Remarks
College is good and impressive only infrastructure and placement problems need to be tackled. The teachers are very cooperative and supportive. The college has a very good brand value, but for the past few years it is deteriorating. Some serious steps in technical and placement aspects are needed to be adopted in order to elevate the college reputation.
Course Curriculum Overview
I believe that our academic course curriculum is excellent and up to the mark in many aspects. I cannot say about the curriculum of other branchee but the course of my Mechanical engineering branch is satisfactorily matching the demands of the industry and the current technology. The Course curriculum in our instituition is strictly based on the directions and guidelines of the AICTE (All India Council Of Technical Education). So, I would give a 9 out of 10 in curriculum. The exam pattern followed by our college is quite good. I have personally observed that exams in my college are always conducted sincerely. The teachers do not entertain even an ounce of cheating or unfair means. In each semester we have an end semester exam, two mid-semester examinations, internal practicals and external practicals. Each subject holds 150 marks in a semester, where 70 marks are for theory paper, 20 marks are for mid-sem exam, 10 marks for assignment, 20 marks for internal practicals and 30 marks for external practicals. The students' marks are then converted to grades and credits.Based on these credits and grades the GPA Cumulative is calculated. Thus, this is the structure of our college's exam pattern.
Placement Experience
The placement opportunities in Jabalpur Engineering College are fairly good, if not excellent. There are a good number of students placed from each branch. But the problem is that the average package assigned to the students is quite less as compared to other reputed colleges. The placement opportunities are very much needed to be improved. No, our college do not provide internship right now. However, it reimburses the expenses incurred in pursuing the training or internship from outside.
College Events
The college has enthusiastically conducted several big events which adds another feather to its crown. Some events are annual like "Aavahan" which is an annual sports fest, while some are random like "Helix", The Alumni Reunion Event. These events are very vibrant and are appreciated by many dignitaries too. The college is also host to many inter-college feativals and evwnts.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Our college being a fully State Government institute offers the degree courses at very affordable fees. There are genuinely no complaints about the college's fee structure as even the marginalized and deprived but meritorious student can also afford easily to study in this college. So, Fees are very feasible. On a scale of 10, I would give it a full 10.
Fees and Financial Aid
The college has introduced the scholarship scheme, this year itself to one meritorious student from the college. Under this scheme one exceptionally brilliant student will be awarded a scholarship of 14000rs. I believe the college further needs to enhance the scholarship facilities so that more number of needy students get the benefits of scholarship.I would rate the college for this feature as "Average".
Campus Life
The labs in our instituition are good but not perfect. The equipments are provided, practical knowledge is also imparted but many of these equipments are not well maintained. Further the lab assistants and quite unqualified. Sports in our college is very upto the mark. We have an annual sports fest named "Aavahan" .The other extra curricular activities include workshops, trainings, hackathons and many more.
Hostel Facilities
I would rate infrastructure at 6 on a scale of 10. The hostels are really pathetic and do not provide adequate lights and mess services. Further the buildings' walls are also old and shabby. The grass and surroundings are not not maintained properly. The college management ardently needs to take a note of renovation of hostel buildings.
Alumni/Alumna
The Alumni Network of our instituition is very strong and appreciable. We have an association naming "Jabalpur Engineering College Alumni Association" which is a well to do network of JEC alumnis till date. This alumi association is very helpful as they always readily contribue towards the development and renovation of the college.
Admission
I got admission in Jabalpur Engineering College on the basis of merit, that is on the basis of the rank secured in Joint Entrance Examination (JEE MAINS). The admission process in this renowned institute is quite subtle and transparent. Just as the rank list of JEE MAINS examination is released, the counselling process begins. First step is to register online on MPDTE (Madhya Pradesh Directorate of Technical Education). The counselling process consists of two rounds. Each round provides us the opportunity to fill in the colleges of our own choice and preference. On the basis of merit, I was alloted Mechanical Engineering in Jabalpur Engineering College . Then we had to appear for verification at the college along with all the original documents. Upon successful verification, the admission process is complete and thus my admission into this college was secured. Since Jabalpur Engineering College is a Government institute, the admission process is strictly on the basis of merit and no other means like donation or management quota is entertained. Thus in this way, I got admission in this college.
Faculty
The faculty of our college is very well experienced and cooperative. Nearly all the teachers are PhD holders and have a decent command on their subject. There is some problem with lab assistants which are quite less educated and arrogant. Rest, all teachers are fairly good in all aspects.
