Dr. Rakesh Sahu is the Principal at the Gandhi P.R. College. With an M.Sc. in Zoology and an M.Ed. degree, he also has a PhD in Education. Additionally, he holds a B.Sc. in CBZ, PGDCA and a B.Ed. degree. He has 19 years of experience in academia, working at renowned institutes such as Johari Professional College, DCAB College of Education, Abhilasha College of Education, and SSM College of Education, among others. He has published two books titled, "Education in India- Status, Problems and Issues” in 2017 and Pedagogy of Physical Science in 2019. Dr. Sahu has also worked in the capacity of a paper setter and invigilator. He has attended two workshops, 11 national seminars and five international seminars. Moreover, he has published papers in his area of research in 16 journals.

You have held key positions at education institutes throughout your professional career. What keeps you connected with the education sector and how has your experience been so far with the institute?

I believe education can change lives. I've spent my career helping young people grow and learn, which has been incredibly rewarding. Gandhi P.R. College shares my belief in giving students a well-rounded education. We focus on teaching in the best possible ways and preparing students for the future. It has been a very grateful journey.

Being the principal of your institute, what is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style?

I believe in making a friendly workplace where everyone can work together and improve together. I lead by example and talk openly with my team. I think each person has their own strengths and it's important to let them use these while we work towards our goals.

How does the curriculum of your institute ensure the best practice of industry?

Gandhi P.R. College is a lively place of learning where our main aim is to help students become not just smart, but also caring and well-rounded people. Picture our college as a strong temple, held up by pillars of good management, knowledgeable teachers, talented students, plenty of opportunities, and a supportive atmosphere. Any insights into how your institute could be more welcoming to students of different races or economic backgrounds?

As a minority institute, our commitment to inclusivity is integral to our values. Our teachers come from different places, and we celebrate our diverse cultures with different events. We quickly deal with any problems to make sure every student feels important. Our goal is to create students who are skilled, positive, and caring about others, ready for work and life. We also focus on helping the community and teaching good values, so our students can be independent and successful. Any student who faces economic challenges can avail of scholarship facilities.

What do you think will be the College’s top priority over the next 10 years?

Our main goal for the next ten years is to keep serving our community through education, with the help of respected leaders. We want to help students become independent by giving them good-quality education that teaches important values. Our aim is to make our students do well in their studies and feel confident and wise in real life. Our college follows modern education ideas and focuses on working with other institutions nationally and internationally, helping the community, and meeting industry needs. We stand out as a special place of learning because of our efficient management, smart teachers, talented students, lots of opportunities, and a supportive atmosphere.

Any suggestions you would like to give to the current youth and the aspiring students?

I would advise students to be good human beings first. Stay focused on your studies as this is a crucial period right now. Learn the right skills you need to succeed in your career. Also, be mindful when using social media. It is easy to consume the wrong media or to post something you will regret later.
