Dr. Neha Sharma is a Professor and the Head of the Department at SRK University. She has completed a BCA degree from Government Narmada College and an MBA degree from the Institute of Professional Education and Research, Bhopal. With over a decade’s worth of experience, Dr. Sharma also holds a PhD from the Mahatma Gandhi Chitrakoot Gramodaya Vishwavidyalaya.

Being a Faculty of the SRK Institute of Management, what are your roles and responsibilities towards the students? 

Being the faculty of this department, my role and responsibility is to interact with the students in a transparent manner so that they feel free to communicate their concerns and problems in a detailed manner. This in turn helps us to understand them and explain them things in a proper manner. Additionally, if students are facing problems in the interaction and have communication problems with the faculty regarding the syllabus, they can connect with me and we will work at clearing their doubts.

How do you tend to establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty?

The basic requirement for healthy relationships is to interact with each other. Open-ended communication is a must as it will create bonding and people will be comfortable expressing ideas, views and various other problems that are going on in their lives. We also have the same culture among our faculty members. We can talk about any matter, including current affairs. This helps us solve each other's problems and bond.

How are you trying to bring a practical approach toward your subject & make it industry oriented?

Doing an MBA is not an easy task. A practical approach is a must, as it defines MBA in a broader sense. For example, if you are in an organisation and you need to perform a certain task, it will not be possible to do it with a theoretical approach. It is important to have the practical knowledge to do certain activities. MBA teaches us to have more of a practical approach than a theoretical approach. We cover all the topics through various activities and assessments.

How do you help your student to cope up with the competition being so high in the outside world?

Today’s environment has cutthroat competition; tackling this requires a versatile path. That means a student must complete their education in such a way that they can adapt to various situations and scenarios. This will enable them to be prepared to tackle various difficulties in an easier manner. For example, we should follow current trends to have the capability to forecast various things in our lives and stay prepared to adapt to various situations.

Do you have any extracurricular activities/ programs to enhance the skills of the students or expose them to real world challenges? 

We do provide extracurricular activities for our students. We organise numerous events, such as seminars, sporting events, cultural events, industrial expert lectures, quiz competitions and various other engagements. All of these are meant to enhance the skills of the students.

Any valuable advice would you like to give to your students to have a prosperous career ahead?

Students should have a vision and have the ability to forecast things in advance to be ready to face the difficulties that may come in their lives. They should never stop learning, as it helps them grow in the future. Always think of yourself as a learner. I, as a professor, follow these, and so should a student too.
