Living the Indian Dream- IIT Bombay

All in all IIT Bombay is the best college in India any aspiring engineer could ever hope for. The experience and growth that one experiences in these 4-5 years of engineering are incredible. They could do something about the reservation though.

The course structure is good although some improvements can be made. We are mostly graded based on several quizzes, mid sem, and end sem exam. In my opinion, they should reduce the number of written tests and increase the number of projects and practicals for a better learning experience.

IIT Bombay is known for its placements. In my cranch placements are generally 90%+. We can get internships in our 3rd year of engineering through the placement cell which is approached by many companies and universities looking for interns. I am in my second year so I haven't had an experience yet. Stipends generally lie between 10000-1.5 lakhs per month INR

IIT BOMBAY is known for many flagship events. Most famous are Techfest and Mood Indigo which are Asia's largest technical and cultural college fests. Our Entrepreneurship cell also organizes E- Summit where many entrepreneurs got guided, funding, etc and many successful entrepreneurs reveal their experiences.

Feasible. Tuition fees are 1 lakh INR per semester and hostel and mess fees are 25000 INR per semester. If you belong to reserved categories or you are unable to pay due to your family's financial conditions, you can get up to 100% fee waivers on tuition fees.

As stated in a previous answer, if you are from a financially unsecure family, or belong to a reserved category, you can get up to a 100% tuition waiver. You are however expected to pay back the amount after you graduate and are able to so as to keep the scholarship available for future generations.

IIT BOMBAY offers a great variety of extracurriculars. If you are interested in any sport like cricket football basketball badminton squash table tennis lawn tennis hockey n many more, you get all the facilities needed to excel in them. We even have an Olympic size swimming pool. Similar opportunities are available in many other fields like culture ( singing-dancing dramatics). We have many labs with state of the art technology.

Hostel rates are 25000 per semester. It includes a room on two sharing bases as well as a subscription to mess service providing 4 meals a day. The rooms have beds, tables, chairs, and a cupboard for personal belongings.

Senior students are really helpful. They have been through the same experiences so they guide us as to how to go about it. Each student gets a mentor in their first year for any trouble they may face. Our alumni are well established in every part of the world. From CEOs to Politicians, we have them all. They come back to their alma mater several times to guide youngsters.

Admission is based on an entrance exam ( JEE ADVANCED). You need to qualify for JEE Mains to appear for JEE ADVANCED. I secured rank 1114 out of 1.2 lakh candidates who had qualified for it out of 15 lakh candidates.

They are all incredibly experienced in their field and well renowned in the world. Most of them count among the top few in their respective fields. It would be hard to find better faculty in India. They have done amazing research.
