Which is better IIT Guwahati CSE or IIT Delhi EE or IIT KGP CSE 5yrs?
In my opinion, an IIT KGP CSE dual degree is a better option than IIT Guwahati CSE. Here’s why
- You get an additional degree in just one or two years
- You don’t have to sit for another entrance exam like GATE
- Companies that open profiles for BTech also open the same profiles for Dual Degree students.

You are confident that one will be able to change branch within a year. This is because you will end up studying CS courses with external coaching.
To secure a job, the best options are CSE or MBA. For MBA, your branch does not really matter, only your institute does.
Does FMS have any quota for Delhi University students?
The University Grants Commission funds FMS which is a national institute. There are no exceptions for residents of any particular state. According to Delhi University regulations, certain categories are entitled to reservations and exemptions. FMS is an equal opportunity institution for the remaining seats, with no discrimination based on race, religion, national origin, gender, marital status, age, or physical handicap.
To be admitted to FMS, Delhi, candidates must have a bachelor's degree of at least 3 years duration after class 12, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (in the case of SC/ST candidates, only passing marks are required). Candidates from the OBC/PWD and CW categories must have 45% at graduation.
Between an M.Sc chemistry in BITS Hyderabad and CSE in VIT, which is better?
Based on mine and my friends’ experiences, here are some points I would like for you to consider in this regard-
- The branch should always be your top priority. For a dual degree in CSE at BITS Hyderabad, you’ll need to score more than 7.6 CG. That would mean an average +30 in most subjects (relative grading). Phoenix Dual is a better option than VIT CSE.
- Dual degree will take away a lot from your campus life. You won’t be able to enjoy clubs and events to the fullest.
- BITS Hyderabad undoubtedly has a better crowd quality. Moreover, it carries the prestigious ‘BITS’ tag.
- BITS will give you a more quality campus experience with better academics.
The decision has to be made by you, but I hope that these points will guide you. Whatever you choose, make sure to maintain a good academic performance in college, so that you end up getting decent job offers.
Should I prefer IEM Kolkata IT or Heritage institute technology ECE?
IEM Kolkata IT will be comparably better. Although IEM has pretty strict rules in place, it offers better opportunities in terms of academics and placements. According to the stats of recent IEM placements, each year around 90% of students get placed each year from IT. The highest CTC for the branch is INR 40 LPA.
Heritage Institute of Technology is a good option, if you want to pursue research or MS, further.
Which should my daughter choose, a CSE from IGDTUW or a ECE from NSIT/DTU/IIIT Delhi?
this is actually a really good question and the answer depends on what career path your daughter is aiming for.
CSE at IGDTUW — it's an all-women's government university in Delhi, excellent campus environment for women students, strong alumni network in Delhi tech companies, government college fees (very affordable), and CSE is the best branch to be in for software careers. the women-only campus is a genuine advantage in terms of safety and focused academic culture.
ECE at NSIT/DTU/IIIT Delhi — all three are mixed-gender, more prestigious institutions. IIIT Delhi ECE specifically is excellent for tech — the institute has a strong coding culture and ECE students regularly get SWE roles. DTU and NSUT ECE are decent but the branch doesn't give the same software career advantage as CSE.
honest recommendation:
- if she wants a software/tech career — CSE at IGDTUW is probably better than ECE at DTU/NSUT. branch matters more than college here
- if the option is ECE at IIIT Delhi specifically — that's a tough call, IIIT Delhi is genuinely strong and ECE students do well in placements there
- for family comfort and safety — IGDTUW being all-women and govt-managed is a significant factor for many families
What is your review of IPM course at IIM Indore?
Every coin has two sides. Similarly, every college has its pros and cons. My review of the IPM course will list the pros and cons of IIM Indore and its IPM course. Fortunately, the pros overshadow the cons to a large extent
Pros
- Early admission - The eligibility criteria of the IPM program allows students who have passed out of class XII/Higher Secondary or equivalent from schools across India to apply. So even a 12th pass-out gets the opportunity to get into IIM.
- Comprehensive Curriculum - The uniqueness of the curriculum lies in the fact that it teaches many areas and not just management. The course is coveted by many due to its high rigor and worth.
- Brand name - The IIM tag can be attached to an individual's profile right after the 12th without having to do a separate undergraduate course in any other field of study.
- Placements - The placement scenarios are much better than that of engineering and law colleges. Even as a fresher you land a job of around INR 12-15 LPA. Whereas engineering students start their careers with nothing more than 3-7 LPA.
- Division of courses - The Programme consists of 15 terms spread over a period of 5 years, with each year having 3 terms of 3 months. The subjects of the initial 3 years focus on the foundation and the last 2 years have core subjects that focus on Management.
In addition, there are humanities, literature, and skill-building courses, along with an option to pursue a foreign language. The IPM also has a group of subjects called ‘bridge courses’. They comprise courses related to information technology, intellectual property rights, or introduction to corporate law.
Cons
- High fee structure - The biggest con of any IIM is its extremely high fees. The IPM is one of the most expensive graduation courses. Its fee is INR 500000 per year for the first 3 years. Approximately the total cost of this program is INR 3500000.
- Limited Scope - The program offers very little future scope. This is because even if you decide to leave after 3 years, you will want to pursue Management itself. But leaving after spending so much on graduation is not easy. Also, people usually leave if they get a call from a better IIM. In that case, why did you even pursue graduation at such a high cost?
- No specialization - The IPM course offers no specialization in Graduation.
Choose wisely after weighing the pros and cons according to your convenience and interests
Which is better EEE at IIT Guwahati or CSE at DTU?
While IIT is a globally recognized brand, DTU is no less the mother institution of reputed colleges like IIT Delhi and FMS. It has been established got 83 years and is older than IITs. However, the institute is always the secondary thing to consider, the branch being the primary factor to focus on. Determine whether your interests lie in becoming a Computer Science engineer or an Electronics Engineer.
Personally, I would suggest you go for DTU CSE because of the following reasons:
Faculty: DTU has a rich pool of highly esteemed and well-qualified Professors with over an experience of more than 30 years of teaching
Campus: Located in a metro city, you are exposed to city life. You can also prepare for IAS, MBA, GRE, Language Courses, or coding courses as Delhi has the best coaching institutes.
DTU has a rich campus culture with over 120+ societies and 15+ Technical Teams.

