Being a Professor at UUC, what are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

Being the faculty of the Department, my prime responsibility is to work for the growth of our students because these young minds are our future generations, hence whatever we do, we do in keeping in mind how their requirements can be addressed in the best possible way. Along with this, ensuring everything runs smoothly in the department and teachers academic and research needs could be met on time. Last but not the least, keeping our curriculum relevant and updating it from time to time keeps the mind in the dynamic of the Visual Arts subject also comes under the scope of my work.

How do you bring in a practical and industry-oriented approach towards subjects?

The subjects we are teaching to students under our courses are very practical oriented and along with concentration on theoretical aspects, needs a lot of emphasis on hands-on practice. Hence to bridge the gap between students' skills and industry demands, we regularly provide them with different types of training programs and also arrange discussion sessions so that they can stay up-to-date about the market. Along with this, field visits are conducted from time to time so that students can observe actual working and that too on ground level and can also learn how people and processes work together in an organization. Lastly, they are encouraged to learn about Pantones and other aspects of how a pipeline works.

What challenges are you facing in uplifting the education quality of your department?

As we all know that education is a dynamic sector, hence we as an institution face different kinds of hurdles at different points of time, but these challenges help us to improve ourselves on a regular basis. I do feel some of our systems are outdated but the recent shift to the new campus has brought updated systems for us which we can use to teach students in a better way.

How does UUC enhance the skills of its faculty and prepare them as per industry standards?

We, as teachers and mentors of our ambitious students, regularly upgrade our knowledge by using different kinds of guides and even students teach us many things on a day-to-day basis while we interact with them during or after classes. In addition to this, University motivates us to participate in various types of training sessions to improve our skills and stay-up-to-date with the latest happenings, trends and requirements of both the educational and industrial world. Hence classrooms and training programs arranged by college are two important factors which we use to prepare ourselves and redesign our teaching methodologies in accordance with the corporate standards.

What do you see as the greatest strengths of Utkal University of Culture?

When our college was established, we were not that strong in terms of technology and students strength, but over time, we have improved facilities here with support of everyone and now we have state-of-the-art infrastructure as one of our greatest strengths. In other words I would say that this time is a golden period for us and we aspire to make best use of it by providing the best quality education, training programs, employment opportunities and values to students.

Any valuable advice which you would like to give to the students for a prosperous career?

I would like to advise my students to always learn new things, keep practicing and upskilling their skills as per changing needs of the outside competitive world. And don't forget your roots while stepping for a new journey and always believe in yourself. Last but not the least, don't lose track of yourselves and keep communicating with everyone to keep progressing forward.
