Which is better: BITS Pilani Hyd mechanical or VIT Vellore CS?
Rather than focusing on the institutes, it’s best to give importance to your branch. I know a friend who gave up on BITS Hyderabad Mechanical production for core Mechanical at VIT. When I asked her the reason she told me that for her it was the branch that mattered more and VIT offered the branch of her choice.
So I will advise you to do the same. Analyze where your interests lie and choose the institute accordingly.
What is the base salary if we complete CS from NIT Rourkela and get approximately 7 CGPA? What is the average package I can get?
I don't think many companies even consider CGPA as the criteria for evaluating your eligibility to get placed. CSE students especially have to work on their coding and problem-solving skills more than their CGPA. I am not saying CGPA does not matter at all, what I mean is it's not the main criteria. You still need a good CGPA to qualify for the cutoffs set by companies. Most companies are okay with a decent 7 while some even let you sit with a CGPA around 6. Only a few government companies like CDOT and DRDO, set high cutoffs. The number of companies expecting a high CGPA is usually very low.
One of my friends at NIT Rourkela stated that there is no direct connection between your CGPA and the package you receive, rather it all depends on individual skills. If you are a CS student, bear in mind that your interviewer will expect good coding skills in any of the high-level programming languages like C/C++/Java, etc., a strong grasp of data structures and algorithms, basics of operating systems, and some fundamental theoretical concepts of database and networking. Such skills will overcome even your low CGPA.
NIT Rourkela CSE average package 2023 stood at INR 21.87 LPA . So it can be said that as a NIT Rourkela student, if you have a CGPA of 7+ you will be eligible to sit for placements of most CS companies but your chances of selection depend on the skills you developed through the period of 4 years.
Which is best for computer science, NIT Warangal, NIT Suratkhal, NIT Trichy, IIITDelhi, or DTU Delhi?
It’s highly illogical to compare DTU or even IIIT Delhi with the top 3 NITs that enjoy the status of Institutes of National Importance. The NITs are second only to the IITs and fall in the same league as old IITs and BITS Pilani. They are way ahead of these Delhi colleges in terms of exposure, placements, and coding culture.
Despite a huge batch size, DTU has limited offers with good packages. While NIT Warangal has a small batch yet a huge number of students getting above 20 LPA.
NIT Surathkal has an excellent record of GSOC Selections while DTU is not even among the top 12 engineering colleges in terms of GSOC selections. Additionally, NIT Surathkal is the first campus that ATTLASIAN visited for placement.
Overall, the top 3 NITs are way superior to DTU and IIIT Delhi in terms of peer groups, academics, research, return on Investment, NIRF Ranking, campus life, and brand value.
Personally, I will recommend you to follow the following preference order
NIT Trichy CSE>NIT Surathkal CSE>NIT Warangal CSE>NIT Surathkal Information Technology (IT)>DTU CSE>IIIT Delhi CSE
How is IIT Indore CS in terms of campus, placement, and college life?
My cousin is a student at IIT Indore and is in the CS branch top. Let me share the little information I have regarding the institute.
- Campus: Spread across 550 acres, the campus is beautiful and lush green. The campus has a modern design and facilities with excellent accommodation facilities too.
- Placements: IIT Indore has an excellent placement scenario and its statistics are comparable to the old IITs. The packages offered and visiting companies are more and better than top NITs. CS is the only branch that secured 100% placement with the highest CTC at INR 48.5 LPA and the average at INR 30.32 LPA.
- Cutoff: IIT Indore has been witnessing an increasing cutoff proving the improvement in the quality of students it attracts. This year the opening rank for CSE is 1144.
- College life: IIT Indore has a vibrant and fulfilling college life with various clubs and extracurriculars for the holistic development of its students.
The campus is forever lively with something or the other happening like fests, joint fests with IIM, coding events, musical nights, DJ nights, festivals, food fiestas, etc
IIT Indore has managed to establish itself well in the IIT race and its excellent work culture in collaborations with big international institutions like CERN signifies its worth and credibility.

Which is better, NIT Trichy CSE or NITK Suratkal CSE, considering academics, campus and college life?
Although both NIT Trichy and NIT Surathkal give constant edge to each other it’s NIT Trichy that has a slight advantage over the latter. However, the difference in the institutes is based on certain parameters.
Academics-wise, NIT Trichy is better as it attracts a better crowd of both students as well as recruiters.
But when it comes to campus life, NIT Surathkal overtakes NIT Trichy easily. NIT Trichy faces a disadvantage due to its location and extremely hot climate while NIT Surathkal has a pleasant climate and a more relaxing campus life. They also have a private beach and the institute is in close proximity to Manipal and Mangalore. Although college life varies from person to person, the fact that you will be enjoying your life better at NIT Surathkal cannot be overlooked. NIT Trichy has a huge campus but the hot climate makes things worse here.
In all, if you give more preference to academics choose NIT Trichy but if you value a good campus life equally then NIT Surathkal seems to be better for you.
I have got CSE at JUET, Guna, should I go for it?
There are various pros to choosing JUET for B.Tech computer science.
It is above average in terms of CSE education and placement. The Department of CSE has a Computer Graphics and Multimedia Lab, a Programming Lab, a Data Mining Lab, a Database Lab, and a Network Lab among other infrastructural facilities.
JUET Placement is conducted centrally for all four universities. Corporate Placement opportunities for B.Tech CSE students are ample. Packages can go as high as 24-25 LPA, the average package being 3.75 LPA.
Giants like Infosys, Cognizant, and Wipro recruit employees for IT positions from across all the branches (CSE, Civil, Mechanical, etc.)

Among these, Amrita University is better for studying CSE. It has a well-structured campus and offers decent facilities to students. Amrita University placements are good for CSE. Each year around 85% of students get placed through the campus drive. The salary packages offered are in the range of INR 3.5 LPA - 35 LPA. Google, Infosys, Microsoft, etc. are among the major recruiters.
