New Delhi: The IIT Kanpur has joined hands with Canadian Biotechnology Firm Conlis Global Inc. to licence a technology to advance bone healing and regeneration. Conlis Global Inc. specialises in transforming products from research and development phase to the marketplace.
As per IIT Kanpur, the technology, titled "Nano Hydroxyapatite-Based Porous Polymer Composite Scaffolds for Bioactive Molecule Delivery in Musculoskeletal Regeneration," was developed by Prof. Ashok Kumar and his team at Department of Biological Sciences & Bioengineering at IIT Kanpur.

The technology is designed for bone regeneration, offering both osteoinductive and osteopromotive properties. It aims to overcome limitations and complications associated with current treatments, providing a novel approach for delivering bone-active molecules and drugs to address bone pathologies and irregular defects while supporting dental applications.
The MoU was signed at IIT Kanpur by Prof Tarun Gupta, Dean of Resources and Development IIT Kanpur, and Dr Sumrita Bhat, CEO of Conlis Global Inc. According to Prof. S. Ganesh, Director of IIT Kanpur, licensing this innovative technology to Conlis Global marks a significant milestone in the institute's research and development efforts.
The event was attended by Prof S Ganesh, Director of IIT Kanpur, Prof Ankush Sharma, Professor in charge of Start-up Incubation and Innovation Centre (SIIC) at IIT Kanpur, Prof Ashok Kumar from the Department of Biological Sciences & Bioengineering at IIT Kanpur, and Dr Raman Koul, Chief Technology Officer at Conlis Global Inc.
