Is MMU Mullana good for an MCA? I have completed my graduation in BCA with a 78% aggregate. Which is better CGC Landran or MMU Mullana?

DR
Devdeep Roychowdhury Posted On : February 16th, 2021
Studied at Maharishi Markandeshwar University, Mullana (2017)

An institute can be marked as good or not based on many factors, Quality of teaching, infrastructure, facilities, etc. MMU Mullana is good for MCA, as they provide good infrastructure and almost all basic needs.

The table below gives a brief comparison between MMU Mullana and CGC Landran.

Particulars

MMU Mullana

CGC Landran

Campus

150 Acres

3 Acres

Course Fees (MCA)

2.94 Lakhs

2.62 Lakhs

Eligibility (MCA)

50% in BCA (general)

50% in BCA (General)

Key highlights:

  • MMU Mullana has a huge campus of 150 Acres, with several kinds of facilities including Fast food, canteen, books, library, etc available inside.
  • For sports lovers, facilities for both indoor and outdoor games (especially football) are provided.
  • There are issues with the management for the unavailability of proper support. For students wanting to get information or academic data, they have to wait for 2 days to get their work done. There was no proper online portal before to check the basic information.
  • The faculties are not up to the mark. There are teachers of computer science who don’t even know the basics of C programming, which is quite dissatisfying.
  • Most teachers are just graduates and don’t have enough teaching experience too.

Considering all the facts, MMU Mullana will not be a good option for MCA.

Which companies visit the CGC Landran?

SM
Spandita Majumder Posted On : April 20th, 2021
B.tech Computer Programming & Computer Hardware, Chandigarh Engineering College (2019)

There are numerous companies that come to visit CGC Landran around the time of campus placements.

  • Branch-wise, when you consider CSE and ECE, you will notice that more than 50 different companies visit the college. Some of the major and popular ones include Google, Microsoft, Amazon, and Flipkart.
  • Keep in mind that these companies will offer really great packages but select a handful of lucky students only.
  • A few other companies like Wipro also visit the college that will recruit almost an entire batch of students looking for jobs, however, this is probably not something great as they focus on mass recruitment.
  • TCS and Wipro are the companies where a maximum number of students are placed. They offer decent packages.
  • You can expect to have a high package of INR 35 LPA and an average salary between INR 3 to 4 LPA.

From my knowledge, the packages for other streams are somewhat similar.

What happened on your first day at CGC Landran?

AC
Anwesha Chatterjee Posted On : June 17th, 2021
B.Tech from Chandigarh Engineering College (2018)

One of my cousins studied at CGC Landran. It is a prominent college that is considered among the top 100 institutions in the country. Let me share his first day at the college.

  • The first day of college, the orientation day. Like others, he was also excited and liked the campus environment.
  • His hostel was nearby campus and the area was well-maintained and healthy.
  • The authorities of the college gather in the auditorium to familiarize newcomers with the rules and regulations of the college.
  • Moreover, the canteen has many varieties of foods which are worth exploring on the first day.

The classes begin from the first day itself and registration happens for the freshers. By any chance you skip the first day, you may do it by the other day.

Which college is better for a BTech ECE CGC: Landran or Chandigarh University?

AS
Aditi Sharma Posted On : March 22nd, 2023
Studied Chandigarh University (2018)

When it comes to selecting a college, it's important to consider various factors such as the curriculum, faculty, infrastructure, location, and placement opportunities. If you are considering CGC and CU Gharuan, you may want to take note of the following information.

CGC is affiliated with Punjab Technical University (PTU), whereas CU Gharuan is a university in itself. While being affiliated with PTU has its advantages, such as following a standardized curriculum and receiving recognition from the university, it's important to note that not all colleges under PTU may be of the same standard.

On the other hand, CU Gharuan is a recognized university that offers a range of courses across different fields. The university has its own faculty, infrastructure, and curriculum that is designed to provide students with a comprehensive learning experience.

When it comes to placements, both CGC and CU Gharuan have a dedicated placement cell that assists students in finding job opportunities. However, it's important to note that placement outcomes are not solely dependent on the college, but also on various other factors such as the student's skills, interests, and abilities, and the industry requirements.

While some colleges under PTU may not have a good reputation, it's not fair to generalize and say that all colleges under PTU are of no use. Similarly, while CU Gharuan may be a good option for some students, it may not be the best option for everyone. It's important to thoroughly research and consider all the factors before making a decision.

Which is better, CGC Landran or PU?

MA
Madhav Aneja Posted On : July 25th, 2023
Lived in Chandigarh, India

The choice between PU and CGC Landran depends more on the branch than anything. However, the degree you will be getting from CGC Landran will be affiliated with Punjab Technical University. Overall, PU ranked 44 by NIRF this year while PRU was ranked 120 in 2021. This huge difference in rankings strongly claims that PU is better than PTU.

PU is a Government University while CGC is a private college affiliated with I.K Gujral University, Jalandhar. CGC is a good choice for those looking for a less expensive college and decent infrastructure. It’s great for engineering but the same cannot be said for other courses.

In my opinion, PU is a fairly better option and the following comparative analysis proves this further.

Particulars

CGC Landran

PU

Number of recruiters

800+

55

Number of Placement offers

8600+

383

Highest CTC

INR 45.5 LPA

INR 45 LPA

Top Recruiters

Accenture, Amazon, Deloitte, Dell, Capgemini, IBM, Genpact, Google, etc

Sapient, Gemini Solutions, Motorola, EXL, Code Brew, Havells, Oceaneering, HP, Infosys, Emerson, Edureka, etc.

