Which latest program your institute is offering to students to help them stand apart from the crowd?

For the purpose of helping students outperform, our college is offering a 4-years duration Bachelor of Technology course and 2-years duration Master of Technology program in various specializations of Engineering including Electronics and Communication Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electricals and Electronics Engineering and Civil Engineering.

In addition to this, B.Tech program is offered in allied branches of CSE and includes domains like Information Technology, Computer Science and Design, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science and Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. We have also received required approvals for establishing 2 more departments of Computer Science such as Data Science and Cyber security.

Which factors make the programs of your institute a best fit and worth pursuing for students?

Our Undergraduate and Postgraduate programs are a best fit for those students who are passionate about the field of Computer Science and loves to explore its associated domains including Data Science and Cyber Security. And as we all know that Data Scientists tend to know more about machine learning and can create different graphs, so Cyber Security professionals on the other hand work to identify and manage risks and also write scripts in various languages.

Along with this, there are exciting fields like Computer Networks and Cloud Computing and we provide best quality knowledge, practical exposure and networking opportunities to our young and innovative students. So these factors makes our programs a best fit and worth pursuing for students.

Which best practices has your institution adopted to deliver the newly introduced courses to ambitious youths?

We have implemented the Choice Based Credit System where students have the full freedom to choose subjects as per their interest and passion.

And it's a well known fact that CSE Engineering courses ask for a strong knowledge of subjects like Mathematics, Statistics and Programming Languages and other skills like ability to work under pressurized environment and dynamic culture, so along with giving undistributed focus on strengthening theoretical concepts of students, we are providing necessary hands-on training to them so that they can face and lead the competitive world with more confidence.

What are some valuable insights of the programs students are currently pursuing from your college?

We thoroughly analyze the industrial requirements, developments and trends while designing and updating the curriculum of our college every year and to enhance students programming skills and enlighten their knowledge and creativity, events like Hackathons are conducted by us on a frequent basis in collaboration with corporate experts and renowned professionals.

Along with this, industry people are invited to college to deliver value added and professional courses and hands-on training sessions with the aim to give students in-depth knowledge and exposure of industrial demands and enhance their technical and non-technical skills.

How do the programs of your institute ensure the future readiness of students?

We regularly encourage our students to think of innovative ideas and solutions for real-world issues by utilizing college resources, classroom knowledge and opportunities we provide to them from time to time.

And the SPEC SR22 curriculum helps us in this a lot and also in organizing events and activities to inculcate essential skills in students that will benefit them in future.

How did you train yourself and faculty members to efficiently deliver the Engineering programs to students?

For the purpose of enhancing the Knowledge of me and my faculty members, our college organizes knowledge sharing sessions for each department once a week and in-house and external Faculty Development Programs in association with industry experts and renowned professors are also conducted from time to time.

Apart from this, we also invite corporate professionals to deliver interactive sessions and educate teachers on latest technologies so that they can efficiently deliver the Engineering programs to our young and ambitious students.

How do you build a strong connection between your college courses and industry demands?

Our St Peter's Engineering College is in collaboration with leading industries and organizations and has also signed MOUs with them for skill development of students and training them as per industry standards.

Along with this, professional visits are conducted by us from time to time and internships are offered to students to help them utilize their classroom learning in real-world scenarios and since through these apprenticeships our students get to work with corporate professionals, their overall personality also gets developed over time.

What challenges do you usually face while inculcating new programs in your college curriculum?

For us, the biggest challenge is to develop, design and implement a curriculum that is industry driven and incorporate the students needs and aspirations as well, and believe me developing such a robust curriculum which is compliant with AICTE and UGC guidelines and requirements of ever changing and highly competitive industrial world is not at all an easy task.

Hence I firmly believe that educational institutions should have trained curriculum experts on staff to help professors with course development, and deciding its objectives, outcomes and framing of the syllabi by keeping the knowledge required based on the present industry.

On what kinds of projects your students normally work on under their respective courses?

Our students get tremendous opportunities to work on real-time projects and below are some of the domains in which they usually develop their projects.

  • Information and Data Organizing Projects: In this, students collect data from multiple sources such as textbooks, fiction and non-fiction texts and also synthesize different articles around their areas, conduct surveys and prepare designs to explore key questions to derive the output in a particular format such as graphs or charts. And these projects are very helpful in teaching students how to use multiple resources instead of solely using textbooks.
  • Reading/Writing Projects: Under these projects, students usually demonstrate comprehension, understanding and ability to interpret the text. And activities like class discussions around dilemmas, general reactions, interpretive essays, poems and roll plays are conducted around the material read.
  • Problem Solving/Decision Making Projects: These kinds of projects revolve around real-world global scenarios and issues such as pollution, health care, minimization of wastage and water, extra use of natural resources, increasing population in India and around the world as each issue is directly impacting the current and future generations. Decision making projects through simulations of both historical and present-day status decisions are worthwhile projects.
  • Argumentation Projects: After considerable research and discussion about an issue or dilemma, students write an essay or present a paper as per their own understanding and point of view. Also a topic is thoroughly researched with respect to its societal impact.

Apart from this, each student gives their arguments in favor or against of the topic in either oral, written or presentation format in order to figure out the positive and negative consequences of it on society.

What career options would be available to students after pursuing CSE courses from your institute?

As the world is becoming more and more digital, opportunities are increasing day by day in the domain of Computer Science and Engineering. And if we talk specifically about let's say Cyber Security, it deals with protecting data, devices and networks from unlawful use or unauthorized access while ensuring and maintaining the availability, confidentiality and integrity of information.

So students having strong knowledge and exposure of Cyber Security concepts, can work with leading IT organizations as a Cyber Security Analyst, Network Engineer, Systems Engineer, Cryptographer or Ethical Hackers etc.

Along with this, fields like Data Science combine domain expertise, programming skills and the knowledge of subjects like mathematics and statistics to derive actionable, meaningful insights from vast quantities of unstructured data. So individuals who are well-versed with DS concepts can work as Data Analyst, Data Scientist, Data Architect, Machine Learning Engineer or Data Engineer etc.
