Will BITS Pilani get an IIT status?

DR
Deepshikha Roy Posted On : July 3rd, 2023
studied at Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani

No, I don’t think BITS will ever get an IIT status. The IITs are no longer the statement because their brand value has been diminished owing to their increasing numbers. The reason why IITs gained fame in the first place was because of their exclusivity which has been hampered now.

BITS on the other hand will never choose to dilute its brand name as it stands high with the Birla brand. It has been maintaining its exclusivity and the IIT status will do no good to its reputation.

Which is better BHU or AMU?

ST
Sakshi Tripathi Posted On : November 15th, 2022
Studied at Banaras Hindu University

BHU and AMU are sister concerns. Both institutes carry forward the same legacy so I don’t think they are comparable.

People usually want to believe that these biased universities will divide Hindus and Muslims and worsen their relations. But that’s not the case.

Both universities are loyal to their cause- Education.

As an AMU student, my sister loves her university. She has never visited BHU but she is sure BHU students love their university equally as well.

So I don’t think the two universities stand a chance of comparison when they both are equally good.

VP
Vedika Pandey Posted On : November 15th, 2022
Studied Agricultural Science & Spanish (language) at Banaras Hindu University

Banaras Hindu University is a prestigious agricultural sciences institution. The institute has made numerous contributions to Indian agriculture and has numerous scientific accomplishments. Agriculture is a vast area in India, and there is a need for major breakthroughs to increase crop production, not just rice and wheat production, and food security.

After graduating from this institution, you will have many opportunities to pursue your interests.

  • ICAR-JRF - If you want to pursue further education, you can take the JRF exam in the subject of your choice. IARI is a dream institution, and only the best students are admitted. Every year, many BHU students attend IARI for M.Sc Ag in various fields and other agricultural universities.

  • BHU Postgraduate BHU students are given reserved seating. Admission to BHU M.Sc Ag is no longer easy. Internal quota seats are available to BHU students.

  • MBA Master's in Business is another route that students can take. There is a good environment for MBA preparation here, and many students get into prestigious institutes like IIM-Ahmadabad, IRMA, TISS, NIBM NAARM, and many more.

  • BANKING Every year, IBPS invites applications for Agriculture officers. In recent years, there has been a trend in BHU to prepare for IBPS exams, with approximately half of a batch going into the banking sector. Many students also study for the FCI, NABARD, and State PCS (for District Agriculture Officer) exams.

  • PLACEMENT Many private firms, dairy companies, private banks, non-governmental organizations, and seed and fertilizer industries offer graduates lucrative packages. Students who are looking for jobs right after graduation usually apply for them.

  • MS, approximately 3-4 students apply for MS each year. The institute has a large alumni network of students who are studying at universities in the United States and Australia, and they are used to motivate and guide students interested in pursuing postgraduate studies at any foreign institution.

As a result, not only does the Institute of Agricultural Sciences BHU provide a better scope, but it also provides a better alumni network and environment for overall development. The institute is the most sought-after institute at BHU. Studying agriculture here is a life-changing experience.

How does CS at IIIT Hyderabad compare to BITS Pilani?

MR
Maulik Raichura Posted On : February 27th, 2023
Studied Post Graduate Diploma in Management at Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management, New Delhi (Graduated 2021)

Comparing IIIT Hyderabad and BITS Pilani cannot be done in terms of with as both are reputed institutes. However, they can be compared on the basis of individual parameters.

For instance

  • Campus: BITS
  • Placements: IIIT Hyderabad
  • Coding: IIIT Hyderabad

Now it’s up to you to decide which factor will affect you the most. In my opinion choosing IIIT Hyderabad over BITS Pilani is a no-brainer as IIIT Delhi is the best when it comes to CSE. Its curriculum is designed exceptionally well. Apart from this, it fairs well in terms of modern technology, infrastructure, faculties, placements, and greater opportunities for higher studies and research. The only institutes that give IIIT Hyderabad an edge are IIT Bombay and IISc Bangalore. You are bound to gain a lot of fun experience and knowledge at IIIT Hyderabad and won’t regret joining it ever.

However, this definitely does not mean BITS Pilani is not any good. It’s just that the outcomes offered by both institutes are different. If you want to go for MBA or Government Services in the future, BITS Pilani is a good choice as it offers a wider range of opportunities in contrast to CSE at IIIT Hyderabad which is suitable only if you want to stay in this field till the end.

How is life at Amrita University Coimbatore?

PJ
Prakash Jha Posted On : June 17th, 2021
B-Tech Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science, Amrita University (2020)

I have a friend who attended Amrita University and here’s what he had to say about life at the campus.

