DU UG Admission

New Delhi: Delhi University published the DU stimulated rank list for admission to undergraduate programs on July 29. All applicants who enrolled for DU's UG Admission 2023 can check the list at the university's official website i.e., admission.uod.ac.in.

The list is prepared based on the CUET 2023 scores and preferences of the candidates. Almost 45 colleges have participated in the DU UG Admission for the academic session 2023–2024.

Candidates may change, add, or remove their selections on the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) portal by July 30, 2023 up to 11.59 p.m. Next week, DU will make the inaugural seat allocation list available to the public.

According to DU’s administrators, the simulated list is intended to assist students in determining the likelihood of allocations to a specific degree. The list, the officials noted, is not set in stone and is subject to change if candidates' preferences for programmes and colleges change.

The third stage of the application process will begin on August 1, 2023, and will deal with seat distribution and admissions based on student's preferences for specific college courses. Candidates may accept their position by August 4, 2023. Colleges must review and approve all student applications by August 5, 2023. The online fee payment cutoff for the first admission round is August 6, 2023 (up to 4.59 p.m.).

According to DU officials, after a seat is assigned in a specific round, the candidate must "accept" the seat by the deadline for that round of allocation; inactivity or inaction would be interpreted as non-acceptance.

Till 2021 students were admitted to the university on the basis of their performance in the Class 12 board examinations.

The cutoffs for several courses even shot up to 100% in some years. But as of last year, the CUET has become the basis for DU admissions.

Candidates can view the simulated rank on their admission registration screens, according to Haneet Gandhi, dean of admissions at the University of Denver.

“The simulated ranks, which are based on the ratings and preferences provided by candidates, should be understood to be provisional. These rankings should not be interpreted as a guarantee, either stated or implicit, as the establishment of a reasonable expectation, or as the final rankings for admission to any course of study or college,” said Gandhi.

She claimed that because students can modify, add, or remove preferences up to July 30, 2023, the final ranks in a programme are likely to alter.

Candidates who want to change their choices must save them since the preference that was most recently stored will be taken into consideration. Only preferences saved through Sunday, July 30, up to 11:59 p.m. will be considered final, according to the institution.

After the list was published, some applicants declared they would reorder their preferences according to ranks, while others stated they would wait until the first allocation list on August 1, 2023 at 5 o'clock.

“The simulated ranks are not final ranks. How much the actual rank will differ from the simulated rank is unclear. I am anticipating the final list and hoping to get into the college of my choice,” stated Saif Khan who is seeking admission in BA (Hons) History.

DU offers admission to 71,000 undergraduate seats across 68 colleges, 78 undergraduate programs, and 198 BA (Bachelor of Arts) program combinations.

The number of applicants for admission to DU increased significantly this year, from 217,653 in 2022 to 245,239. This 12.7% rise was ascribed by officials to more students participating in the CUET.

This year, Kirori Mal College received the most applications, with 161,533 students choosing the institution on their applications. Hindu College came in second position with 158,548 applications, followed by Hansraj College (157,162) and Ramjas (156,068).

On the CSAS portal, students could choose as many colleges as they wished, after all. As a result, the same student will have submitted applications to several universities.
