Saswata Mukharjee Posted On : July 29th, 2022
BS-MS from Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Pune

For applied Physics, NIT Calicut will be a better option. You will learn how to analyze and solve real-world problems using Physics. NIT Calicut placements are good for Engineering Physics. The placement rate for the branch was around 60%. Students of the branch usually receive an average CTC of around INR 27 LPA.

IISER Pune is essentially a science institute. If you are more interested in learning the theoretical aspects of Physics, IISER will be the right place for you.

What is better, IGNOU or PTU?

KA
Kinjal Arora Posted On : July 13th, 2022
B.Tech in Computer Science & Computer Programming, I. K. Gujral Punjab Technical University

IGNOU is better than PTU. IGNOU courses are better recognized in the industry. It is a trusted distance education institution in India. IGNOU has all the required accreditation. If you are planning on pursuing distance education, choosing IGNOU will be wiser.

PTU degrees are valid. The university offers decent academics. But in industry, IGNOU degrees are more reputed.

Which is a better option, do MCA/MSc from Sikkim Manipal University or MCA from Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University as distance?

FA
Faraz Ahmed Posted On : November 22nd, 2020
BBA Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing, Sikkim Manipal University (2018)

Distance courses are always a preferred option especially in the present scenario where offline physical classes are not possible. Sikkim Manipal University offers distance education through SMU (DE) in both the courses like MCA/MSc while BVP offers only the MCA program. The prominent details are described below.

Academics Structure:

Both the courses are post-graduate courses but their duration varies according to the institute.

  • Sikkim Manipal University offers an MCA program with a duration of 3 years while MSc (IT) program completes in 2 years.

  • BVP offers the MCA program for 2 years.

Curriculum:

Distance courses generally are chosen on the strength of their curriculum as they normally provide more insights into the concepts of the subject.

Sikkim Manipal:

It follows a credit mechanism for both its courses. The credit distribution for the MCA program is as follows.

Sem 1

20 Credits

Sem 2

40 Credits

Sem 3

60 Credits

Sem 4

80 Credits

Sem 5

100 Credits

Sem 6

120 Credits

Bharati Vidyapith:

It has a 72 credit system with a complete project and practical work timeline. The entire MCA course is summed up in 4 semesters through great structural alignment.

Fee Structure:

  • Sikkim Manipal offers the MCA course at a fee range of Rs. 18,250 per semester. MSc course is offered at Rs. 20000 per semester.

  • BVP offers the MCA course at Rs. 60, 500 for 2 years.

Eligibility:

Since the courses offered are of post-graduation level, the minimum eligibility stands at graduation scores from relevant universities.

  • MCA establishes a mandatory requirement of graduation with mathematics as a compulsory subject in the case of Sikkim Manipal University.

  • BVP has a requirement of a bachelor’s degree in computer sciences or any other graduation degree with mathematics as a subject.

Placement Scenario:

Sikkim Manipal:

  • More than 400 corporates participated in the placements drives.

  • 40000 candidates walk-in for drives. More than 8500 offers were made

  • Alumni work in companies like Tech Mahindra, Rakuda, Aegis, Amazon, Airtel.

Bharati Vidyapith:

  • According to the placement statistics of 2020, the average CTC received by the students is 7 LPA. While the highest is 12 LPA.

  • Some of the top recruiters at the institute are TCS, Amazon, JP Morgan, HDFC Bank, etc.

Both the institutes offer good options for learning but Sikkim Manipal exceeds the expectations due to its features like dedicated academic advisors, technology-driven learning, and the development of skills holistically.

Which is better, IIEST Shibpur or Jadavpur University CSE placements?

AR
Abinav Roychowdhury Posted On : June 28th, 2021
Studies Computer Science Engineering at Jadavpur University (2020)

Jadavpur University and IIEST Shibpur are both well-known institutes in the country. I have some friends at both institutes. Based on what I heard from them, I will say for CSE, Jadavpur will be a better choice.

Jadavpur is considered as the best institute in all of West Bengal when it comes to engineering especially CSE. Jadavpur is known to be the pioneer of CSE in India along with ISI and therefore had a head start. Jadavpur University has a better record of quality of education and the opportunities it provides to the students.

That doesn’t necessarily mean that IIEST is not a good option. IIEST is also a very reputed institution in our country and a pioneer in some engineering courses and research fields. You can certainly keep IIEST as your second option after JU.

Here is a brief outline of the CSE course offered by the institutions.

Institute

IIEST

JU

Average CTC

4.5 LPA

19 LPA

Highest CTC

39 LPA

42 LPA

Course Fee

5.36 lakhs

9,600

Major recruiters

TCS, Microsoft, HSBC Technologies

Adobe, Microsoft, CGI

Hope this gives you some idea about the institutes.

Which is better, IIEST Shibpur IT or AMU CS?

NG
Neha Gupta Posted On : July 19th, 2021
B.Tech from Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur (2019)

My friend studied at IIEST Shibpur but it was a long time ago. The quality of pedagogy back then was good, however now one can't say much of it. Also personally, CS does not have the best faculty in AMU.

If you wish to compare the state of teaching in the institutions, just log in to the official website and go through the qualifications of the faculty members. Check both the academic achievements of the faculty in general, as well as that of the departments.

If you live near Shibpur then it'll be easier to commute, however, if you live far away then you can choose AMU. You must note that IIEST Shibpur's IT department might have to shut down and you may regret your decision during placements.
