BGSBU Begins PhD Admission for Academic Session 2025; Apply before December 17

Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU), Rajouri, has officially opened online applications for admission to its PhD programmes for the academic session 2025. The university is offering research opportunities across 21 disciplines.

Interested candidates must apply through the university's Samarth Portal at https://bgsbuadmission.samarth.edu.in/. The application fee is ₹600, and the last date for submission is 17 December 2025.

Candidates must hold a master’s degree with at least 55% marks, or a 4-year bachelor's degree with research and 75% marks. A relaxation of 5% is available for SC/ST/OBC and other reserved categories. Candidates who have completed an M.Phil. programme with the required marks are also eligible.

Admissions will be conducted under four categories, prioritising candidates with national-level qualifications. Category 1 (NET/JRF/GATE/CEED qualified candidates) will be admitted based solely on interview performance. Categories 2 and 3 (NET/SET qualified candidates without JRF) will be evaluated using 70% weightage for the national-level test score and 30% for the interview. Category 4 applicants with an M.Phil. degree will also follow a 70:30 evaluation pattern.

If seats remain vacant, the university will conduct its own entrance test, comprising Research Methodology and subject-specific questions. Candidates securing 50% (with relaxation for reserved groups) will qualify for the interview. Final selection will be based on 70% entrance score and 30% interview performance.
