Dr. R.C.L. Das is the Head of the Department of the Mathematics Department at Yogada Satsang Mahavidyalay. He joined the institution on October 1, 1985, as a faculty member in the Mathematics Department. He completed his MSc in Mathematics and followed it up with a PhD from Darbhanga. He has also been entrusted with the responsibility of overseeing the Computer Department in the Vocational Department, which offers courses such as BCA, BSc IT, and BBA.

To enhance the employability and market readiness of our students, we have recently introduced skill development programs. These programs aim to equip students with industry-relevant skills and provide them with exposure to job opportunities. Yogada Satsang Mahavidyalay boasts a well-equipped campus with state-of-the-art facilities to facilitate an enriching learning experience. Our library is a treasure trove of knowledge, housing a vast collection of books that cater to the varied interests of our students. Additionally, we have dedicated spaces for yoga and gym facilities, promoting physical and mental well-being among our students. Our college canteen ensures that students have access to wholesome meals, and we have a bank on campus for their convenience.

Recognizing the importance of extra-curricular activities, we encourage our students to participate in various programs. Our college has been honored as the best college in Ranchi University for our yoga center, where students can engage in yoga and meditation practices. We take pride in our NCC program, which has been acknowledged as the best in the region. To facilitate uninterrupted study and provide additional support to our students, we have established a unique reading room with computer facilities to engage in self-study. To address any doubts or queries, we have created WhatsApp groups dedicated to specific subjects, enabling students to easily connect with their respective teachers and seek clarification.

What are the best practices offered by the department to the students which help them gain necessary skills?

At Yogada Satsang Mahavidyalay, we strive to bring a practical approach to our subjects and make them industry-oriented. We believe that a strong theoretical foundation must be complemented by practical applications and industry exposure to prepare our students for real-world challenges. To facilitate this, we organize various workshops, seminars, and lectures on special topics relevant to different disciplines. These events provide students with the opportunity to interact with industry experts, gain insights into emerging trends, and understand the practical applications of their subjects. Additionally, we ensure that our students have access to both online and offline classes. This blended approach allows for flexibility and adaptability in teaching and learning, especially in the current digital age.

In line with promoting practical exposure, we also organize industrial visits for our students. These visits provide firsthand experience of industrial processes, operations, and the application of theoretical knowledge in real-world scenarios. Furthermore, we take pride in the accomplishments of our students. To ensure the continued development of necessary skills, we maintain a strong connection with our alumni. Their experiences and insights into the industry help our students understand the requirements and challenges they may encounter in their careers.

How did you train yourself/faculty to deliver this program to the students?

To enhance skills and knowledge, we provide regular teacher training programs to our faculty members. These programs consist of lectures, seminars, and workshops conducted by experienced educators and experts in their respective fields. These sessions cover various aspects such as the latest course content, pedagogical techniques, assessment methods, and emerging trends in education.

Furthermore, our faculty members actively participate in professional development activities outside the college. They attend conferences, workshops, and training programs organized by educational institutions, research centers, and professional associations. Additionally, we foster a collaborative environment where faculty members can share their experiences, exchange ideas, and learn from one another. By investing in the training and development of our faculty members, we ensure that they remain updated with the latest advancements in their respective fields and are equipped with the necessary skills to deliver the program effectively. 

Do you have any extracurricular activities/ programs to enhance the skills of the students or expose them to the real world challenges?

To promote physical fitness and sportsmanship, we have dedicated sports facilities available to our students. We have a team of two faculty members who are responsible for organizing and overseeing various sports activities, both indoor and outdoor. We also offer National Cadet Corps (NCC) and National Service Scheme (NSS) programs. These programs provide students with opportunities to engage in community service, social activities, and develop leadership skills. 

To further enhance the skills of our students, we have introduced skill development programs. These programs focus on personality development, communication skills, and industry-specific knowledge. Recently, we have introduced a skill development certificate course specifically for girls above 18 years, which aims to enhance their employability and support them in the placement process. Through these extracurricular activities and programs, we aim to nurture the overall personality and talents of our students. 

What are the types of projects that the students are working on through this program?

The college utilizes solar energy by harnessing it from solar panels installed on its rooftop. It actively promotes awareness about solar energy usage by showcasing how the campus effectively integrates and benefits from this renewable energy source. Through seminars, the college educates students on the effective utilization of solar energy.

What do you see the department’s/ college’s greatest strengths and how it can be enhanced? 

"One of the greatest strengths of our department and college is the emphasis on discipline. We firmly believe that discipline plays a crucial role in shaping the character and success of our students. Our teachers are dedicated and work tirelessly to impart knowledge and skills to the students. They go the extra mile to ensure that the students receive quality education and are well-prepared for their future endeavors. 

To maintain discipline and resolve any issues that may arise, we have a proctorial board in place. This board comprises experienced members who serve as mentors to the students and provide guidance whenever required. In addition to discipline, we also prioritize the well-being and holistic development of our students. We organize counseling seminars and programs to provide emotional and psychological support to our students. We also work on expanding our infrastructure and resources to provide a conducive learning environment for our students.

When you came to the college, what was your vision and how are you trying to achieve the same? 

When I joined this college, my vision was to make a positive impact on society by providing quality education and producing skilled and creative individuals. One of the key aspects of achieving this vision has been the implementation of various activities and initiatives aimed at enhancing the educational experience for our students. We have established independent computer lab facilities to ensure that our students have access to the latest technologies and resources. 

The college has been a strong support system in helping me achieve my vision. They have provided the necessary resources and infrastructure required to facilitate the learning and growth of our students. We have also collaborated with industry partners to offer internships, workshops, and guest lectures, allowing our students to gain practical exposure and prepare them for the demands of the professional world.

My ultimate vision is to continue expanding the college's student population and ensure that our graduates are not only academically strong but also well-equipped with the necessary skills to succeed in their chosen fields. 

What is the Procedure to take admission in this college?

The admissions process in our college has recently undergone a change. Previously, we offered direct admissions to eligible students. From this year, there will be a combined admission test conducted by the universities that will serve as a standardized evaluation for admission to various colleges, including ours.

The universities will publish a combined admission list based on the performance of students in the entrance test. From this list, students can choose Yogada Satsang Mahavidyalay as their preferred college and proceed with the admission process.

It is important for aspiring students to stay updated with the notifications and announcements from the universities regarding the admission test and its registration process. 

Any suggestions you would like to give to the current youth and the aspiring students? 

In terms of suggestions, I would like to advise the current youth and aspiring students to follow their dreams and pursue their passions with dedication and determination. It is important to identify your interests and choose a career path that aligns with your strengths and aspirations. For students who have completed their graduation degree, I highly recommend considering pursuing a master's degree. A master's degree can provide specialized knowledge and skills in a particular field, and it can open up new opportunities for career growth and advancement. 

I understand that financial constraints can be a challenge for some students. However, that there are various government programs and scholarships available to support students who wish to pursue higher education, including management courses. Furthermore, I emphasize the importance of continuous learning and self-improvement. The world is evolving rapidly, and it is crucial for students to stay updated with the latest developments in their respective fields.