PU has a smaller batch size and its highest CTC is also better than CGC. So, it’s PU over CGC!

Which is better for a B. tech, DAVIET Jalandhar or CGC Landran?

RS
Rishi Singh Posted On : October 20th, 2020
Studied at Chandigarh Engineering College (2017)

Both colleges have a good reputation but which is a better option that depends upon a number of factors. CGC Landran is ranked in 210-250 band by NIRF 2020 whereas DAVIET is ranked 100 by India Today.

Given below is a brief overview of the two colleges.

Parameters

CGC Landran

DAVIET

Approved by

AICTE, PCI, NCTE

UGC, AICTE, NAAC ‘A’ grade

Courses offered

BTech, BBA, MBA, BSc, BCA, Bcom, MCA

BTech, BCA, BHMCT, MBA, BBA, Bcom, BTTM

Entrance exam accepted

JEE Mains, GATE, PTU CET, CAT

JEE Mains, GATE, CMAT

Average CTC

7.08 LPA

3.5 LPA

DAVIET fee structure is lower than CGC Landran. DAVIET has an average annual fee of Rs. 70,000 whereas CGC Landran has an average annual fee of Rs.96,000.

Scholarships:

  • CGC Landran offers merit scholarships, merit-means scholarships, scholarships for differently-abled students, etc.

  • DAVIET offers Post Matric Scholarships to eligible candidates from the reserved category as per the Punjab Govt/IKG PTU norm.

Placement:

CGC Landran has better placement (almost 100%) in IT/CSE department as compared to DAVIET Jalandhar and for core streams like Mechanical, Electrical etc both are equally good. On the other hand, DAVIET has a lower placement percentage but has a higher average salary as DAVIET does not allow mass recruiters which offer less than 3 LPA packages.

  • Every year top companies like Samsung, IBM, Microsoft, Dell etc visit both the campuses.

  • In terms of placement percentage, CGC Landran has led with 100% placement compared to DAVIET Jalandhar which has 85% placement.

  • The average package of both the colleges is the same 3.5 LPA.

  • The highest package of CGC Landran is 35 LPA whereas the highest package of DAVIET Jalandhar is only 10 LPA. As CGC is a group of institutions, it has advantages over the highest package data.

So, the choice of college purely depends on one’s priority. Placement wise CGC Landran has an edge over DAVIET but if you consider fee structure and campus location or exposure then DAVIET is better. DAVIET is located in Jalandhar city and hence has location advantage and better connectivity than CGC Landran. Academically both are equally good colleges and their average placement is similar. DAVIET has comparatively a smaller number of placements but quality placements and CGC has more placements from mass recruiters.

What should I choose for a B.Tech, CGC Landran, Thapar, or Amity?

MA
Madhav Aneja Posted On : April 14th, 2023
Lived in Chandigarh, India

If you are looking for a college that provides engineering education at an affordable price with all the necessary infrastructure, CGC Landran can be a suitable option for you.

On the other hand, if you have a higher budget and can afford to pay the fees of more expensive colleges, Thapar and Amity can be good choices. In particular, Thapar is highly regarded for its engineering program and is consistently ranked among the top engineering colleges in India.

Here are some factors to consider when deciding which college to choose:

  • Budget: If you have a limited budget, it may be wise to consider colleges that offer quality education at a more affordable price, such as CGC Landran. However, if you can afford higher fees, Thapar and Amity may be worth considering.
  • Infrastructure: When it comes to engineering education, infrastructure plays a crucial role. Make sure to check if the college has the necessary equipment and facilities, such as well-equipped laboratories, workshops, and libraries.
  • Faculty: The quality of faculty members is also important when selecting an engineering college. Look for colleges that have experienced and qualified faculty members who can provide comprehensive education and guidance.
  • Placements: Another important factor to consider is the placement record of the college. Check if the college has a good track record of placing its students in reputable companies and if they offer assistance with job placements after graduation.

Overall, it is important to carefully consider your budget and requirements before deciding on an engineering college. If you can afford the higher fees, Thapar and Amity can be great choices. However, if you are looking for an affordable option that provides good quality education, CGC Landran can be a suitable option.

Is CGC Landran a good college for a B. tech in the mechanical stream in terms of placements?

VM
Vikram Mathur Posted On : October 20th, 2020
Mechanical Engineering from Chandigarh Engineering College (2019)

CGC Landran has a good reputation and is better known for placements of CSE/IT/ECE (IT Sector related streams). Mechanical stream placement of the college is averagely rated. The institute offers training for placement to its students.

  • Few core companies visit for the mechanical branch. The college claims that Mechanical branch recruiters like Bajaj and Mahindra and Mahindra visit their campus but the number of placements from these companies is low.

  • The average placement package of B. tech 2019 batch is 4.5 LPA and 1-2 students from a batch of 80 got packages of more than 9 lakh in IT-related branches. Most students in non-IT related branches land 3-4 LPA jobs.

  • Many students of mechanical branches here study coding to get placed in the IT Sector.

Placements Statistics:

  • The 2018-19 placement records have shown that 40-50% of students from the Mechanical department, among the eligible, were placed with median packages between 3 to 4 LPA. The year 2017-18 had shown almost the same results previously.

  • Most of these placements are in non-core sectors.

At last, if a student is skilful and has knowledge at par with the concerned industry standard then they will surely find good placement irrespective of college. There are some examples of students who did outstanding and got placed in top mechanical core companies like Royal Enfield, Mahindra & Mahindra and Bajaj.
