IIT Mandi has launched five new BTech, BE programs in line with the NEP 2020 in the emerging fields of General Engineering, Microelectronics and VLSI, Materials Sciences, Chemical Science and Mathematics & Computing. Read the full details here!

New Delhi: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Mandi has launched five new engineering undergraduate programs for the academic session 2023-24. Selection of applicants for admission seats will be based on marks secured in JEE (Advanced) exam.

The IIT Mandi’s newly launched UG courses include a one-of-a-kind BTech program in General Engineering, BTech in Microelectronics and VLSI, BTech in Materials Science and Engineering, BTech in Mathematics & Computing and BS in Chemical Sciences.

These IIT Mandi programs are designed to introduce participants to specialized knowledge and upgrade their skills in emerging fields with the aim to provide diverse career opportunities. These programs will be offered to students in line with National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

IIT Mandi BTech, BS Program 2023 Overview

Program Name Objective
BTech in General Engineering It is a one-of-its-kind program that aims to provide an understanding of fundamental engineering principles
BTech in Micro Electronics and VLSI It aims to introduce participants to the device level, design, fabrication, and CAD tools using industry-standard EDA tools.
BTech in Material Science and Engineering It aims to offer materials science, emphasizing engineering applications and employable skills for students.
BTech in Mathematics & Computing It aims to offer a strong foundation in mathematics, computing, and computational thinking with a focus on developing analytical and problem-solving skills.
BS Program in Chemical Sciences It is a unique and comprehensive 4-year Bachelor of Science (BS) program in Chemical Sciences which will include key branches of Chemistry, including Organic, Inorganic, Physical, and Materials Chemistry.

Informing about the new courses, Prof Laxmidhar Behera, Director of IIT Mandi, said, “IIT Mandi continues to prioritize academic excellence and innovation, ensuring that students receive a comprehensive education that prepares them for the evolving demands of the industry”.

“Considering the need for manpower with interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary, and transdisciplinary skill sets for the ever-evolving world, the newly introduced programs at IIT Mandi will help the students to prepare for the industry standards while exploring the unique aspects of these NEP 2020-aligned programs”, he further added.
