PES University vs Manipal University main campus, which is the better college?

VR
Varun Reddy Posted On : May 2nd, 2026

these are pretty different colleges in terms of environment, so it really depends what you value:

PES University (Bangalore):

  • located in a major tech hub — Bangalore industry exposure is unmatched. tons of internship and networking opportunities just by being in the city
  • strong for CSE/ECE. placements have improved significantly, good mix of startups and product companies
  • most students are day-scholars from Karnataka/Bangalore — commuter college feel
  • admission via PESSAT or JEE/KCET scores

MIT Manipal (Manipal University main campus):

  • residential campus in a small coastal town (Udupi district). full campus life experience, everyone lives on campus
  • very strong in CSE, ECE, Mechanical. good alumni network especially in Gulf and US
  • diverse student body from all over India, strong cultural life
  • fees are higher (~Rs.3-4L/year) but hostel+mess included makes the total cost manageable

which is better? if you want industry exposure + city life and are from South India — PES makes sense. if you want a complete campus experience with residential life, diverse peers, and strong alumni network — MIT Manipal is hard to beat. for non-CSE branches like Mech or ECE especially, Manipal's reputation is stronger nationally.

Lives in Bangalore

It depends on your preferences and interests; the key points listed below might help you get more clarification about both institutes

Branch – If you are into the software field, then choose Goa, which has a fantastic department in Computer Science and Electronics

Growth and Development – If you are a person who gives more importance to personal growth and strength, then BITS Pilani is for you. This institute has a fantastic student culture and gives more prominence to social interactions, which will definitely provide magnificent experiences and incredible college life.

Placement – BITS Pilani is comparatively more popular here than in Goa. Most of the students got placements from recruiters with decent salary packages.

So, it is safer to choose BITS Pilani than BITS Goa.

Which college is better, New Horizon College of Engineering or Dayananda Sagar Academy of Technology and Management (DSATM)?

AB
Aarti Bora Posted On : May 15th, 2021
IIT Madras, IISc Bangalore

I know a few people from both New Horizon College and DSATM. So I will try to give you an idea about them based on what I heard from my friends at the institutes.

New Horizon College of Engineering:

One of my friends was part of the ECE branch at New Horizon. She had a great time at the institute. The faculty, lab attendants are quite supportive. They have working faculties even on Sunday. So, if you missed any classes during the week you can catch up on that. You will have ample freedom at the lab. The labs are well-equipped with the latest instruments and computers.

Dayananda Sagar Academy of Technology and Management:

Comparably DSATM doesn’t offer such facilities. A friend of mine had to do her final projects using external resources, as the computers provided by the institute didn’t have the minimum requirements. Her project guides and her professors were not that supportive either. But in terms of placements, DSR does offer better facilities.

Here’s a brief comparison of both of these institutes.

Parameters

New Horizon College of Engineering

DSATM

Average CTC

5 LPA

4 LPA

Highest CTC

20 LPA

25 LPA

Hope this gives you an idea about the institutes.

How prestigious is JBIMS as a college when we look at all of the India rankings? It doesn’t have very good ranks when I Google the best MBA colleges in India. Is NMIMS better than JBIMS?

YV
Yashluv Virwani Posted On : February 28th, 2023
Post Graduation in Master of Business Administration Degrees & Marketing, Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (Graduated 2018)

JBIMS' overall ranking on Google is impacted by its infrastructure, as the current building is a 1965 construction. However, the construction of a new state-of-the-art facility at Kalina is underway, which will improve JBIMS' ranking in terms of infrastructure.

In terms of return on investment, JBIMS stands out as you pay only 2 lakhs for the entire course and receive an average placement package of 18 LPA. This is a better return than many other top B-Schools, including some IIMs.

JBIMS boasts a strong alumni network, industry-expert faculty, and an ideal location, which are all factors that contribute to its success.

When comparing JBIMS to NMIMS, it can be said that JBIMS is a better choice, with a lower fee structure, a better return on investment, a strong alumni network, and a more experienced faculty. Additionally, JBIMS has a smaller batch size of 120 students, which makes it easier for the college to place its students in top companies.

Has anyone left JBIMS for FMS? If yes, then why?

