New Delhi: As per the latest announcement made by CU Chancellor Satnam Singh Sandhu, Chandigarh University has decided to offer its support to 700 Indian students who are facing deportation from Canada due to fake admission letters.

Many students who were planning to study in Canada have fallen prey to fake college admission offer letters by fraudulent consultants. Due to this, over 700 candidates, mostly from Punjab, are being forced to depart from Canada and are in desperate need of help.

To provide support to these students, CU Chancellor has decided to work closely with authorities to resolve the issue. Information about the situation, Satnam Singh Sandhu said, “Our government is working closely with their counterparts in Canada to resolve the issue which we are hopeful will happen soon”. Chandigarh University will help them in pursuing their courses abroad in their dream college through legal ways. The officials are also exploring opening a helpline number to provide assistance to affected students and their families.

CU Chancellor said, "The university will provide every possible help to these students if they are deported. We will give them admission and enrol them in the same batches. Their credit score mapping will be carried out properly so that the credits earned by them in their previous institutions are not wasted”.

In addition to this, “the students will be offered an opportunity to pursue bridge courses if any gap is found during the credit score mapping. The university will make sure that they do not face any loss”, he further added.

The announcement was made during the CU Annual Convocation 2023 held on Friday, June 16, 2023. At the event, over 1,400 students were awarded UG, PG and PhD Degrees in the presence of Former President, Ram Nath Kovind who joined the convocation as a chief guest.
