I have 90 percent in 10th, 85 in 12th and 61 in BTech. Is there any chances of getting admission in an IIM?

Definitely, with this score, there is a possibility of getting admission at an IIM. There are also certain eligibility criteria that you must fulfill to take admission in IIMs.

Eligibility:

  • CAT score will play a major role whether you get admission or not. So, first of all, make sure that you score well in the exam.
  • Concentrate on your studies and focus on the elements that are in your hand now like CAT score, WAT, and PI. If you perform well and score high in these sections, the rest of the path becomes easy.
  • Try to score the required cut off so that you can get your stream of choice.

Preparation Tips:

  • Practice as many mock tests as possible. There are many online websites where you can find CAT mock tests. Practice well and make your problem-solving skills efficient. Mock tests will help you analyze your strengths and weaknesses. This way, you can manage time and work upon your shortcomings. If you think that you are lacking somewhere, give extra 2 hours per day to that portion.
  • Students who are weak in Verbal Ability should read routinely.
  • For Quantitative Aptitude, go through secondary textbooks.
  • If you are not a pro at DI/LR, make sure to settle organized and unstructured riddles normally.

Remember one thing, the quality of your answers will help you score in the desired area/s so exceed your expectations in the quality of answers. Improve your score by improving your exactness. This will also help in your curriculum.

When do the major B-schools (IIMS, XLRI, FMS, MDI, SPJAIN, NMIMS, SIMB, IMT) generally conduct interviews and till when do the final admissions take place?

The majority of business school interviews take place between February and April, though some may extend into May. Each B-School maintains a one-month window for GD-PI. Interviews are typically completed by mid-April.

Final admission letters begin to be distributed approximately 20-30 days after the end date for GD-PI processes. This is followed by updated wait lists and coverage every fortnight, with the frequency increasing to weekly in the final few weeks before the start of the course.

These business schools typically accept students until the end of the first month of the semester to fill seats vacated by students transferring to other colleges.

How do I prepare for case discussion and personal interview process to get admission in the MBA program for NMIMS mumbai?

RB
Riya Bannerjee Posted On : July 27th, 2021
Studies MBA at IIM Ahmedabad

One of my friends has recently been in the interview session at NMIMS Mumbai and can explain it better. Here is what he has to say,

  1. The Group Discussion (GD) at NMIMS Mumbai is usually quite similar to the Case Discussion pattern.
  2. The only difference between them is that, in Case of Discussions, you will generally be given a scenario or situation where you will need to justify, analyze and evaluate possible solutions and later come up with the most suitable answer, while in Group Discussions, you are usually allotted a topic to discuss.
  3. The best possible way to prepare your problem-solving skills is to practice in groups of about 10 to 15 people.

For the Personal Interview Session, you should usually follow these:

  1. You must read as much as you can about the course you are about to go for.
  2. The current social and economical issues are mostly following up in and across India.
  3. The various economic sectors and their effects.
  4. The latest schemes and policies adopted by the government and their general effects.
  5. If you possibly have planned your specialization, you should undeniably know and read more about it.
  6. Prepare certain general questions, such as the introduction, why you are going for an MBA, and why have you considered pursuing a particular specialization among many others.
  7. Know about your strengths and weaknesses, your achievements and failures, and how exactly will you project your achievements in NMIMS, Mumbai.

The major hack is to receive important feedback and practice daily to know where you are relatively going wrong. Besides, read new topics every day.

Is it possible to get admission to top MBA colleges like IIFT and XLRI if you got below 50% in B.Com?

RK

To get into top MBA colleges like XLRI and IIFT, you would, without a doubt have to work really hard. It would be wrong to say that it is impossible. It is possible, one just has to stay focused on what they are doing and study well.

Any recruiter from IIFT or XLRI checks whether you will prove to be a profitable employee to them or not. This is the core strategy behind their entire recruitment process. Plus, even when you manage to get into reputed colleges like these, remember that the panel would give great importance to your academic background. Low grades could prove to be a great setback for them and for you too- in terms of placement. It can block you from grabbing a placement at a good company. That's how tough the overall criteria is!

My personal advice would be to try to leave such an impression of yourself that your personality becomes memorable to them. You have to be solid and confident throughout the interview. In case you are preparing for the exams, just work hard.

If you are one of those who already have cleared the exam and simply want an idea on the interview and preparing for it, you will get it through hard work.v

I had 86% in tenth and 65% in twelfth Maharashtra state board and currently pursuing engineering from KJ Somaiya. Can I get admission in top IIMs?

AR
Aditi Roy Posted On : March 31st, 2023

If you have 86% in the tenth and 65% in the twelfth Maharashtra state board, you can still get admission to top IIMs. It's important to keep in mind that your grades aren't going to be the only factor that determines whether or not you get accepted. Instead, you should focus on other aspects of your profile that stand out and highlight your strengths.

Contrary to popular belief, MBA admissions committees aren't solely focused on grades. They're interested in seeing a well-rounded candidate who brings unique experiences, perspectives, and skills to the table. Working with a counselor can be incredibly helpful in identifying these gems within your profile.

It's also a good idea to prepare interesting responses to questions about your grades. This can help you steer the interview in a positive direction and demonstrate your ability to handle challenging situations. You can even use these responses to showcase your personal growth and development.

During the admissions process, the interviewers may ask questions to verify your cognitive ability. This is a common practice in many entrance exams, and it's important to be prepared for these types of questions as part of your overall exam preparation.

Ultimately, while your grades may not be the strongest part of your application, they don't have to hold you back from getting into a top IIM. With the right preparation and focus on your unique strengths, you can make a compelling case for your candidacy and stand out as a strong candidate.
