Remarks

Regarding positives of the College, It's aprestigious College in Karnataka with good blend of clinical exposure and academics. Regarding negatives, the infrastructure of College is poor, and there is no good supply of basic needs in hospital side. Hostel infrastructure is also poor.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

Regarding the course, it's 5. 5 years in total including 1 year of compulsory rotatory internship. Syllabus has 19 subjects. Each academic year having 3-5 major subjects. Examination will be conducted at the end of each academic year which includes theory papers and practical exam assessing the necessary skills. need to pass both separately.

Placement Experience

3.5

After completing the final year mbbs, one should undergo 1 year of compulsory rotatory internship where one will be posted to different departments in the College to acquire required skills. stipend will also be given during internship as of now it's 20000/- per month.

College Events

3.5

Every year in Mysore medical College, we organize a state level cultural program, it's called "saMMsCrithi". Wherein various cultural and academic events like singing, dancing, drawing, case presentation, quiz etc. will be organised and winners are given certificates and cash prizes.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fees structure will be decided by the state government. Since it's a government College, fees will be very nominal as compared to private medical Colleges. It's varies from one academic year to another.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions

Our College by itself doesn't offer any scholarships. But various schemes/plans of government do offer scholarship for mbbs students. But there will be caste and income criteria. To name, MHRD is one of them, which provides good amount of scholarship in each academic year till internship. But you need to score good marks every year to continue to get the scholarship.

Campus Life

2

Every year we organize a state level cultural program, it's called "saMMsCrithi". Wherein various cultural and academic events like singing, dancing, drawing, case presentation, quiz etc. will be organised and winners are given certificates and cash prizes. A national level conference will be held each year. It's named as "VAGUS". Many resource person from different parts of the country will be speaking on the theme of the conference. Apart from this, many itraCollege events are organised like "KREIDA", a sports event.

Alumni/Alumna

Guidance from seniors is a must in every courses especially MBBS. Many of us will not be from medical background, we won't be knowing dos and don'ts. So seniors play a great role. There is no toxic environment in the hospital. no ragging and seniors are friendly. There is a alumni association in our College called"MAA" which supports various events organised by the College and also provides scholarships to students. It encourages students to do research also.

Admission

As it's a government medical College, the admission will be through a common entrance test which consists of multiple choice questions. Questions are based on physics, chemistry and biology of 1st and 2nd PUC syllabus. according to the rank seat will be allotted.

Faculty

3.5

Mysore medical College and research institute has experienced as well as young faculties. Many have good command over the subject. Academics is good and regular classes, seminars will be conducted. So it's a good College with both academics and good case loads.

Course Curriculum Overview:

MBBS course is one of the courses that require at most hard work and perseverance. I had an interest to study about the human body and see how the medical life would be and after joining the course I realised how hard the course is. But since I could in the end help at least one person and make his/her life easier, I'm still moving on with the course doing the best I can. I feel all the doctors preparing for this course should take the course seriously as the lives of people are in our hands and every little mistake would cost.

Course Curriculum Overview:

• I chose this course as I liked Biology very much in my 11th and 12th and I also wanted to be a doctor since my childhood. • Faculty:student ratio in this college is well maintained. There is 1 faculty member over 25 students. • All the faculty are well qualified and experts in their fields. Some of the professors are functioning as scientists for the university and have reserved some patents for their researches. The teaching methodology is also very good and according to the latest norms set by the university. • Every year you have to go through some college-level exams ( Internal Assessment) three times. And you must score at least 50% as aggregate in each subject to be eligible to give the final University Exams. All the exams taken are as per the latest Revised Scheme for evaluation set by the university. On average the difficulty of exams is high. Regular studies and consistency can make anyone pass the exams .

College management is like all other college managements. Passing the buck was the usual game. We knew who to approach for what by the end of the year. There also seemed to be camaraderie among staff and management at some level depending who the dean or the principal was.
