Can I do a second MBA from ISB after around 2 years of work experience and my first MBA from a Tier II institute?

There is literally nothing that is stopping you from doing a double MBA. Many students are not satisfied with the brand value or outcome of their first MBA degree and might opt for a double MBA from a better B School with clearer goals.

But if you are doing so, make sure you have a credible story up your sleeve to explain why you need a second MBA.

  • They might ask what you learned from your former MBA
  • Why you need a second MBA
  • Are you doing the second MBA merely for the ISB tag

Prepare such questions well and ponder on the real reason why you are found for another MBA. Rather than a hasty decision, you can also wait for a few years and see if a second MBA is really necessary.

How hard is MBA admission at the Great Lakes (Chennai/Gurgaon)?

RS
Ruhee Singhania Posted On : March 16th, 2023
studied at Great Lakes

If you're considering Great Lakes Institute of Management (Chennai/Gurgaon) for MBA, you should be aware that it may not be a good option. There are numerous students with bad experiences during their interviews and found that the companies that come for placement are not very good. The placement process for the PGDM and PGPM batches of Great Lakes Chennai in 2023 has come to an end. The highest package offered was INR 46 LPA, while the average salary for the PGDM batch was INR 14.5 LPA and for the PGPM batch, it was INR 18.10 LPA. Additionally, the campus is small and lacks open spaces or grounds.

So if you're thinking about joining Great Lakes, you should be cautious. It's not a good idea to join just for the sake of doing an MBA. You should choose a business school that will help you build a successful career, not ruin it.

Can I get in to MDI Gurgaon for pursuing my MBA with low academics? My 10th score is 70.4% and my 12th score is 66.6%.

One can easily compensate for poor past academics by scoring extraordinarily well in CAT. Anything below 99 is not acceptable if your past academics are already below average. Moreover, MDI does not give much importance to past academics while shortlisting candidates. They give maximum preference to CAT scores. From what I heard, the interviews are very informal and friendly. Not many formal questions are asked so one can be their true self inside and portray their talents.

However, you should be able to justify your low scores in the later stage.

So focus solely on your CAT preparation with MDI as your target.

What are the prospects of pursuing an MBA in Marketing from IIMs, JBIMS, XLRI, MICA, or SIBM, with poor academics, and how can one compensate for the same?

Your poor academic record can be a major hindrance, especially in summer placements because the companies know you haven’t done anything major yet in the B School. So I will suggest you some tips that might help you compensate for your low 12th class marks and get you a good internship offer

  • Enroll in an online course as this might be a major topic of discussion in the interview. It should preferably be an advanced version of your current course or a unique course.
  • Get involved in volunteer work at NGOs. This will not only prove to be beneficial during your interview but also will help you become a part of social service committees on campus.
  • Master a new language preferably French, Mandarin or Spanish as this may increase your chances of getting International placement or foreign exchange.
  • Look for internships that offer practical knowledge for a short period of time.

As far as the Final Placements are concerned, you will have to improve your profile to attract the best recruiters. Some tips to improve your general profile are

  • Rather than focusing on your past academics, focus on the new phase of your life and give your best
  • Go for courses that offer live projects as recruiters highly prefer such exposure. Sometimes even the on-campus committees offer such live projects. Many times the winners of such projects get amazing PPOs or cash prizes.
  • Joining a good on-campus committee is beneficial not only in maintaining a good campus life but also improving your overall profile. You get amazing exposure by interacting with industry professionals in the corporate world during events and conferences.
  • If you are skilled at writing, do the same for business magazines or websites.

All this will help you make the most out of your MBA experience and also improve your profile enough to attract the best placement offers. The only key is to work hard relentlessly.

MBA at PUMBA 2021

I have a few friends from PUMBA, so I think I can give you some idea about admission to the institute. The criteria required in PUMBA for pursuing MBA is briefed below.

Eligibility Criteria:

A candidate is required to have passed with a minimum of about 50% marks or equivalent CGPA, which is 45% in case of candidates who are either from backward categories or have a physical disability.

Admission Criteria:

Students are required to qualify for the MH - CET exam in case they belong anywhere from Maharashtra. On the other hand, students can apply through CMAT/CAT/MH - CET, if they are from outside of Maharashtra.

Course Structure :

For specialization, there is a provision of 5 main choices to opt from, which are namely Marketing, Finance, Systems, Human Resource, and Operations. In a nutshell, the courses of the institute are of two years, incorporating six trimesters.

The immediate two trimesters mainly prepare you for obtaining a strong foundation on several crucial subjects, such as Finance, Marketing, Systems, Human Resource, Operations. Alongside these, it also helps improve Communications skills, Information Technology, Quantitative Skills, and others in students.

Hope this helps solve your query.

Apart from a high CAT percentile, there are many other ways to get admission into FMA, MDI and XLRI.

  • Good academics are very beneficial and always help in any college selection interview.
  • A well-made resume never hurts and makes you stand out from the rest of the crowd
  • Having a past of doing some volunteer work
  • Candidates that have genuine hobbies, internships, certifications, etc, up their sleeves also have improved chances of selection.
  • The most important requirement for selection is acing the personal interview. During the interview, you should confidently showcase your personality which is a perfect blend of hobbies and academics with clarity of goals.
  • Work experience is also important. Preferably 2 to 3 years.
  • Your confidence level also plays a major part in the selection.

All in all an all-rounded profile with the right mix of extracurriculars, hobbies, and academics will improve your chances of admission.

Is it tough to get admission to Alliance University for an MBA program?

AS
Ankita Sinha Posted On : June 10th, 2021
Studied at Alliance University

No, it’s not tough to get admission to Alliance University for an MBA program. One of my close friends is an MBA alumnus at this university and here are some tips for you from his experience.

Minimal marks are sufficient for you to crack through the entrance. You have to appear for the AU MAT entrance exam or CAT examination and score average marks. Based on the eligibility you will be selected.

The recent cutoff trend for the MBA program at Alliance is as follows.

Examination

Cutoff

CAT

75

NMAT

100

MAT

65

But the problem as of now is not getting admission here. The management of the college has some internal issues and it would be a good choice for you to take admissions elsewhere until they solve the internal issues between them.
