- The duration of the course is five years. It is a long-term commitment. You can’t exit the program after three years. Choose this program, only if you want to do an MBA.
- The course is expensive. IIM Indore IPM fees are around INR 4 lakhs.
- If you want to specialize in a particular subject during your UG, then this is not the right course for you. The first three years of this course are general for every student.
The coursework of IPM is hectic. It won’t leave you with much free time to pursue any interest or hobby.

How is the hostel life of IPM students at IIM indore?

Would you chose Ashoka University or IIM Indore's IPM programme?
You don't have much of a problem if your interests are in the sciences or literature and you don't have a preference for business or management. Clearly, Ashoka is the superior choice. In a similar vein, IIMI is the better choice if business/management or their related fields are of interest to you. Although neither is firmly established, Ashoka offers a more liberal arts university environment while IIMI offers a more business school environment due to the inherent structures of the programs and institutes. Because it is a liberal arts course, the IPM course is fairly nuanced. The Ashoka courses are no exception, particularly those in economics and finance.
IPM's undergraduate program has no concept of "major" or specialization, just like the MBAs at IIMs. Math, statistics, economics, social sciences, and communication are all required subjects. In the end, Ashoka is a liberal arts college and IIMI is a business school. Even the most widely studied subject, economics, will be taught and learned very differently in each location. Again, you'll have to decide which you like best.
It's conceivable that Ashoka has the resources to send you to Ph.D. programs. Given the substantial alumni presence in business, IPM might be better able to place you in professional settings. Having said that, they are not mutually exclusive; you can pursue a Ph.D. after IIMI or an MBA after Ashoka.
What do you have to say to a student who just got into IIM Indore's IPM program?
My friend is a senior at IIM Indore for the same course. As a senior, he has the following pieces of advice and recommendations for his juniors.
- Spend quality time with your family and friends before joining. Do things you have been willing to do for a long time but couldn't. This is because once you begin your hectic life here, you won't get time for anything else.
- Refrain from being a part of any clubs and fests in the initial year. Rather focus more on academics.
- Your peers will be from diverse backgrounds. Some may find it difficult to interact with them. It's okay if you don't befriend them just don't look down on anyone. Everyone here is a genius who has made it into an IIM after many struggles. On the brighter side, peers from all over the country add to the experience and fun.
- Try to make the most out of the library of the institution. You have a prior subscription included in your fees so you are free to explore the huge variety of books here.
- Read the IPM Manual given in the orientation thoroughly.
- Inculcate some extra skills like Excel or typing that might come handy in the future.
- Don't hesitate from approaching the professors for any kind of doubts. They are very humble and cooperative.
- Seek help from our seniors as they are more than ready to help in any situation.
- Last and most important, learn basic E-mail writing etiquette before the actual program begins. This will save you from embarrassing yourself in the future.
All these points will help you avoid some major blunders committed by seniors. But remember everyone makes mistakes in their college life. What matters is how you tackle it and what you learn from it.
What is the total annual expense of IIM Indore IPM Programme?
The IPM fee structure is different for domestic and international students.
As per the latest update on 16th June 2023, a resident Indian student is charged Rs. 5 Lakhs per year as course fee, for the first three years of the IPM program. Rs. 711 is payable per year as medical insurance premium, and Rs. 54,000 is payable each year as mess deposit.
Rs. 50,000 is payable in the first year as a refundable caution deposit. This amount is refunded on completing 5 years of IPM. This brings the grand total to Rs. 5,54,711 per year (Rs. 6,04,711 for 1st year). As for the 4th and 5th year, the fee will be charged on the basis of the updated PGP fee structure for the 2026-2028 batch. As for now, the course fee for the same is Rs. 10 Lakhs per year.
