How good is IIIT A (Amethi campus)?
IIIT Allahabad works in synchronization with the main campus. The campus is decent and well maintained. But as it is still in its developing phase, some adjustments are still required.
Below discussed points highlights some of the amenities available at the Amethi campus:
- Facilities, Hostel, and Infrastructure: The campus is still under development, but electricity, water supply, internet connection, library, and food are as good as any other campus in India.
- Computer Lab: There are six computer labs with approximately 270+ students. In the first year, students need to share a computer with two people. Afterward, students get their computers.
- Laboratory: There is a Multi-purpose laboratory used for EDC, Microprocessor, and other subjects. It is not up to the mark, but practical is interesting.
- Sports: There is a basketball court, volleyball court, badminton court, gym, and table tennis.
- Hostel: There are a total of three hostels, out of which two are for boys, and one is for girls.
- A proper canteen is also there.
- Guest House: There is a well-maintained guest house for students to visit their family or loved ones.
- Auditorium: A place for extra-curricular activities like seminars, quiz competitions, debates, dance, music, and official introductions.
- Faculty: The faculty is the same as the main campus of IIIT Allahabad. This is the reason that the classes start from 10 AM to 5 PM with a lunch break of one hour.
It's situated in a village named Tikarmafi, which is 10 km from Amethi. So, the place is secluded, and the least facilities are available here.
At present, the students have to be in Amethi campus for the first three years, and in the last year (fourth year) they are shifted to the Allahabad campus. So, placements are not different in Amethi and Main campus.
Is NIT Calicut good for girls (I have heard there are a lot of restrictions for girls). I plan to join EP and I live in Kolkata. Will it be a good choice?
NIT Calicut is safe for girls but most of its rules are very regressive and gender biased. In the girls' hostel, first-year students have to seek multiple permissions for something as simple as going out to get paracetamol. The NIT Calicut girls hostel curfew starts at 7 PM for first year girls and is relaxed to 9 p.m. for seniors. The exit timings are 6 AM onwards. Everyone has to attend the daily roll calls.
To travel home, you must submit your permission form two days in advance and exit/enter the hostel between 7 PM to 6 AM. This causes a lot of inconvenience, especially if your train is scheduled at odd hours.
Hostel amenities are quite average, and just enough for survival.Traveling from Kolkata to Kozhikode is not easy, even by flight. You will get to visit home only during the summer breaks. Also, take up EP only if you are really passionate about Physics and are planning to go for higher studies. If you plan to work in the industry, the placements for EP are quite low. If you can manage with its policies and far-off location, NIT Calicut has a great learning environment and quality of education. Its campus is also really good. NIT Calicut enhances your personality and aids your growth.
Consider all these factors before making a final decision.
Which is the best institute for an MBA, IIM Shillong, MDI Gurgaon or NITIE Mumbai?
Among these, NITIE Mumbai is the best institute for an MBA. It is considered the Mecca of Operations and SCM. The Ops and SCM job profiles offered at NITIE Mumbai placements are even better than the ones offered from these sectors at IIM ABCL. The final placement record for 2022 showed the average CTC is INR 24.51 LPA. Highest CTC offered this year was INR 49 LPA.

- BITS Pilani is one of the oldest technical institutions and is considered a prestigious college often compared to the top IITs. IIT Indore is a second-generation IIT that has made its name because of its exponential growth.
- One of the major factors to consider while deciding between IIT Indore and BITS Pilani is the fees. IIT Indore fees are ?2.34 Lakhs for the first year while the entire BITS Pilani fee just for the first campus is INR 2,31,500. So unless you have any financial constraints, BITS Pilani CSE would be a better option.
- The best part is that BITS Pilani has no reservation policy which makes for an excellent peer culture over there.
- BITS Pilani has an elaborate alumni pool and is thus better than IIT Indore.
- The placement scenario of both the colleges is similar so that should be your last concern.
So unless you have any financial issues, BITS Pilani is the best choice unless you are adamant about the IIT tag.

- It’s a harsh reality but luck plays a huge role in placements. Sometimes it will shock you how people with no potential at all get offered great job opportunities.
- Confidence and patience are really important during placements.
- You need to prepare well to get placed. By sitting for various companies too, you will get a lot of experience and exposure on the do’s and don'ts.
- Placement season is the best and worst time of your college life. This is when you get to know the difference between fake and real friends.
- Learn to be satisfied with the job that you end up in. It is your grades, caliber, and level of preparation that have brought you here. A comparison with others is of no use.
- Sometimes people become rude after getting placed in a top company for a good package. Learn to ignore them and remain calm.
- Only you know your hard work, worth and potential. Don’t let others talk you down with rude words.
