What advice would you give to a freshman at IIT Kanpur?

First-year students of IIT Kanpur or any other institute are prone to distractions and thus need a disciplined approach to not lose focus.

• Make sure you have a good CPI throughout. Everything eventually boils down to your CPI, be it placements, higher education, or anything else.
• It’s a common experience for students to get a setback in the initial years considering the drastic change in the level of physics. You need to be patient and adapt yourself to the high-level courses.
• Apart from your wingmates, befriend your batchmates in your department as well. This will help you form a study group during exams.
• Don’t question your decision. Trust me, this is the best department you could be at. The opportunities offered will shape your career perfectly.
• Balance out your academic stress with some extracurricular activities and enjoy your college life to the fullest.
