Should I prefer IT at MNNIT or at IIIT Allahabad?

IM
Ishika Mishra Posted On : September 15th, 2020
Indian Institute of Information Technology, Allahabad (2020)

To know which institution to be preferred, let us start with the rankings of both of them. #48th is the ranking of MNNIT by NIRF for the year 2020 and on the other hand #103 is the ranking of IIIT Allahabad by NIRF for the same year. Now you can see some other factors to decide which institution can be preferred over the other.

Admissions

MNNIT:

  • It is necessary to complete 10+2 in Science stream and acquiring a minimum of 75% marks in the examination.
  • JEE MAINis the entrance exam for the institution.
  • 1st-yearfee for the institution isRs 84,666
  • General students’ cut-off for other state is from 3133 to 4986 and for home state it is starting from 4057 and ending at 5697.

IIIT Allahabad:

  • With PCM as the subject, the candidate has to complete 10+2 acquiring a minimum of 60%.
  • JEE Mainis considered as the entrance exam for the institution.
  • ? 143,700 is the first year fee for the IT course.
  • General students’ cut-off starts from 1291 and ends at 5330 (in the year 2019)

Some basic highlights about the institutions are as follows:

MNNIT Allahabad

IIIT Allahabad

Highest salary offered

36 LPA

36 LPA

Average salary offered

12.97 LPA

15.12 LPA

Total Number of companies visited

250

120+

Placements:

IIIT Delhi:

  • The placement rate of the institute is 95%.
  • Some of the top recruiters of the institutions are Adobe, Google, Microsoft, Linkedin, Zomato, Walmart Labs, Zendrive, CodeNation, Arista Networks, Cisco Systems, Juniper Networks, etc.

MNNIT Allahabad:

  • The placement rate of MNNIT Allahabad is 95.56%.
  • Top recruitersof MNNIT Allahabad is Indian Navy, Dell, Canon, BHEL, E-bay, Adobe, Bharat Institute of Technology, etc. followed by frequently visiting companies like Google, INFOYSIS, Amazon, Flipkart, HCL, Axis bank, Dell, E-bay, Cisco, etc.

Now based on all the above-mentioned data, the candidate can compare and come to the conclusion. Other factors that can be made into considerations are city life (which will be almost equivalent for both of them), faculties (highly qualified teachers are there in both the institutions), campus life, hostel facilities, etc. But at the end of the day, it is the subject and the interests of the students that matters for a successful future. IT is a good subject regarding future and the candidate can choose whichever institution suits him/her better.

What should I choose between NIT Durgapur CSE and IIEST Shibpur for electrical engineering?

RD
Rakshit Dua Posted On : July 16th, 2021
B.Tech Computer Engineering, National Institute of Technology Durgapur (2014)

Computer Science and Engineering and Electrical Engineering are two entirely different streams. You should go through a lot of thought and analyzes facts before choosing among streams of engineering. Considering CSE at NIT Durgapur and EE at IIEST Shibpur, the points below state the major areas of importance that students should look into before selecting one among the others.

  • The first factor that everyone should consider is your own interest in the two fields, i.e. - programming and circuits.
  • Electrical Engineering is the most demanded stream at prime engineering colleges in India and has some of the most brilliant minds in engineering every year. On the other hand, CSE holds a much better edge in placements because of the high demand for software developers at present. Software engineers are even paid much better than electrical engineers.
  • Students should understand their strengths, qualities, and skills before choosing among branches. If you have better computational strength, you should choose CSE but, if you have more interest in circuit-oriented works, you should go for electrical engineering.

Therefore, it is clear that choosing among the two available options is entirely dependent on your field of interest and passion. But, in general, CSE at NIT Durgapur should have a better placement and so, is preferred over the other to some extent.
