Does NMIMS select the best NMAT score?

AD
Anuraag Das Posted On : April 26th, 2023
Studied at MBA from NMIMS (2020)

Yes, NMIMS selects the best NMAT score for admission to its various management programs. NMAT (NMIMS Management Aptitude Test) is an entrance exam conducted by GMAC (Graduate Management Admission Council) for admission to various MBA and other management programs offered by NMIMS and other B-Schools in India.

NMIMS considers the candidate's best score out of the multiple attempts made in the NMAT exam for admission. The selection process for admission to NMIMS typically involves the following stages:

  1. NMAT Exam: The first stage is the NMAT exam, which is conducted over a period of 75 days in multiple slots. Candidates can take the exam up to three times, and the best of the three scores is considered for admission.
  2. Shortlisting: Based on the NMAT score, candidates are shortlisted for the next stage of the selection process. The shortlisting criteria may vary based on the program applied for and other factors such as academic background, work experience, etc.
  3. Group Discussion and Personal Interview: Shortlisted candidates are invited for a group discussion and personal interview, which is conducted to evaluate their communication skills, leadership potential, problem-solving abilities, and other relevant skills.
  4. Final Selection: Based on the performance in the NMAT exam, group discussion, and personal interview, the final selection is made for admission to NMIMS.

Therefore, if a candidate takes the NMAT exam multiple times, NMIMS will consider the best score out of the attempts made by the candidate for the purpose of shortlisting and admission.

B-tech from Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya, Bhopal

The following is the procedure for obtaining an original degree from the University via offline mode:

  • Download and print the main degree form from the RGPV website's download forms section.

  • Fill out this form completely.

  • Make photocopies of all of the semester's grade sheets.

  • Visit your college and have your form, as well as all photocopies of your mark sheets, attested by the principal or head of the institution.

  • Bring all of the above documents, as well as the original mark sheets, to the RGPV office near Bhopal airport.

  • Write an application to the RGPV registrar, explaining why you need your degree as soon as possible.

  • Get your challan of 250 from the Union Bank of India, which is located just behind the university's building on campus.

  • Submit your attested degree form, attested mark sheets for all semesters, application for an urgent degree requirement, and Rs. 250 challan on the first floor. They will collect all of your documents, give you a student copy of the challan, and direct you to the second floor, where you will be asked to return in a week.

  • Return to campus and go to room 501, show them your student copy of the challan, and ask for your degree; they will give you your degree. They then request that you go to the registrar's office and have your degree verified.

  • If you want to travel abroad, you must go to the Ballabh Bhavan (Higher Education Department) for verification.

  • They give you a form, which you must fill out and submit photocopies of your class 10th, 12th, and 8th-semester mark sheets, as well as a photocopy of your passport's first and last page and a photocopy of your original degree front and back.

After having your documents verified here, you must go to the HRD ministry in Delhi before traveling abroad for the same verification process.

Is SIBM Bangalore worth considering?

PP
Pratik Parikh Posted On : July 26th, 2023

As a professional who was looking to give a push to his career, I had the same doubts regarding SIBM Bangalore when I made it to the first shortlist of every Symbiosis MBA college except for SIBM Pune.

I scored only 70 percentile in my CAT and 90 percentile in my CMAT which were not good enough scores to get me a seat in a Tier 1 or 2 college. Fortunately, my SNAP score (94 percentile) was good enough to get me a call from Symbiosis colleges, most of which were Tier 2 MBA colleges.

SIBM Bangalore may not have a big campus, but, it provides you with innumerable opportunities. As a SIBM Bangalore student, you will undergo great personality development. There are various co-curricular activities that you can be a part of.

You can join various clubs and committees or go for roles such as Bloomberg Champion or  Student Research Assistant. As a student, you will be at the center of all the college activities.

SIBM Bangalore is an amazing place to grow as a person and become even more confident and active in grabbing the opportunities that come your way.

BPUT has a very simple and clear formula for converting CGPA to percentage. It is-

percentage= (cgpa-0.5) * 10

For example, you attained 7.57 CGPA.

In this case, your percentage will be (7.57-0.5)*10= 70.7%

This is the method of conversion followed by BPUT. You can also find it on their official website.

BITS Pilani provides 2 types of scholarships to its students.

  1. Merit Scholarship: This scholarship is granted on the basis of your CGPA in the ongoing semester. On average 10 students from every batch get 100% off and another 10 students get 40% off on tuition fees. Students are required to fulfill the cutoff to become eligible for this scholarship.
  2. Merit cum Need scholarship: This considers two factors; your CGPA and your parent's annual income. If your family income is less than 10 LPA you are eligible for this scholarship given that your CGPA is above 7. Here, the scholarship is directly proportional to your CGPA.

How difficult is it getting a CGPA of 9.5+ in 1st semester of BITS Pilani, Pilani Campus?

SG
Shayash Gupta Posted On : June 28th, 2023
PhD from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani (2016)

My cousin managed to score a GPA of 9.69 in the first semester at BITS Pilani and claimed it not to be as challenging as everyone claims it to be. In fact, in her batch, almost 50 out of 1100 students had a GPA >=9.5 and 9 students had a GPA of 10.

Every single degree student except EEE has to study the following subjects

  • General Biology(3 units) (Specific)
  • Electrical Sciences(3 units ) (Specific)
  • Mathematics-I (3 units) (Common)
  • Technical Report Writing (2 units) (Specific)
  • Workshop Practice ( 2 units) (Specific)
  • Physics, Chemistry, and Biology Lab (1 unit) (Common)

Here, specific means EEE and dual degree students don’t study these courses, common means the courses they have in common. In all, you have 16 units which makes a total of 160 points. In order to score a 9.5+ GPA, you will have to score more than 152 points

Lastly, to get full marks in tutorial tests, make sure you are regular in classes and focus on the ongoing topics.
