Being a Faculty of the XYZ Department, what are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

A faculty shall engage classes regularly and punctually, impart lessons and instruction to the students, develop methodology to educate students about a particular topic and then implementing the same in the classroom, development of course handout material, development of audio-visual/ multimedia materials for the topic presented and prepares and executes lesson plan with an aim of completing the syllabus within time. 


How do you tend to establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty?

I maintain healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty member by following the given ways such as being trustworthy, available to listen to the students, ask questions, support colleagues, offer help to the needy staff, respect boundaries, be real, share your experiences with the students, have a good sense of humour and attend student events. 


How do you try to bring in a practical approach towards subjects and make it industry oriented?

I bring in a practical approach towards subjects by asking questions and seeking student’s opinions, assess the level of knowledge in the room and tailor my teaching accordingly, get students to present work themselves, use multimedia while teaching, encourage group discussion, industry visits, field work and case studies. 


What are the best practices offered by the department to the students which help them gain necessary skills?

We use a variety of teaching methods, devote class time to getting to know the students, integrate technology into the classroom, embrace project-based learning, let students have choices, play some learning games and make learning more personal.

How do you strategize the curriculum and how often it gets updated to make it befitting for the students?

Our curriculum gets updated after every semester to meet the growing demands of the industry. Our curriculum is designed by following an exhaustive search approach in which we identify resources, develop experiences that meet our objectives, collect and devise materials, develop plans, methods and processes and create students' experience.


What are your views on the placements and higher education of the students from your department or How does your department prepare students for Higher education?

Our department prepares for higher education by establishing long term goals or objectives in tips to prepare for higher education, perform extensive research, examine student language proficiency to prepare for higher education, give advice when needed, cultivate soft skills, hand- on practical experiences and by conducting regular seminars and workshops. 


How do you help your student to cope up with the competition being so high in the outside world?

I generally encourage students to have positive competition and encourage them for teamwork. I also create varied lesson plans, offer rewards, set goals for them and ask them to be enthusiastic in their lives. 


Do you have any extracurricular activities/ programs to enhance the skills of the students or expose them to real world challenges?

Yes, we do have some extra-curricular activities and programs like sports/ games so that students can release their stress and enjoy some free time in college. Also organizing the talent hunts and quiz contests for students. To enhance the skills of the students we organize different activities like workshops/ seminars/guest lectures/ field trips/industry training etc.


What are the challenges you faced/ are facing to uplift the quality of education of your department?

Despite its long history of learning and knowledge, the department has faced numerous challenges, including unequal access to education, outdated curricula, and inadequate funding.


When you came to college, what was your vision and how are you trying to achieve the same?

My vision was to provide affordable quality education, while equipping students with knowledge and skills in their chosen stream, inculcate values, identify hidden talents and providing opportunities for students to realize their full potential and thus shape them into future leaders, entrepreneurs and above all good human beings.


How does the curriculum of your department/college ensure the best practice of the industry?

The curriculum of our department/college ensures the best practice of the industry by continuous monitoring, by identifying slow learners, providing encouragement to active learners, feedback process, evaluation process and input for curriculum development.


How does the department/ college/University enhance the skills of the faculty and prepare them according to the industry standards?

The skills of the faculty members can be enhanced by maintaining good infrastructure, providing skills to the teachers, offering extracurricular activities to the students, proper implementation of a government’s initiative, having assessment and evaluation tools and through community building. 


What do you see as the department’s/ college’s greatest strengths and how it can be enhanced?

Our strengths are many including well trained, research oriented, experienced, dedicated and energetic teaching faculty, supportive non-teaching and laboratory staff, excellent and well-maintained infrastructure in the form of new building, good teaching and learning environment supported by prolific library, well-equipped laboratories and impressive and excellent result at university examinations. We can enhance our strength by embracing our weaknesses and acknowledging the growth areas. 


What valuable advice would you like to the students for them to have a prosperous career ahead?

I would like to suggest students to make their accomplishments known. Don't let your lack of knowledge about a subject or others' lack of confidence in you hold you back. If you can see yourself doing something, you have won more than half the battle. If you can see yourself as successful, others will see you that way too
