New Delhi: The Smart India Hackathon 2023, a collaborative effort by the Ministry of Education, MoE's Innovation Cell, and AICTE was held from December 19 to December 23, 2023. The SIH 2023 grand finale showcased many skills, unveiling the proficiency and competency of participants in the hardware industry.

This year, the SIH was concluded at the Manipal Institute of Technology. It witnessed an overwhelming response, receiving a staggering 50,000 ideas from 44,000 teams, marking an extraordinary sevenfold increase compared to its inaugural edition.

The grand finale gathered over 12,000 participants and more than 2500 mentors, with the event staged across 48 nodal centers nationwide.

A distinguished panel of judges, comprising industry professionals and executives, meticulously evaluated the finalists and crowned the Smart India Hackathon 2023 winners. Vinod V Thomas, registrar evaluation at MAHE, addressed the participants and audience, highlighting the collaborative nature of engineering and its role in solving societal challenges. He underscored MAHE's commitment to fostering innovative engineering, aligning with the visionary ideals of its founder, TMA Pai.

MIT Smart India Hackathon 2023 Winners

In the announcement of winners by Cyril Joseph, SPOC of SIH 2023, teams were celebrated for their exceptional problem-solving skills:

  • Team NIET Hacktastic Six from Nehru Institute of Engineering and Technology, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, won SIH 1503 (Ministry of Ayush).
  • Vivekanandha College of Engineering for Women (Autonomous), Tiruchengod, Tamil Nadu, represented by Team Hexa Titans, won SIH 1327 (Government of Kerala).
  • Team Stimutech from KCG College of Technology, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, won SIH 1361 (Government of Gujarat).
  • Adamas University, Kolkata, won SIH 1323 (Government of Kerala) with their team STERI-SQUAD.

Anil Rana, director of MIT Manipal, commended all participants for their resilience and commitment, urging them to uphold their spirit of innovation. Drawing inspiration from TechShilla, a platform at MIT Manipal dedicated to student projects persisting despite encountering obstacles, he encouraged participants to pursue creative thinking and originality, regardless of the outcomes they faced.
