Dr Praveen Kumar Ashok is the director at Gyani Inder Singh Institute of Professional Studies, Dehradun. He has done his B.Pharma and M.Pharma from Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University, Bareilly and Vinayaka Mission’s Research Foundation, Salem, Tamil Nadu. Dr Parveen completed his PhD from Shri Venkateshwara University, Uttar Pradesh.

He has vast academic and industrial experience and worked as a production chemist trainee at G.C Pharma Remedies Pvt. Ltd. He has published more than 60 publications to his credit in journals of national and international repute. Dr. Parveen has guided 24 M.Pharma research scholars for Ph.D.

Gyani Inder Singh Institute of Professional Studies (GISIPS) is managed by professionals and academicians from India and abroad. The institute is dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in higher education, including human values, personality traits and the all-round development of the youth.

What motivated you to be in the education sector?

The sense of commitment towards society to expand the horizon of literacy for youth can have a transformative effect on their lives, providing them with the tools and knowledge necessary to succeed in today’s rapidly changing world. By committing to this goal, you are making a positive contribution to society, and helping to create a more equitable society. One way is by volunteering your time and skills to mentor and tutor young people. You can also support local literacy programs and initiatives, such as after-school reading programs or community libraries. Additionally, you can advocate for policies and resources that promote literacy education and access for all young people.

What changes do you want to see in the education sector in future?

Education should be equilibrated to industrial exposure so that employment can be generated faster. Increased use of technology has already had a significant impact on education, and this trend is likely to continue. This could include the use of artificial intelligence, virtual and augmented reality, and other emerging technologies to enhance the learning experience.

Any suggestions you would like to give to the current youth and the aspiring students?

My suggestions are as follows:

  • Focus and dedication towards achievement of their main objectives.
  • Set goals and work towards them, having clear goals can help you stay focused and motivated.
  • Identify what you want to achieve and create a plan to make it happen. Education doesn’t just happen in the classroom. 
  • Be curious about the world around you and seek out opportunities to learn new things. This could include reading books, attending workshops, or volunteering in your community.

How does the curriculum of your college ensure the best practice of the industry?

Pharma and Nursing courses are already catering to the needs of society in the desired manner. Collaborating with industry partners can provide opportunities for students to gain practical experience through internships and other work-based learning. It also provides opportunities to faculty members for professional development and training. This will ensure that they are up-to-date with the latest industry practices and trends.

What is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership?

At our institution, we foster a culture of loyalty and ownership as essential principles for achieving positive results. We firmly believe that loyalty and ownership are integral to creating a collaborative and productive environment that drives success. Loyalty, to us, means cultivating a deep sense of commitment and dedication to the institution, its mission, and its values. Loyalty also extends to our students, as we strive to provide them with the best possible educational experience, guidance, and support throughout their journey.

At our institution, we understand that discipline goes beyond mere adherence to rules and regulations. We believe that by practising discipline, students develop the resilience and determination necessary to overcome challenges, achieve their goals, and lead meaningful lives.
