Remarks
This college is one of the best colleges in Tamil Nadu. It encourages the students to take part in all activities and be all rounders. It provides a good environment for academics, sports, research. The campus is also very beautiful with a lot of trees and amazing landscaping.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum was good. Our course had a combination of mechanical concepts and electronics concepts. Our college follows a choice based credit system. Using this system we can decide the number of courses that we can study per semester and choose the desired electives. We had to pay exam fees for each semester. The fees is quite nominal.
Placement Experience
The placement opportunities is quite good. The placement percentage is almost 90% taking into consideration all the students who have no arrears. Many companies come for recruitment. Around 75% students get placed in IT companies like TCS,Wipro, Infosys, CTS etc. some folks get placed in core companies. As far as internships are concerned, many students get intern offers with a decent stipend. The conversation rate is also pretty good.
College Events
The college organises many technical and non technical activities. An inter college technical fest called techutsav is organised every year which includes many workshops, events and competitions. An inter school cultural competition is also conducted every year. In addition to these each department organises their very own technical and non technical events.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The semester fee is very feasible and affordable. For government aided courses the fee is under 10k per semester. For self financing courses the fee is around 50k per semester. For merit management quota the fees is slightly less than a lakh per semester.
Fees and Financial Aid
I personally have not availed any scholarships. However there are many scholarships available to the students. Students with financial constraints are asked to apply. Their forms are scrutinised and after an interview, scholarships are allotted.
Campus Life
The campus is huge and accommodates various facilities for sports and extracurricular activities. There is separate building which accommodates badminton courts, a gymnasium, a basketball court , table tennis, judo etc. In addition there is a big ground for athletics and cricket. The lab has state of the art equipments in the respective departments.
Alumni/Alumna
The alumni network is very strong. There is student scholarship program for the students with financial difficulties. This program is fully sponsored by the alumni network. The old students contribute a hefty amount during the jubilee batch celebration event.
Admission
I applied for the Anna university counselling process. Based on my mark the university called me for the common window counselling held in Anna university Guindy campus. There I chose mechatronics department under self financing quota. I had other options such as civil and IT for my mark. The college also offers a merit management quota. I applied for this quota also. But since I got my seat in counselling i did not choose the merit management quota. In the merit management quota the college shortlists students and call them for interview and make selections accordingly. The fee structure is slightly higher for Merit management quota in comparison with the other quotas
Faculty
The professors and all the other staff are very experienced in their domains. Most of the professors have doctorate degrees. Many professors have patents filed for various projects. The professors encourage the students to take part in various competitions and paper presentations.
