What should be my best pick, CSE at MNIT Jaipur or IT at MNNIT Allahabad?
Both the colleges are well-renowned. But there are certain things I would like to bring to your notice-
As per college rankings, MNNIT is the top NIT in North India. It witnesses very good placements in IT/CSE. The average package for IT is almost at par with that for CSE. This year, the average package was around 24 LPA for IT and 27 LPA for CSE. The CSE students at MNIT Jaipur receive comparatively way lower packages.
At MNNIT, CS, and IT students have the same curriculum till 2nd year. Even after the 2nd year, only 1 or 2 subjects are different. The coding culture is great, and coders perform really well on various platforms like CodeChef, HackerEarth, Hackerrank, etc.
I would recommend you choose IT at MNNIT Allahabad.

Should I prefer CSE at NIT Calicut or ECE at NIT Warangal?
Choosing between CSE and ECE is a matter purely based on personal inclinations. While one branch may be good for you, it may not be for someone else, and vice versa.
However, in terms of both academics and placements, NIT Warangal clearly has the upper hand. NIT Warangal is among the top 3 NITs and is better than NIT Calicut in almost every aspect. Its laboratory facilities and faculty are among the best.

Although NIT Calicut has an edge in terms of the highest CTC, NIT Warangal's average package beats it. Average packages are a better means of evaluating the placement scenario, and that being said, NIT Warangal is a better option.
Is it worth doing a PGDIE course at NITIE at 29, after having a 5-year gap after graduation and a 3-year work experience in a PSU? Do placements get affected because of the age factor?
Answering such a question is a bit typical as it is important to know whether you are working or just asking. If you are working or due to some reason there is a gap of 5 years after graduation then you should have substantial reason during your PI.
Another crucial factor will be what the main reason is for the 5-year gap after graduation. Just in case,
- If you are a female candidate and left work due to marriage, childbirth, and relocation to a different city, the recruiters will tend to be more cooperative.
- If you do not have any illnesses or other severe burdens recruiters will be skeptical of hiring you as it shows that you lack the motivation to work.
- But, if you are from PSU you would be preferred in final interviews. I would suggest you with such experience in PSU and 5 years of gap your best bet would be towards consulting. Though, it could be a bit difficult getting into FMCG.
Apart from all this, if you want to join NITIE for placements, I think the average package is pretty good now and you will get at least 15 LPA if you are a sincere person or at the worst someone will get only 10 LPA for sure. Better you prepare yourself with convincing reasons and joining NITIE would be the best option.

Which is better, CSE or CSAI in IIIT Delhi?
IIIT Delhi has both CSE and CSAI (Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence). here's what's actually different:
CSE: core computer science curriculum — algorithms, OS, databases, networks, systems. the broadest CS program. placements ~96-97%. admission purely via JEE Main/JAC Delhi rank.
CSAI (CS + AI):
- focuses on AI, ML, deep learning, data science alongside core CS fundamentals
- curriculum has more math (linear algebra, probability, optimization) and AI-specific courses
- same JEE Main admission route
- placements comparable to CSE (~95%+)
- slightly newer program, hence somewhat less proven alumni network than CSE
which is better? honestly for most software career paths, both are equivalent. companies recruiting at IIIT Delhi don't strongly distinguish between CSE and CSAI at the interview stage. but:
- if you want to go into AI/ML research or product roles specifically — CSAI is a better fit because the curriculum is more focused
- if you want general software engineering flexibility — CSE keeps all doors open
- CSAI's heavy math requirement means it's tougher if math isn't your strength
both are excellent. if you're genuinely into AI/ML, CSAI is a meaningful differentiator. if you're undecided about specialization, CSE is safer.
How do I choose between IIT Delhi engineering physics, civil, production & industrial, and chemical engineering?
I will restrict my answer to Engineering Physics and Chemicals only as I know the same only.
- The major criterion followed at IIT Delhi by all the branches is a well-maintained CG. To secure good placements one has to constantly score a good CG throughout the program.
- During your admission, the department does not play any role but your 85 percent constraint on minimum possible strength does.
- Engineering Physics is a unique branch for those highly passionate about Physics and want to pursue higher studies in the same
- To secure core jobs, one has to move to MTech in Engineering Physics from BTech in Engineering Physics.
- For Chemical Engineering students, BTech is more than enough to secure decent packages and great research opportunities outside India.
- Consultancy and Analytics jobs are offered equally to students of all the departments
- Engineering Physics graduates usually take up consultancy or IT jobs
- Chemical Engineering is the most laid-back department of IIT Delhi with very flexible academics thus making it easy to maintain a decent CG throughout.
I wouldn’t suggest anyone go for Engineering Physics if they have no intention of pursuing it later. Instead, look for other options in BTech and explore your interests.
How is Chemical Engineering at IIT Gandhinagar in terms of course, faculty, packages and placements?
Chemical Engineering has a broad scope outside India but is yet to make its mark here. The field is not developed here yet, the demand is low and so is the pay. If you are genuinely interested in this field and want to pursue a career in the same, universities in the USA and Germany provide excellent opportunities. To ensure the maximum utilization of the benefits of this field, we need qualified professionals.
Infrastructure: IIT Gandhinagar is well known for its infrastructure and facilities. The new hostel has excellent accommodation facilities with 90 Mbps speed wifi. The food served in the mess is decent and there are also 4 canteens that have got a 5-star rating from FSSAI. Students are provided with 24/7 medical facilities.
Faculty: Sparing a few assistant professors, the faculty is mostly dedicated, passionate, and very learned. They provided constant assistance to the students.
Course: All the courses have the same syllabus in the first year. The semester exams are no joke and can be quite challenging at times. You will get some free time post classes so prepare well and get a good CPI. The institute follows a relative grading system so the passing marks vary from teacher to teacher.
Placements: Out of 27 registered students this year, 16 got placed bringing the placement percentage to 52.26%. IIT Gandhinagar's average package of Chemical Engineering stood at INR 14.82 LPA while the median package stood at INR 14 LPA.
Overall, the chemical Engineering department of IIT Gandhinagar is very promising although the placements are still average and need to improve.
How is the placement at NIT Hamirpur for M.Tech CSE and mobile computing?
The placement scenario at NIT Hamirpur for MTech CSE and Mobile Computing is decent. Many companies visit NIT Hamirpur every year. Both BTech and MTech students appear for similar companies with only a slight difference in packages. You can easily make it into an MNC if you have a good profile and enough skills.
Samsung R&D visits NIT Hamirpur every year for MTech with decent packages. These companies however have a high cutoff of around 8.0 CGPA. Additionally, many colleges come forward with teaching offers for LPU and TMU.
