students getting more that 50% above in 12th boards are eligible ti answer this exam. After the exams a merit list is formed using the marks of physics and maths together. Then there are rounds held where students are called in order of the list and then they can select their college and the stream from the seats which are left

Faculty

2.5

Faculty was never up to mark barring a few exceptions. Since its a govt college most of the faculty are old and are on tenure and gotten used to never completing their assigned syllabus and leaving a lot to the students to learn on their own

Placement Experience:

Students can start sitting in placements from the start of 4th year , when the Placement Division starts bringing companies to the campus. The average package for CS is around 20-26 LPA, for Electrical branches it's around 18-24 LPA and for Mechanical and Chemical it is around 13-16 LPA. These figures would've changed though from the last time I saw. Around 85-90% of the students get placed usually. Top notch companies like Google, Microsoft , DE Shaw, Arcesium Cohesity Rubrick recruit students every year for the tech roles and other prominent companies like Flipkart, Sprinkle, Intuiut and Coin Switch come for managerial roles as well. There is even a chance of getting a PPO through Summer Internship Program which kikstarts in the 3rd year where students compete to get internship in these top companies. Overall , BITS Goa has impeccable placement statistics

I have no clue but the highest placements are in Computer and IT branches. Civil has probably the least placement. The quality is good thanks to IIT and NIT being in the same campus thus the big companies that come to those colleges also come to our colleges but they prefer those students more because NIT and IIT are more prestigious colleges.
