MAKAUT (formerly WBUT) passing marks out of 70:

for theory papers conducted out of 70 marks at MAKAUT:

minimum passing marks = 28 out of 70 (40%)

the internal/sessional component (typically out of 30) requires a separate minimum. for the combined total (out of 100): minimum 40 marks overall to pass, but you need to meet both internal and external minimums separately.

failing the 70-mark end-semester exam (scoring below 28) results in a KT (back paper) even if you have good internal marks. check your specific MAKAUT syllabus/regulations document for your batch as rules may vary by scheme. your college's exam section has the definitive rules for your enrollment year.

There are no fixed passing marks out of 77 although you have to score above 40 marks overall. Scoring less than 40 will get you an F Grade which is not acceptable. The passing marks also depend on the minimum marks your professor will be giving in internals.

Usually, professors always give at least 10-12 marks in internals so to stay on the safe side, try to score at least 30 marks in the theory paper out of 70. If you follow this technique, you won't have a single backlog in 4 years and get a BTech degree with 8+CDGPA.