Academic Life:

  • The course curriculum is great and the standards can be even compared to IIT.
  • The faculty are knowledgeable and will help you with everything. However, self-study, your efforts, and participation in events and competitions, etc. will teach you so much more.
  • The labs are great and have all the necessary equipment. They also allow you to use the labs after academic hours with due permission.
  • The library is huge and they also have many online subscriptions.
  • The exams come pretty fast. But if you practice daily and prepare with proper strategy, then exams become quite easy.

Campus life:

  • The campus has three academic blocks (AB1, AB2, and AB3) and one business block (MBA).
  • The campus is beautiful and covered with greenery.
  • The campus has three major and four minor canteens. The bigger canteens are in AB1, in between AB2 and AB3, and one in the MBA block. There are also four minor canteens.
  • The institute hosts a three-day tech fest called Anokha, each year in February. The college also hosts other festivals such as Adaviya, a theatre fest, and so on.

Hostel life:

  • The rooms are better than many other colleges in the vicinity. The rooms are shared by four persons till the third year and only in the final year, you will get a single sharing room.
  • The hostels have their own gyms, open ground, canteens, and an Olympic size swimming pool. The food quality is average.

The weekdays go in a blur from waking up in a hurry, rushing to the class with breakfast in hand, attending 4 classes, lunch break to the sleepy classes after lunch. In the evening you can hang out on campus, play some sport or take long walks.

On weekends, students usually go out to the city to catch a movie or some even go home. Life is good at the campus, you will be busy with many activities.

Alliance University is a great option for MBA aspirants as the foreign exposure you get through the program is worth the effort.

  • You get to interact with geniuses from countries like Russia, Poland, South Africa, and also the USA.
  • The parity of the faculty cannot be doubted as they are experts in their fields. They prepare you for the harsh realities of the corporate world.
  • The syllabus is very different from that of other universities and emphasis is laid more on practical implementation than theoretical knowledge.
  • Students can make the most by attending the classes regularly as the classroom learning experience is very dynamic and more than enough.

All in all, MBA from Alliance University is really worth it given that you are willing to commit yourself 100%.

How good is the Machine Learning course at IIIT Bangalore?

BG
Bidita Ghose Posted On : October 10th, 2023
Lives in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India

The Machine Learning course by Upgrad and IIIT Bangalore extensively covers ML and AI. All the necessary topics, from Basic Mathematics and statistics to Deep Learning and Graphical Models, are included in this course.

It isn’t a certificate program, rather you’ll earn a PG diploma. Unlike other MOOCs, this course demands serious effort from participants. It is a year-long rigorous course. Mathematics, SQL, and Python are well-taught to lay a strong foundation. The professors are well-experienced, and frequent live sessions are conducted for doubt-solving.

Assignments are topic-relevant, and their submissions are taken seriously. The TAs are supportive. You’ll be assigned a mentor to help you with non-academic queries/issues. Frequent sessions are held with industry experts to equip students with information on the latest developments in the field.

The assignment timeline is very rigid, and modules are released only on Sundays. So working professionals may suffer some inconvenience with this course.

Are AIIMS, PGIMER, and JIPMER overrated?

SS
Shridhar Sriraman Posted On : September 21st, 2023
Lives in Pondicherry, Puducherry, India

No, I don't think excellent medical colleges like AIIMS, PGIMER, and JIPMER are in any way overrated. They deserve the hype they receive. The patients consider JIPMER doctors as the human form of God. They trust them blindly and also respect them a lot.

Apart from the highly experienced and educated doctors, JIPMER has some amazing facilities. Most of the departments are well-established with highly qualified doctors. The best department of JIPMER is said to be Pediatrics with the best doctor pool.

As far as academics are concerned, the UG curriculum is well-organized. The students are taken to clinics regularly and are confident about their basic clinical skills. The best past us exposure to all sorts of cases from Male breast cancer to life-threatening emergencies and all kinds of surgeries and non-surgical cases. Recently JIPMER has started focusing on specialized surgeries in the Super Speciality departments.

The campus life is great and the hostel facilities are no less than 5-star hotels. Students are allotted single rooms and the campus is green and beautiful.

Considering everything, facilities, education, and campus life I feel JIPMER is not overrated at all.

LNCT Bhopal is among the finest colleges in Bhopal. According to some of my friends studying there, the placement coordinator of LNCT is very cooperative as well as favors the students.

  • The placement opportunities at LNCT Bhopal are tremendous.
  • The major companies that come to hire are Infosys, Cognizant, Wipro TCS, Capzemini, L&T, Tech Mahindra, Amazon, Amdocs, etc.
  • Most of the students are recruited by these companies.
  • You should not worry about getting placed here as they guarantee placements to all students.
  • It is advisable to opt for the main campus during your admission.
  • Priority is given to the students of main campus therefore opting for it would be a wise decision.
Categories LNCT Bhopal
Placement Percentage (overall) 70-80%
Highest CTC 24 LPA
