Dr. Nikita Sagar is the Principal of the Tagore Institute of Research and Technology in Gurgaon. An experienced professional, she holds a B.Sc. in Computer Science, followed by an M.Phil. in CS, an M.Sc. in Computer Science and Application, an MCA in Computer Science and Application, an M.Tech. in Computer Science Engineering, and a PhD from CMJ University.

Dr. Sagar is a published writer and has written two books. Besides books, she has also written for international and national journals and is a regular attendee of workshops in her field.

You have held key positions at education institutes throughout your professional career. What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector? 

The most essential factors for the success of students' learning are motivation, readiness to learn, and upskilling for current trends. I have been associated with the education sector for the last 15 years. Being able to teach the next generation and see them succeed is what keeps me motivated and connected with this field.


Being the Principal of Tagore Institute of Research & Technology, what is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style? 

My leadership philosophy includes possessing core values like prompt decision-making, problem-solving, and bringing growth and development to the organisation. My leadership philosophy includes the core principles, perspectives, and values that I bring forth when leading other people. I make an attempt to listen to everyone and give guidance in whatever capacity is possible.


Being the Principal of Tagore Institute of Research & Technology, how do you strategize about the key programs and plans for the marketing and administration of your school? 

I follow a marketing plan that involves my whole team and gets them on board to work together. Some of our recent major duties include redesigning the college website, improving our search engine strategy, and starting a college blog. We also have plans in place to invest in consistent, meaningful social media ads. All of these are meant to attract more students to our courses.


The education systems in India and other foreign countries are structured very differently. In your experience, what can an inbound student gain from studying here in your institute? 

The study opportunities available at our college are designed to be distinctive, innovative, and advanced. We want our students to gain a fruitful experience and achieve new heights in their academic careers after studying with us.

How does the curriculum of Tagore Institute of Research & Technology ensure the best practice of industry? 

With the introduction of advanced teaching methodologies, students are exposed to maximum practical learning. Our placement committee is very strong at building industry students' interfaces. Additionally, our mandatory internships during the final semesters give our students a real taste of the industry within the course.


Any insights into how your university could be more welcoming to students of different races or economic backgrounds? 

Diversity on our college campuses is highly emphasised. It creates space for students to discuss different perspectives, learn from peers who come from various backgrounds, and share experiences. We do not discriminate on the basis of race or economic background. We have facilities in place to help students be on par with other students.


What do you think your roles and responsibilities to the institutes and the students are? 

As the Principal, I am the academic and administrative leader of the college. I plan and supervise the execution of annual academic plans, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities in consultation with the staff of the college. I strive for the overall development of the college.


What do you think should be the institute’s top priority over the next 10 years? 

The institute’s top priority over the next ten years will be to give quality education to its students. We want to give our students a sense of purpose and the competencies they need to shape their own lives and contribute to the lives of others.
