How is St Joseph Engineering College Chennai?

AC
Aryaa Chatterjee Posted On : October 14th, 2021
B.E Electrical and Electronics Engineering, St. Joseph's College of Engineering (2018)

St. Joseph College is a terrific institute with exceptional facilities, as mentioned by their students. Since every college has its own advantages and cons, below are mentioned some of them to help you make a wise decision.

Pros:

  • The food facilities are good.
  • The college has an official portal in which daily updates are uploaded for the students and is easy to access. Students could access notes, previous years examination questions, etc.
  • The faculty is experienced and highly educated. They provide guidance and are quite reliable.
  • There are several clubs at college that you can join.
  • Examinations and class tests are held almost every alternative day to assess the understanding of the course by the students.
  • It is not to keep their schedule hectic but to give them a better knowledge regarding their chosen courses.
  • The placement opportunities are really good.
  • The institute also conducts various training programs to enhance the skills of the students and to prepare them for the competitive corporate sector.

Cons:

  • The pressure of academics is a bit high and if you are someone who leaves preparation at the last minute then you might be overwhelmed.
  • Staff members can be harsh on you too.
  • They have strict rules that every student needs to follow. Failure of which can lead to repercussions.
  • Especially for first year students, the rules are required to be strictly followed.
  • As mentioned before, with exams and academic pressure your college life would be a bit tiring.
  • Majority of your weekends would be occupied with assignments.
  • There is a strict attendance policy and is given a lot of importance in the college.

Overall, like any other college St. Joseph College has its fair share of good and bad qualities. Analyze them and see if it helps in your overall growth or becomes a hurdle. After analyzing you could make the right choice for your career.

How is IIM Ahmedabad different than IIM B, C, K, and I?

NS
Nishad Shah Posted On : November 21st, 2022
Studies at Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (Expected 2023)

IIM Ahmedabad is indeed different from IIM B, C, K, and I in many aspects. Some of these aspects are it’s:

  • Discipline: when it comes to discipline, IIMA tops the list. The first year is a real-life challenge for students with hundreds of cases to study, group assignments and projects.

  • Case pedagogy: This is the highlight of the IIM Ahmedabad curriculum. IIMAs curriculum aligns with that of Harvard Business School. So it focuses more on problem-solving classes.

  • Architecture: IIMs pride lies in its heritage architecture. The red bricks surrounding the semicircular arches enhance the campus’ appearance tenfold.

  • Crowd: Without any doubt, the cream of students get into IIMA. This is because it has the highest cutoff.

  • Faculty: IIMA has top-notch faculty while some of them are IIM Ahmedabad alumni themselves.

IIM Ahmedabad is different from other IIMs in all these aspects. But what really sets it apart is its director Ravi Matthai and his systems cultivating accountability and autonomy.

2020 Cutoff:

The cutoff depends on many parameters and not just only on the CAT score. For example, candidates from non-engineering backgrounds can have a lower cutoff score but still secure a seat due to the diversity point.

Every year, the final selection phase gets completed tentatively by April and the candidates get emails regarding the information and further communication. After being selected, candidates have to reconfirm their choice within a fixed amount of time, and only then they are further communicated and invited for the following rounds.

Is NIT Trichy CSE good?

SP
Shrija Param Posted On : July 20th, 2023
NIT Trichy

The CSE department of NIT Trichy, one of the top NITs second only to the old IITs is indeed a well-regarded branch that has excellent education and placement records. I would say joining this without any doubt will do you no harm. Here is why I consider this branch to be highly regarded

  • The infrastructure is state-of-the-art with great lab facilities.
  • The campus and accommodation facilities offered to NIT Trichy students are one of a kind.
  • Students get to showcase their talents through several platforms
  • The exposure and opportunities offered are excellent, helping to develop your personality as a whole.
  • The student crowd is diverse, improving the overall learning experience.
  • The placements as usual are the best

The CSE curriculum is pretty easy and gives you enough time to explore other passions.

Ultimately, NIT Trichy CSE is a great option if you are someone who has no specific interests and is considering engineering as a safe option for your career.

MBA in Marketing Strategy & Information Technology, Indian School of Business (Graduated 2019)

The simple answer to your question as to why you should do an MBA from ISB is because it is one of the top Indian B Schools that has made its place in globally-acknowledged QS Rankings. It achieved this rank for its 1 year MBA program and surpassed top B Schools like IIM Calcutta.

ISB Hyderabad MBA program has its own benefits and helps in uplifting your career tremendously. Given below are some major perks of pursuing an MBA from ISB

  • It helps you progress better than your peers and acquire the topmost position at your firm
  • It helps broaden your professional network as you interact with professionals from IITs, NITs, and lawyers.
  • The rigorous schedule and campus life offer a plethora of challenges and prepare you for the toughest situations
  • The hostels are not only well-built but have a relaxed ambiance. There is a level of freedom that is often lacking in the case of IIT and other institutes
  • You get to associate yourself with widely famous industry experts who were once students in the same college
  • The Real Capstone Projects’ at ISB facilitates industry-oriented learning and help you learn the basic know-how
  • If you have less time on hand and want to achieve maximum results in a short period of time this 1 year MBA program is perfect for you.

ISB Hyderabad is literally an alternative to Stanford University and a very good choice for someone who wants great results within a year.

Is competitive coding the only key to survive in IIIT Hyderabad?

AC
Anupama Chauhan Posted On : July 28th, 2023
studied at International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad

The preconceived notion that competitive programming or CP is the only way you can survive in a coding-driven institute like IIIT Hyderabad is actually not true. The reason most people believe this is because the media covers only the achievements of CP and ICPC. There isn’t much publicity about the research culture here which is a big reason research enthusiasts consider this institute a good option.

You will be surprised to know that on average, only 5% of UG students do CP regularly, outside of the regular CP-type programming assignments in the first year. If by survival you mean getting noticed then yes, not doing CP may not get you famous here. But that does not mean you cannot survive here.

The ones who aren’t into CP, are busy maintaining systems that actually help in making our lives easier. They work on open-source libraries from all around the world and conduct qualitative research. They publish papers in diverse fields like security, linguistics, vision, robotics, etc

If you are a student here who isn’t interested in either academics or research, you can still survive through minimal efforts.
