How is ECE at IIIT Allahabad? How are the placements?
IIT Allahabad is an excellent place for students looking for a well-rounded degree course in ECE. Here are some persuasive highlights that make it an attractive choice:

Should I pursue ECE from MSIT or CS from BPIT?
Maharaja Surajmal Institute of Technology (MSIT) and Bhagwan Parshuram Institute of Technology (BPIT) both are private engineering colleges in New Delhi affiliated to the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU). There is not much of a difference between them in terms of the syllabus of the branches.
Here are some of the things that you should know about the two courses.
Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE):
- The prerequisite for doing well in this branch is a strong grasp of mathematics.
- Most of the subjects in this branch are logic-based and if your mathematics is good, then you can easily score and get some good grades.
- As for placements, core companies almost do not visit any of the two colleges (hardly 1 or 2). However, jobs in the service-based sector are plentiful and you can easily get them on the campus of MSIT with almost no knowledge of ECE.
Computer Science and Engineering (CSE):
- There is no prerequisite for doing well in CSE at BPIT and you can easily score good grades.
- Top companies like Amazon, Commvault also visit the campus along with service-based companies such as TCS, Wipro, etc.

Choose a branch according to your strengths and passion. In terms of college, both are almost equal and branches should be the differentiator rather than the college.
How good is NIT calicut ECE?
NITC is pretty good in terms of both curriculum and placement. But ECE in general is a vast branch where you have to study bits and pieces of electronics, Electrical engineering, Communication Engineering, and Computer Science. Initially, it might seem a bit overwhelming but once you get the hang of it, you will understand the beauty of the subject.
- First-year concepts are general for all branches. You can spend time improving your coding skills as it's very important in the current scenario.
- In the second year, you will learn about the basics of electronics and communication. Here you will come across basic concepts like solid-state devices, Network theory, logic designs, and many more. Look for internship opportunities from your second year so that you will get some good exposure. You can also work on some projects under your faculties.
- Third-year is majorly dedicated to computer networks, digital signal processing, microprocessors, and controllers. You will get a wide range of electives to choose from including AI to VLSI. Prepare for GATE at this stage if you want to pursue higher education.
- Fourth-year is all about placements, projects, and internships. 151 students from the 2019-20 batch availed of internship opportunities with an average stipend of 15K.

Is the ECE department good at Nirma University? Why?
Nirma University is a good choice for pursuing an ECE program. I think I can give you some insight into the ECE department as I know a few people from the institute.
- Talking about the ECE department of the college, this department has got very good faculties and you will get ample opportunities to work on various projects with them.
- You are not supposed to carry hardware kits home but you can use the college’s hardware kits but they have a restricted usage policy.
- You will get the opportunity to visit various industries for learning purposes during your stay at the college.
- Some expert faculties who belong to different industries come here to deliver lectures that will be useful for you.
- The college also has good placement records; companies like Analog devices, Samsung & free scale have visited the campus earlier.
- The highest package received by the university is 16 LPA while the average package is 8 LPA.
The negative aspects of the college that you will find seniors and students complaining about the college. You will have to ignore them. As you might get fewer facilities, not very great infrastructure and fewer faculties, the college is not as bad.
How are the packages for ECE at PEC Chandigarh?
One of my friends studied at Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh, so I will be able to share some information about their placement process, drives, etc.
- Companies like Arcesium and Amazon might offer a 30+ package, though few students receive this offer based on their coding skills.
- Core companies like Sandisk, Texas Instruments, MediaTek, etc. may hire 4-5 candidates from CS, ECE, and EE departments combined.
- The remaining students get placed in different sectors like IT, Consulting, Banking, etc. These include BCG, JP Morgan, Amadeus, Smartcube, etc.
- TCS and Infosys are the mass recruiters, they will offer you many opportunities, though they might sometimes not be up to the mark. So try to stay ahead in the competition.

Another reason I am suggesting you join IIIT Allahabad is that if you work hard in the first year, you can upgrade your branch to IT and avail some amazing opportunities.
How is IIIT, Guwahati for ECE?
IIIT Guwahati offers a great ECE program. It follows a mixed curriculum of IIITH and IITG. The best thing about the course is that you are only required to study the core subjects of ECE steam. There are no unnecessary subjects such as Mechanical workshop, Engineering Graphics, etc.
The departmental labs are well-equipped with the latest technology and equipment. There are separate robotics cum research labs in collaboration with IITB.
Over the years, IIIT Guwahati placements have been great for ECE. The average CTC for the branch is around INR 5.2 LPA, and the highest CTC is INR 12 LPA.
What cutoff (CPI) does Goldman Sachs keep for ECE students in internships at MNNIT Allahabad?
My cousin belongs to the 2020 batch of B.tech at MNNIT Allahabad. Goldman Sachs visited the campus for an internship for their batch. The general selection criteria for this internship are:
- You must belong to either of these branches: BTech All, MCA, MSc
- You must have a CPI of 5 or above
If you are preparing for getting selected at Goldman Sachs, just focus on your problem-solving and coding skills. Also in their technical round, you will be asked Quant questions that are very hard if you lack practice in that. Yes, Quant questions are the type of questions that are asked in CAT exams.
However, it is quite common to see students with a CPI of 8 or higher being selected most. This is the harsh truth, thus you might see your name in the first shortlist but not in the second list as your CPI is lower. Hence, work hard enough to get a CPI of 8 or higher and emphasize more and more on your coding skills as the coding exam for Goldman is very tough.
What should I choose between MNNIT Allahabad CS or IIIT Hyderabad ECE?
IIIT Hyderabad ECE will be a better option. It offers better facilities and opportunities compared to MNNIT Allahabad.
- The student intake for IIITH ECE is around 90, while the MNNIT Allahabad CS batch size is around 160-180. So, you will face less competition at IIITH.
- IIIT Hyderabad CSE average package is INR 20 LPA, according to the recent placement highlights.
- Located in Hyderabad, it has a huge locational advantage. Hyderabad is an electronic city and it houses more than 1300 IT and ITES firms. These firms recruit more than 407,000 individuals each year. So, you will have great exposure.
Due to the locational advantage and the exposure, IIIT Hyderabad ECE will be a better option.
ECE in VIT or ECE in IIIT Dharwad, which is better?
CSE in IIIT Dharwad is a better option to opt for. As of now, they don't have a permanent campus but they will have their campus soon. See, there are pros and cons of every college/institute. Somewhere you might find one thing and another might be equipped with another better thing. IIIT Dharwad also has some pros and cons.
Cons:
- Don't have their permanent campus as of now and the temporary campus is also not that good.
- You have to pick your peer group very wisely because the type of people you choose will become your peer group.
Pro
- The institute in which you will be studying is of national importance which is controlled by MHRD. It has a good reputation just like any other IITs/NITs.
- You will get the mentorship of some experienced faculties as PhD is mandatory for all the faculties here.
- Dharwad is quite close to Bangalore so you can get good placement opportunities.
- The campus of IIIT Dharwad will be really amazing.
- The facilities like hostel and mess are better in comparison to any other college/institutes.
- If you are a sports lover, you will have many sports facilities like cricket, football, basketball etc.
- And most importantly, you will have the brand name of IIIT which really matters.

Talking about VIT, if you have a huge amount of money in your pocket, then you can opt for it. Although, they are not providing any good placements in their records.