Which is the better option - PICT for IT, VIT Pune for IT, or WCE Sangli for CSE?
My friend was in a similar dilemma when he was left with these three options. Based on his experience, PICT is the best option in Pune for computers. The institute provides an environment and resources suitable for working on quality projects. The academic ambiance is excellent and you will get a chance to develop yourself. Students with a good CGOA bag good offers while some open their own startups.
WCE is a decent college with a good campus and faculty pool. The students make it to average companies like TCS Infosys cognizant. It’s the best college in the Kolhapur and Solapur University area. Most students opt for a job rather than pursuing higher studies.
VIT has the added advantage of being in Pune so if you ever face this situation, choose VIT over WCE. The preference order therefore is, PICT>VIT>WCE.
Which one is better: IIT Kanpur civil, IIT Guwahati or IIT BHU mechanical?
If you are certain about your branch choice, then go for Civil at IIT Kanpur. If you aren’t sure about the branch then choosing IIT Kanpur among these three IITs will be better. In 2021, NIRF ranked IIT Kanpur #6 in the country. Although it’s not easy you can change your branch after a year. But you can’t change your college.
What should I take, Metallurgy and Material Science Engineering at IIT Indore or Electrical Engineering at IIT Bhilai?
In general, it is better to choose the branch of your choice. Given below are a few trade-offs of the two choices given on the question which may help you in making the decision.
MEMS - IIT Indore:
- Administration: IIT Indore belongs to the 2008-09 batch of IITs. Although it can’t be compared with older IITs but it has made remarkable progress in this short span of time. The administration and departments are well-settled. Extra-curricular at the institute are also developing with time. In 4-5 years, the institute is expected to have a great future.
- Course: BTech MEMS at IIT Indore is fairly new and the duration of the existence of the course is the same as the B Tech Electrical course at IIT Bhilai. However, the MEMS department has been functioning for a while at IIT Indore. As a department it has experience. The faculties are great.
- Placements: MEMS has a lower placement rate as compared to other core branches of engineering. Metallurgy and Material Science is a niche field of study and the degree outcome is more research-oriented.
- Change of Branch: However, you can change your branch to Electrical or Mechanical from MEMES at IIT I, if you work hard in your 1st year. Changing to CS is always difficult because of the competition.
Electrical at IIT Bhilai:
- Facilities: IIT Bhilai was established back in 2016. It is only 4 years old. Electrical is a core Engineering discipline with better career prospects. But the disadvantage of this choice is the institute. You will have a few seniors in your branch and temporary faculties.
- Extracurricular: You will have good opportunities to start events, clubs, in the institute. On the other hand, the future at this institute is a bit uncertain.
- Campus Life: The institute also does not have a proper campus. You will not have a proper campus life for the next 4 years.

One of my friends had an option between Mechanical at IIT Indore and CS at a new IIT. He chose Mechanical at IIT Indore. Judging by his experience it is safe to say that he made the right decision at least for 2-3 more years.
The choice is up to you if you would rather trade off on the branch or on the institution. If you are confident you can secure a good future from the limited opportunities a new IIT can offer, you should go for it.
