How is M.Tech in cs at ISI kolkata in terms of placement and academics?
One of my friends is currently in his first year of M.tech CS at ISI Kolkata. Here are some crucial insights regarding the academics and placements according to his experience.
Academics:
- If you have a CS background in your under graduation too, then all subjects in the first year will be mostly repetition for you. You can also check the exact list on the ISI website. However, many people with a CS background say that they have learned things in a much-refined way.
- In the second year, you finally get to choose subjects based on your interest which will help you in your final thesis.
- ISI is quite famous for cryptography but you can also find good thesis projects in prestigious fields like Machine learning, Image processing, Algorithms, VLSI, cognitive science, etc. Also, you get good guidance in all of these.
Placements:
ISI is particularly famous for statistics. So, most companies coming for placements offer Data science profiles. Very few companies would be offering developer job roles. So regarding the placements, it’s the best place to grab data scientist roles with lucrative packages. In the recent placement highlights, the average and highest CTC offered was 19.80 LPA and 42 LPA.
Overall, ISI Kolkata is an amazing place to pursue your M.Tech in CS. The great academics and placement record indeed make it a haven for students associated with CS, mathematics, and statistics fields.
Which one's better for mechanical/electrical engineering, IIT Ropar or IIT Bhubaneswar?
According to media reports, the highest package offered during IIT Ropar placements was INR 50 LPA. Previously, the median package offered during IIT Ropar BTech placements 2021 was INR 12.4 LPA, according to the IIT Ropar NIRF report 2022. Furthermore, the placement rate for IIT Ropar placements in 2021 was 74%. ISRO, DRDO, ONGC, Indian Oil, Hindustan Petroleum, Bharat Petroleum, Tata Steels, Tata Motors, General Motors, Larsen and Toubro, Indian Navy, Coal India, SAIL, Hyundai, and many others are previous mechanical department recruiters.
In terms of location, IIT Ropar is well-connected to cities such as Delhi, Chandigarh, Mohali, Shimla, Jalandhar, and almost all of northern India. It is close to Chandigarh, a well-developed city with an international airport.

How is IMS Unison University, Dehradun, for an MBA?
IMS Unison is famous for its placement records and one of the first universities to adopt the SAP ERP solution for completely streamlining all academic courses. How was your interview experience at IIIT Delhi for an M.Tech in Computer Science?
This is how my interview at IIIT Delhi for M.Tech CSE went-
At first, we took an MCQ based aptitude test. The allotted time was divided section-wise. After that, around 160 people were shortlisted for an interview, and 6-8 panels were formed. Every panel asked a different set of questions.
I was asked about my background, and the reason for doing an M.Tech. Then the professor asked me for the subjects I was confident in. I chose DS and Algorithms. I had to come up with a suitable data structure for a situation. I had to also write a code for the same. The professor kept on modifying the constraints, and I modified the solutions accordingly.
It was an intense discussion. At the end, I was asked if I had any questions. Finally, he told me to go. Some panels asked questions on OS, DBMS, CN. Some candidates were even asked questions based on their current job.
Though I wasn’t selected, the interview experience was quite good for me.
Why do people not consider SIBM/SCMHRD Pune at par with other prestigious MBA colleges despite the fact that they rank among top 20 of India?
Most of the top B-schools in the country select candidates on the basis of CAT and to an extent, XAT. Since the aim of all the students is to get into the old IIMs, so there are a lot of amazing candidates who only sit for the CAT. Since the only way to get into SIBM/ SCMHRD is through SNAP, there is a perception that the best candidates do not prefer to go into these institutions, which is not necessarily true but might explain the public perception. Also, with the introduction of a number of subpar colleges under the Symbiosis umbrella, the value and prestige of SIBM and SCMHRD have declined in the eyes of the general public.
SIBM and SCMHRD are amazing institutes, but the public might not consider them on par with other prestigious universities due to the above-mentioned reasons.
How is the production and industrial engineering at DTU?
Production and Industrial Engineering is a specialization branch of Mechanical Engineering. Most of the subjects are similar in both branches. DTU is a good college in India. Students securing decent JEE Mains rank are able to get admission in it. This branch has good prospects for the future in DTU.
