I will always suggest you give preference to the branch over the college. NIT Jalandhar and NIT Raipur are better colleges for CSE than NIT Patna and NIT Silchar. Another good option is ECE at NIT Allahabad or NIT Calicut as most of the companies let ECE students sit for software engineering roles during placements.
I am strongly against you joining mechanical engineering if you are already getting CSE/IT/ECE at NITs. Ultimately, it’s your preferences that will help choose the best college!
First, you should decide what kind of Finance job you want after your graduation. This will make choosing the right institute a little easier.
Core finance: This includes job profiles such as the following.
Financial products sales - This includes job profiles as the following.
Get in touch with the alumni of the institutes via Linkedin or other social media platforms and get to know about the job profiles, in-hand salary, job sustainability, etc. Based on what I heard from my friends, I will say Kirloskar, PIMBA are better than NDIM.
NIT Rourkela is better for a Masters in Geology. It offers better facilities. Geology department has well-equipped labs with latest technologies. The campus has an active research environment. There is cutting-edge ongoing research in the field of Earth and Atmospheric Science.
Although NIT Rourkela is the better option in terms of academics and research culture, IIT Bhubaneswar has a locational advantage. Due to this advantage, it's easier to get projects and placement opportunities.
The career growth offered by the new IIMs is difficult to analyze as they haven’t been established for long. One cannot infer their worth easily as its alumni are yet to establish themselves in the corporate world. It will take a few more years to determine the growth of CEO alums career-wise.
If you are concerned about the general job prospects, try going through the placement reports of these IIMs. You will get a general idea of the packages and roles offered.
To know if the new IIMs are worth going for, you need to check what you are expecting from these B Schools. If you are looking for basic learning and a small push to kickstart your career, the new IIMs will benefit you. But if you are on the lookout for high ROI, the new IIMs may or may not satisfy your expectations.

JIMS (Jagan Institute of Management Studies)has good visiting faculties from SRCC, LSR and other DU reputed colleges. The syllabus pedagogy is up to date with industry standards but suffers from lack of industry exposure. The institute also brings in sales roles in reputed firms like YES Bank, Standard Chartered, 99 acres etc.
IILM Lodhi Road offers a full-fledged MBA degree recognized by UGC instead of a diploma. The curriculum followed is inspired by reputed institutes around the world like Stanford, Wharton etc. Excellent in campus hostel facilities and a mentorship program for new joiners into the institute. It is popular for its offering in marketing roles and faculties in the marketing and sales domain.
IMS Ghaziabad consists of Atal Incubation centre to encourage entrepreneurship and business-minded individuals to start their own firms. There are smart classrooms, and the campus is WiFi enabled. The faculties are highly qualified and knowledgeable.
From above we can almost conclude that all three colleges are similar in facilities and placements. Choosing any one of the three would be a good decision for pursuing an MBA degree.

Facilities:
Both these colleges offer excellent placements along with lots of opportunities. It is upon the students which college they would like to opt for among these two.
As these are two distinct branches of engineering, you should pursue a topic that piques your interest.

| Course Fee | 13.23 lakh | 6.39 lakh |
| Highest CTC | 20 LPA | 8-10 LPA |
| Average CTC | 11 LPA | 6 LPA |

IIT Dharwad is a recently established institute that attracts fewer companies and has a small alumni pool. On the other hand, BITS Pilani has graduated more than 50 batches.
The best option would be to take ECE in BITS Hyderabad or ENI in BITS Pilani. The reason I am against you joining a new IIT is that these IITs are not well-known among big companies and some recruiters don’t even consider them worthy of visiting. They know that these IITs can never be at par with the old ones. So it’s better to look beyond the IIT tag and go for BITS Pilani, an excellent choice indeed!
Some of my friends studied at MNNIT, so I might be able to answer your question. It is suggested that you choose Mechanical at MNNIT Allahabad rather than Civil at NIT Trichy.
Your branch of choice is more important than your college preference. In terms of opportunities, Mechanical Engineering has a slight advantage over Civil Engineering
Mechanical at MNNIT Allahabad has a consistent placement record. Mechanical students receive more job offers than Civil Engineering graduates. PSUs often choose Mechanical Engineering graduates.
| Categories | Civil at NIT Trichy | Mechanical at MNNIT Allahabad |
| Course Fee | 5.65 lakh | 6.55 lakh |
| Highest CTC | 22 LPA | 18-20 LPA |
| Average CTC | 9 LPA | 8-10 LPA |
| Recruiting Companies | IOCL, BHEL, Honeywell, Aricent, etc. | Aditya Birla, Info Edge, Phillips, Reliance, etc. |
Finally, everything depends on your interest and choice. So think wisely and then make any decision, because this will be the building blocks of your career.
