Remarks

The management is over-aggressive about the sports activities. Especially, when the college reputation is at stake. Many workshops and seminars are also organised in the college. Many festive celebrations are organised right within the campus, which is generally organised by the student organisations.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The college fee was almost negligible, at 1300 INR per year. On top of that, the facilities provided are also above par in terms of government college standard.

Fees and Financial Aid

Mahavidyalaya allows fees concession to the poor and deprived as well as meritorious students. Extraordinary sport persons are also exempted from tuition fees

Campus Life

3.5

The campus life is not good, especially the hostel life. Even the atmosphere is not safe for the girls. I have seen many girls been harrassed by the boys.

Hostel Facilities

3

The hostel facility is also available for the students of the college. There are two boys hostel and one girls hostel. The hostel allotment is on the basis of merit list, which the superintendent decides. Lot of politics goes on with the allotment of hostel seat. You have more chances of getting a hostel if you better connections, or as they say “better reference”.

Alumni/Alumna

An annual alumni meet is organised by the Alumni Association of the Mahavidyalaya. The purpose of the meet is creating a bridge between old and new students to cater educational, social and cultural exchange. It also helps in assessing the feedback of the Alumni for the betterment of Mahavidyalaya.

Admission

Candidates have to download the application form from the official website and submit the form along with all the relevant documents and then wait for the call from the college.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I think I'm a curious student. Integrating biology with technology is interesting Recently we are studying animal tissue culture plant tissue culture which is superb. Generating a plan from a single cell is truly something interesting. I was drawn to genetics and biotechnology application . This curriculum prepares a student for research and industrial purpose . We get to do lab experiments project work under professors. In my opinion improvement can be done by industrial visits Exams take place at the end of each semester and we have mid sems in between

However big scale IT companies come here and students of Computer science Hons have had placements worth 6-10 lakhs easily. My plans are to appear for the job interviews but not taking any as I want to study more.

College does provide internship opportunities both through the placement cell as well as department faculty. Semester 5 and Semester 7 students are eligible for placements. Average package is about 5.5 lakh per annum for microbiology course. Although placement percentage is on the lower side majority of students go for higher studies. Many prepare for exams like GATE, IIT JAM, etc.

college placements are good in this college with a number of good financial and consultancy firms coming in with new gen companies as well in the service and sales industry. moreoever getting a good placement in a top financial or consultancy placement requires a POR in a good society as a criteria, its not really required but adds to your chances of getting it. moreover you require to participate in a number of case study competitions for the same as well. my plans after graduation is probably working for a year or two after which i plan on doing my MBA. around 50-60% who apply get a placement.

In today's competitive job market it becomes important for the college to not just help students get degrees but also provide them with placements and internships so that they can have the experience needed to stand at a competitive footing with the rest of the candidates in the world. To look into this, St. Xavier's College has a Placement Cell run by Placements officer Mr. Niladri Sinha under whose guidance, various companies visit the college regularly looking for capable young minds to take under their wing and help provide them with the necessary exposure and experience so that they can combat any obstacles that they face.

Many students do not opt for placements and go for higher studies but many students who opt for it, get placed with decent packages. Many well-known companies visit the campus as well.
