GITAM GAT conducts gamified entrance tests for English and logical reasoning

New Delhi:  The Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management (GITAM) has revolutionised the way of conducting entrance tests by gamifying the concept of the test. GITAM GAT 2023 was held in gamified formats for the first time ever across all GITAM campuses viz., Vishakhapatnam, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and GIMSR. Approximately 8,000 students participated in the said examination, and according to statistical claims put forward by the institution and its authorities, the numbers are expected to rise exponentially in the next phases of the development of the exam, which is likely to happen in the forthcoming academic years.

The entrance exam tested fields such as logical reasoning, decision-making, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, language and vocabulary, etc. The examination was held in real-time for precision and accuracy, and to make the experience fun and engaging. The questions were generated by the system so as to avoid plagiarised answers as much as possible.

The test contained 30 questions which were meant to be answered within 50 minutes.

PAVS Sekhar, senior director of admissions at GITAM (deemed to be University) explained the decision to gamify the entrance tests and said, “By gamifying the test, we hope to encourage students to take an active role in their own learning and help them to develop the skills they need to succeed in their academic pursuits."

The test also had other sections like the science-based questions that were in Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) format, whereas other courses like BBA, MBA, law, sciences, and humanities had an additional interview round along with online tests. The multiple-choice questions (MCQ) format comprised 70 questions, out of which 30, 30, and 20 MCQs for maths or biology, physics, and chemistry were given, respectively, to be answered within 80 minutes.
