Remarks

My college is almost 35 years old. And for an institution this old, it definitely could have better in terms of faculty and education. Top management needs to be changed. And knowledge oriented teaching should be adopted rather than an exam oriented one.

Course Curriculum Overview

2.5

The course curriculum offered by VTU is quite excellent according to me. Yet the university should focus a bit more on developing students' soft skills also.

Internships Opportunities

There is no scope for internships in my college. Any internships I've done is outside the college. The college doesnt have a system itself for internships. I heard very few students here doing an internships during the period of their studies.

Placement Experience

1.5

Placements in my college is pretty average too. Every year 10 to 12 companies come for placements, and this is including all the branches. I could say that a maximum of 50 students get placed through the college every year.

College Events

1

My college celebrates two major events, the Annual day and the annual technical fest. The tech fest was started just last year and since it was the 1st time I guess it was a success. The annual day on the other hand is an utter bore each year. Im not at all involved in my college events as I feel they are not worth it.

Fees and Financial Aid

No, my college does not offer any kind of scholarship. Any scholarship a student might get is from outside sources, maybe from the government or private organisations. The college should definitely try to improve in this area. They could offer merit based and need based scholarships to worthy students.

Campus Life

4

My college does not many extra curicular activities. Students have limited sources of entertainment and even academic related workshops and seminars. With reference to gender, ratio of females to males is almost equal. Race, color, religion is overlooked in my college and that is a good thing I guess. Yes there are some politics in favor of the local students but I guess that happens everywhere.

Alumni/Alumna

My father is an alumni of this college. They have a pretty strong network I guess because most of their alumni live abroad. I have interacted with other alumni too. Some of them are happy with the college while others are not happy with the college's progress.

Exam Structure

Exam structure and labs are pretty rigorous. Yes, having a lab on a weekday is quite hectic but I guess its good for us too as it makes us ready for the end.

Faculty

2

The faculty of my college is just average I would say. Many subjects are taught by below par lecturers, but there are also a few who are excellent and have deep knowledge of the subject. Teaching methods adopted could definitely be improved though.

Students become eligible for campus placements from the 7th sem. The highest on campus package this year was around 64 LPA, while as far as I know, the top 20% of the students usually get offers in the 16-24LPA range. The overall placement rate is good, but results depend a lot on your skills and practice

Course Curriculum Overview:

I am a tech-enthusiast and chip designing is something i have been keen to know about and hence i went in for ECE Course. The curriculum is just same as the other engineering colleges. Detailed enough to pass the semester end exams. Teaching methods and the equipments need to be changed. Its high time. While other colleges are using well designed new technologies for lab experiments, ours is still stuck on the old methods which is very frustrating as we dont receive accurate results that affects our performance.