SM
Swapnil More Posted On : February 20th, 2023
Studied Finance at Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies

I have seen many people forgo offers from MDI, JBIMS, and even IIM Bangalore just for FMS Delhi. There are a number of reasons pertaining to why people make this decision. Some have been listed below

  • Brand: FMS is one of the oldest MBA colleges and boasts a rich legacy and elaborate alumni base. It has given birth to many Managerial talents over the last decades and is a brand in itself. No doubt JBIMS is a good college but it cannot be compared with the brand name of FMS.
  • Location: FMS boasts of a good locational advantage being situated in the heart of the country, Delhi. You can enjoy a lifestyle very similar to that of DU. Also, the budding startups and MNCs in nearby industrial areas like Gurgaon and Noida consider FMS the first choice for recruitment.
  • Fees: The most distinguishing feature of FMS is its highly affordable fees in contrast to the hefty fees of other top B Schools. The fees are almost 1/10th of any other top B School while the placements are as good or even better than these B Schools thereby ensuring a spectacular ROI.

So your first choice has to be FMS unless you are willing to go for the Finance sector. In that case, JBIMS being situated in the Finance capital is a much better choice.

How would you rank the IIITs? Should I prefer IIIT Allahabad or NIT Rourkela?

AA
Aarti Ahuja Posted On : August 18th, 2023
Lives in Allahabad

IIIT Hyderabad and IIIT Ahmedabad are the best IIITs and have similar ages. IIIT Hyderabad fairs are better than IIIT Ahmedabad in terms of its coding culture and the kind of job opportunities it provides.

IIIT Hyderabad students must work extra hard and wake up very early for PT. The institute has a record of attracting a better crowd because a lot accepts only top rankers of JEE Main. One of the drawbacks of the institute is that it’s private and therefore charges hefty fees while IIIT Ahmedabad is a government college so it charges lesser fees.

IIIT Ahmedabad has a bit flexible campus life quite similar to other government colleges like IIT and NITs. Additionally, it also has a rich coding culture with amazing job opportunities.

I don’t find any major differences in the curriculum, campus life, and placement scenario of both the institutes so choose the one that aligns with your preferences. As for choosing one between IIIT Allahabad and NIT Rourkela, go for the former without any second thoughts. IIITs are best suited for coding lovers and people passionate about computers. So if you are one of them, go for any IIIT between these two!

Which college is better: SGSITS, IET-DAVV or JEC for engineering?

AS
Aakash Sharma Posted On : September 17th, 2020
Studies Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science and Engineering at Institute of Engineering and Technology

IET DAVV is one of the most prestigious and sought for engineering colleges in Central India. It is a very decent college when it comes to academics.

SGSITSoffers 14 undergraduate courses as well as 22 postgraduate courses in Engineering and Pharmacy. It is ranked among the top 30-40 national institutes which include IITs as well.

JEC Jabalpur offers Engineering courses in 7 fields and 9 postgraduate courses in various disciplines. Approximately 60 students/ teachers have been awarded a Ph.D. degree from this college.

Placement:

  • IET DAVV and SGSITS, both provide 100% placement opportunities to its students.
  • Topcompanies visit the campuses every year. SGSITS witnessed participation from firms like Goldman Sachs, JK Cement, Mahindra & Mahindra, Snapdealwhile IET DAVV receives firms such as VMware, Accenture, Wipro, Cognizant, Tata Technologies, etc. Firms like IBM, Abode, etc., visit JEC Jabalpur every year.
  • As SGSITS is a very old and renowned college, it has an upper hand because of its humongous alumni network. No placement data is provided by IET DAVV, on the other hand.
  • JEC Jabalpur has an annual package of 7 lakh. When we talk about packages, it is as high as 30 lakh at IET DAVV and 22 lakh at SGSITS.

Fee Structure:

  • The average fee per year for JEC is Rs. 22,300while for IET DAVV and SGSITS, it is Rs. 70,863 per year. A huge difference is observed when the fee of both the colleges is compared with JEC.
  • The same goes for the hostel fee as it is as low as Rs. 2,282 for JEC, Rs. 17,300 for IET DAVV and Rs. 44,400 for SGSITS.

Curriculum:

A number of professorsatSGSITS hold Ph.D.degrees from Tier 1 institutions like IITs or IISC while professors at IET DAVValso have great expertise in respective fields.Faculty is better at IET DAVV or SGSITS, as compared to JEC Jabalpur, and classes are held regularly as well.

The above explanation would be more or less helpful for the students. A lot of confusion penetrates the minds of students when it comes to choosing the appropriate college. When it comes to the ranking of colleges, SGSITS comes first, followed by IET DAVV and JEC for engineering respectively.