Most people are concerned about future prospects in the branch they choose. For production and industrial engineering at DTU, these prospects are good. Many companies that recruit mechanical engineers are also open to this branch. In today's world, most of the jobs are in the IT sector. These companies want people with certain skills. They do not care about the branch of their employees. DTU has a good coding culture. Most of the students practice computer programming. There are clubs and some groups of students who help their friends and juniors to learn skills. These skills help them to make a good resume to impress the recruiters. If one has an interest in working in core companies, then also they have a chance at DTU. If one maintains a good academic profile and an exceptional achievement record, he is sure to get a core job.
This branch also includes learning of management skills which are very helpful. Students of this branch can also appear for GATE. This way they can get jobs at PSUs or complete M.Tech in this branch. The location of DTU is also a boon for the civil services aspirants. Delhi is known to have top coaching centers for civil service preparations. So the people aiming to crack UPSC can also opt for this college. Thus, if you see all advantages of opting for this branch in DTU, then it is quite a good option.
Who is the best professor in CSE department, MNNIT Allahabad and why?
MNIT has had quite a few good teachers over the years but some of them have really resonated with the students to leave an everlasting impact on our minds. Some of the most reputed teachers of the institute according to student reviews are as follows.
- Ranvijay Singh: Professor Singh has a really thorough knowledge of his subjects and one of the few teachers who deeply care for their students. You can also approach him for extra classes in case of any difficulties even if it is not his subject. He is also great at career advice and a teacher who just wants to genuinely help and is truly one of the best teachers of CSED.
- Neeraj Tyagi: Professor Tyagi was quite instrumental in developing my friend’s interest in networking. In my friend’s batch, he did not teach this subject but did so for IT. He was also fortunate enough to get to work with Tyagi sir and completed quite a few projects under his guidance. One of these included FTP quota on server accounts. He is open to learning new ideas and keeping himself updated, discussing things, quite accessible, and a humble teacher.
- BD Chaudhary: It is quite possible that professor Chaudhary has retired now but he used to teach databases. His classes were miles apart from other teachers. He was a professional at teaching, much like an IIT professor, and would make you understand even the minute details of the subject. You would never feel like missing his lecture. His test papers were also quite different where he set a single 100 mark question for the half-yearly exam. He would instill the hunger for learning in students.
These were some of the teachers that made college memorable for a few of my friends. You can hope to see a few of them taking your classes too.
How is MCA from Anna University?
A valid score in the Distance Education Entrance Test is required for admission to MCA. There will be no better place to study MCA than IITs and Anna University.
Anna University offers a good MCA program. The institution is as excellent as its staff members. The team there is extremely helpful. One can work on difficult projects, build algorithms, and present them. Anna University, as an elite and reputable university, provides ample opportunity to learn and explore.
You can expect a reasonable salary of 3-4LPA, depending on your skills, knowledge, and work experience. It is also important to consider the company where one is placed. Anna University is the top MCA college.
MCA is an option at Anna University. It's the better option.
How are the placements in Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Technology?
Dr. B.R. Ambedkar institute of technology, Bangalore, the college is AICTE recognized and it is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU). It is ranked 251 for BTech by NIRF 2020. It is a private college and the institute has 14 research centers, 10 undergraduate programs, and 11 postgraduate programs. The college is UGC and NAAC approved. Along with good academics, the institute offers decent placement opportunities to the students.
Teachers who are in college are highly qualified. They have immense knowledge about the course. The college classes are interactive and there are frequent seminars held so that students can learn effectively. Most of the faculty members have their PhDs and are well-experienced. The faculties also help the students to get prepared for the placement drive.

What is the difference between Tezpur University and Gauhati University?
The main difference between Tezpur University and Gauhati University is that the former is a central university while the latter is a state university. So, TU has a residential campus, central funds, and better infrastructure compared to Gauhati University.
In terms of quality of education, there is no such difference between the two universities. GU being the older university has better experiences. However, TU has improved a lot over the years. Both universities are well recognized in India.
