What is the best way to prepare for NCAT (NICMAR Admission Test)?

HN
Happy Nair Posted On : October 25th, 2021
studied PGP ACM at National Institute of Construction Management and Research

I have a few friends from NICMAR. Here is their insight on how to do well in NCAT (NICMAR Admission Test).

  • For the written examination consult R.S Agarwal books. Learn the basics. You can also read other aptitude books as well.
  • Try to give a few mock tests. It will help you figure out the right strategy for attempting different sections during the test.
  • Stay updated with current affairs. It will help you during GD too.
  • Try not to leave any questions in the written examination, since there is no negative marking.
  • Work on your communication skills. The faculty will mostly judge you based on your performance in GD and PI sections.

The difficulty level of the exam is not that hard. Try to perform well in the personal interview as your selection will mostly depend on that.

Is IIIT Sri City really as promising as they say?

AK
Apoorv Karthik Posted On : March 18th, 2021
Studied Computer Science Engineering at Indian Institute of Information Technology, Sri City (2020)

IIIT Sri City is a promising institute. The points that make it different are as follows.

  • Senior-Junior interactions are very engaging. Seniors guide and aid their juniors in every possible way.
  • Coding culture is emerging in the institute. There is also a newly set-up programming club for organizing creative events and boost-up the spirit of students.
  • Research work is very rigorous in IIIT Sri City. Students in the past have tremendous contributions in the research field like NLP, AI, etc. Even a few have published in international conferences.
  • IIITS has a better and rigorous curriculum than other institutions of India. Lessons imparted to students in the initial trimesters give the students an edge over others.
  • Students here are very enthusiastic. They work hard and are motivated enough for success.
  • Students are allowed to drop a semester for the internship, but they cannot skip it.
  • If students are aware of their interests, they can take-up Hons and do research in a field, and an obscure student can take up the BTP program. Students get a chance to hold two degrees, one is B. Tech, and the other is a Hons degree.

Drawbacks:

  • Improper infrastructure as most of it is under construction. No proper facilities are available.
  • The curriculum of college is decent, but the tuition fee is high. The faculty has no experience.
  • No proper internet facility is the saddest part. The network is improper in the campus and the hostels.
  • Mess food has no taste. The quality is poor. The city is also far-away.
  • Competition based on grades among students.
  • No proper sports facilities or extra-curricular activities.
  • The location is such that it is isolated from the city. It is amid the village Tada, 80 km from Chennai.
  • 85% attendance is compulsory.
  • Placements are not decent. The main reason is the location. There are no good companies visiting the campus. The figures are as follows.

Average Package

10 LPA

Highest Package

22 LPA

To conclude, the academics are good. But the institute will do so much better if it could overcome these drawbacks.

Is Jaipur National University good for an MBBS?

RD
Raya Das Posted On : October 22nd, 2021
MBBS from Jaipur National University (2021)

It is a well-known fact that each and every college has its good and bad side. The same goes for Jaipur National University. Though it is a good college, let me discuss some pros and cons of the college, which will help you understand it better.

Here are some of the points that will give you an idea about the MBBS course here.

PROS:

  • The institute has a really good infrastructure.
  • There are plenty of cadavers for practical training.
  • The faculty is really encouraging. They try to make their teaching methods better by giving importance to the students' feedback.
  • The labs and classrooms are well equipped with modern and updated instruments.
  • The hostel is good and the management is cooperative enough.
  • There is a strict no ragging policy, which everyone abides by.

CONS:

  • The course is a bit new, is less popular among students, which could incline to the negative side.
  • The hospital has a nice infrastructure and staff but is located on the outskirts few people tend to visit it.
  • Being located on the outskirts, traveling becomes time-consuming and costly if you are living in the city.

The teaching process is really good here, as most of the faculty members are highly experienced, with years of educational experience. It is suggested that if you are unable to get admission to any Government colleges, you could then go to Jaipur National University.

Exams and Tests: What is the best way to prepare for NCAT (NICMAR Admission Test)?

AS
Anamika Sinha Posted On : April 28th, 2023
Studied at National Institute of Construction Management and Research (NICMAR)

NICMAR Admission process gives the maximum weightage to NCAT Exam (150 Marks). It has three sections which are as follows:

Preparation Time: 3 Months

  • Quant: R.S Aggarwal or equivalent aptitude books will be best for this section. Some questions are really easy that can be solved in less than a minute. If you want to maximize your score, practice moderate-level questions of other MBA entrance exams. Be thorough with percentages, allegations and mixtures, ratios, time speed, and distance, and like topics as questions are asked from these topics.
  • Data Interpretations: There are multiple books available for Bank PO Exams in which such sets are available. You can just go through them. It is sort of a puzzle so you will have fun doing it.
  • Verbal and GK: Reading Comprehension is very easy. Just practice a few comprehension available in any competitive exam book. This section also tests your vocabulary as synonyms and antonyms questions will be based on your vocabulary. GK questions are really easy and you’d have read them somewhere even if you are not a news freak. To sum up, if you read the newspaper daily and practice a few comprehensions, synonym antonyms, and grammar questions, you are more than ready for this section.

In NCAT, speed matters the most. You should solve the easy questions first. Do not waste your time if you are finding any questions tough. Just move on. Most importantly, you should improve your grade in UG. Participate in competitions and earn certification. Nothing much can be done as what you have done earlier matters here.

During the personal interview, brush up on your basics of civil engineering (concrete and building material especially). The basic HR questions will be asked like why do you want to join NICMAR, what are your long-term goals, etc. They also test your speaking skills by giving you a topic to speak on. So, you can also practice it as it will be good for you in the longer run.
