Is there any change in JEE Mains 2026 Exam Pattern?

In 2025, the National Testing Agency (NTA) introduced a major change in the JEE Main Exam Pattern by removing the optional choice in Section B, which includes numerical questions.

Previously, candidates were allowed to attempt any five out of ten questions, but under the revised format, all five numerical questions in each subject are now compulsory. According to some sources, this change is likely to continue in JEE Main 2026 as well.

Apart from this, the exam mode is expected to remain the same, with most sections being conducted in computer-based mode, while the Drawing section in the B.Arch paper will still be held in pen-and-paper format.

The overall structure of the exam is also expected to continue without alterations, with Paper 1 for B.E./B.Tech aspirants, Paper 2A for B.Arch, and Paper 2B for B.Planning.

Document Required for JEE Main 2026

Candidates applying for JEE Main 2026 must keep certain documents ready to avoid rejection of their forms. As per the advisory, an updated Aadhar Card or valid government ID, UDID card (if applicable), and Caste/Category certificates are mandatory for eligible candidates.

In addition, a scanned passport-sized photograph and signature in the prescribed format must be uploaded while filling the application. Any discrepancy in these documents may lead to cancellation of the application.
