Apart from these, the HOD of the respective departments/subjects will also suggest to you some reference books. You should not limit yourself to only these textbooks.
No, in no way is NIT Durgapur better than Jadavpur University. NIT Durgapur's overall ranking by NIRF is 90 out of 200 colleges in India in 2023 while that of Jadavpur University is. JU is placed right after the 7 old IITs and Anna University. Whereas NIT Durgapur is not even in the top 50.
One of my friends got CSE in NIT Durgapur and Electrical Engineering in JU and he chose the latter despite his home being near NIT Durgapur. Here is a brief overview of both the institutes

So unless you are getting a decent branch into 7 IITs, it’s best to go for Jadavpur University.
XLRI will be a better option among these. It is a true-blue B-school. Their HRM program is the best in the country. If you are interested in HRM, XLRI is the best option. Placements and exposure offered in this field are unparalleled. XLRI HRM average package is around INR 23-25 LPA.
TISS is a Social Sciences School. It follows a research-oriented, field-study-based curriculum.
Both of these institutes have a good placement record and offer decent ROI.
If you get both XLRI and TISS, you should choose the latter. Both of these are widely reputed. These offer different value propositions and learnings. XLRI is a true blue B-school. It is competitive and placement-oriented.
TISS isn’t your typical B-school. It is a social sciences school, where placement follows knowledge. They have an opinionated, liberal knowledge-oriented approach towards academics. The pedagogy is research and fieldwork-oriented. You can choose any of the courses as optional irrespective of your course. This will help develop your perspective towards our country.
Placement isn’t an issue for these institutes. You will get good ROI from both. The XLRI vs TISS is a never-ending debate and there isn’t any clear winner. You won’t miss out on any opportunity if you choose one over the other.
There are other advantages of choosing VMMC over the other two colleges, besides its internal PG quota.
First of all, Safdarjung hospital gets really good funding. In the last six years, it has built two new buildings (one Emergency and one Superspeciality). VMMC offers a decent college environment, just like other colleges. The internal PG quota is definitely a big advantage. To get internal medicine at MAMC, you’ll need around AIR 350. On the other hand, at VMMC, you’ll get it with AIR 9000.
This advantage might be diluted as more colleges get added to IPU. Regardless, you’ll be offered a great hospital, and a good college. Between MAMC and UCMS, the former has a locational advantage.
So, here is why you should choose VMMC over MAMC and UCMS.
Both the institutes belong to Symbiosis International University, are famous for placements and other facilities provided. Candidates must qualify for the entrance exam and the following interview and GD for admission. SIBM Banglore and SIIB Pune have an entrance called SNAP.
Admission: Similar admission procedures are there at both institutes. Admissions are based on strict eligibility criteria. Candidates should pass graduation with 50% marks. Final year graduation students can also apply. Qualification in SNAP is compulsory. SIIB Pune IB seat intake is 120.
Placements:
SIIB Pune: When focusing on the placement details, SIIB has 100% placements in the 2018-20 batch. Major recruiters from different industries like American Express, Nestle, Marico, Crisil, Danfoss, Bisleri, Nielsen, etc visit the campus for placements.
SIBM Bangalore: It also has high placement rates. Regular recruiters include AB InBev, Accenture, Bisleri, Britannia, Dell Technologies, TATA motors, ITC, etc.
The institute offers interactive sessions with leaders of top companies throughout the year.
Both the institutes offer scholarship schemes to support their students. The scholarships are based on merit. A fee waiver of 50% is available for the students.
It's highly illogical to compare a Tier-1 engineering college like BITS to a Tier-2 university like Manipal Institute of Technology.
One cannot compare universities like Manipal, VIT, SRM, Jaypee, Amity, etc. to IIT, NIT, and BITS. These colleges have no brand value of their own and most of the people coming here are those who failed to qualify for competitive exams like JEE/BITSAT/AIEEE/etc. Moreover, the exposure and opportunities offered at BITS are unmatched. It's probably the only private engineering college that enjoys excellent global recognition too.
Irrespective of the branch you go for, the BITS Pilani degree has similar value everywhere. The BITS alumni network is great with some of them being co-founders of Redbus, Hotmail, etc.
Here is a brief comparison of these institutes

The only factor you need to consider while joining BITS is the high fees and academic pressure. So choose wisely!
TAPMI PGDM is the best option among these. It is a premier B-School. It has AMBA accreditation for all three of the PGDM programs, i.e. PGDM, PGDM-HR, and PGDM-BKFS.
TAPMI placements are excellent. According to 2022 highlights, the average CTC for the institute is INR 12 LPA. While the highest CTC offered was INR 32 LPA.
The one drawback of TAPMI is the huge student intake. Each batch has over 400 students. The huge batch size often causes a dip in placements.
Since you are looking for the same branch, I think you should give preference to the institutes. That being said, it’s not a brainer that NIT Warangal is much better than NIT Surathkal in terms of academics, job opportunities, and campus life. In fact both the colleges give tough competition to each other since they are among the top 3 NITs.
The only reason I am giving more preference to NIT Warangal is because it has a branch change policy which NIT Surathkal does not. So if after studying Chemical Engineering you realize that it’s not your cup of tea, you can opt for a branch change. However, it’s important to note that this process is neither easy nor tough.
One of my friends studied at NIT Warangal and told me that every year many chemical and biotech students slide to branches like ECE, CSE, Mechanical, etc.
So both are great options with NIT Warangal having a slight upper hand over NIT Surathkal.
NIT Patna has carried this ‘NIT’ tag since 2004. Here are some advantages of joining NITP-
But I would like to warn you that the campus life isn’t really great at NIT Patna. However, the new Bihta campus of NIT Patna is expected to come into existence soon. It will be spread across 125 acres of land.
I would say that NIT Patna is doing quite well and it shouldn’t be compared to other NITs or Thapar. If you have the will to build a bright future for yourself, this institute will definitely help you achieve your dream.
