Remarks

Overall the college has been pretty great for me. I have learnt a lot from this place. It can be better and I'm hopeful it will improve. There a lot of opportunities which students aren't aware of. You have to be conscious to make the most out of the college.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Computer Science has always been in demand since the breakout of virtual tech. There are a lot of opportunities availble but you have to be aware or else you'll miss out a lot. You have to work side by side or else your skills won't be enhanced.

Placement Experience

4

The Tnp cell is pretty good. And there are a lot of opportunities for CSE. A lot of companies visit the college and for off campus drives, the arrangements are made too. Internships are provided by college and they are pretty good but unpaid. There is a great amount of learning but stipend is not there in majority of cases.

College Events

4.5

There are a lot of societies in college which keep on organizing events every other week like ISTE, Indian Society for Technical Education and SCIE, Students Chapter Institution of Engineers. There is annual Tech Fest called, Atharva and annual cultural fest too called Anand Utsava.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure is mediocre, its neither too cheap nor too expensive as compared to other Engineering colleges. There are fee waiver schemes available for those who have a weak economical background. And there is also alumni scholarships available for the scholar students.

Fees and Financial Aid

There are fee waiver schemes availble in college and they are based upon the economical status of the student. If the net income of the household is less than 6 lacs per annum then the student is eligible for Fee waiver scheme. The alumni scholarships are also there which are updated on the websites regularly.

Campus Life

3.5

There is a football ground, a hockey ground, lawn tennis ground, basketball ground, badminton ground and a sports complex for indoor games along with a cricket ground. The sports facilities are very amazing and there is theatre artists too. The labs are pretty decent and can be better with some upgradation of systems.

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni is very helpful as they organize alumni scholarships and advice the committie on how to improve the college for students. The seniors are also very friendly and helpful. There is no ragging and there is a very friendly environment.

Admission

Based upon JEE mains rank, there was an online counselling in which one can participate remotely. The admission process is very easy. Once you qualify the cut off rank, you are informed about the choice of branch you can get and then make decision accordingly.

Faculty

3.5

The faculty can be better in guiding students. There are a few good teachers who help a lot but overall faculty can be improved. There is a lack of effort and it can be disheartening sometimes. Overall you have to keep working upon yourselves throughout to survive.

Placement Experience:

NITJ has a placement cell, also known as the Centre of Training and Placements(TPO office of NITJ). The placement scenes differ depending on the courses offered. The average placements are 12-14LPA in the Computer Science branch. Every year, hundreds of companies, including Pvt and govt both. PSUs like HPCL and BPCL recruit students based on merit and academic excellence.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I’d rate the curriculum like 7/10 in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness — it covers all the major CSE subjects like DSA, OS, DBMS, CN, AI, ML, Cloud, Cybersecurity basics, etc., and honestly that was one of the reasons I chose this course because at least the core subjects are solid even if PTU keeps some old-school stuff in the syllabus. The curriculum does prepare you for real-world stuff, but only to a point — like, if you focus on coding labs and projects you’ll be fine for internships, but if you depend only on classroom theory then it won’t help much because industry wants hands-on skills. For higher studies also it’s okay because theory depth in subjects like OS and DBMS is decent enough. But yeah, improvements are definitely needed — some subjects feel outdated, teachers should use more practical examples, and we need more real projects instead of copy-paste lab manuals; also some faculty teach directly from slides which gets boring fast. Exams come twice per semester (sessionals) plus the final end-sem around December/May; they’re mostly easy if you write long answers, but tricky if you rely only on understanding because PTU likes theory-heavy questions. Overall, the system works, but it could be way more practical and industry-focused.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
