As an Associate Professor in Commerce Department my roles and responsibilities towards the students encompass several areas contribute to creating a positive and effective learning environment for our students, helping them succeed academically and preparing them for future challenges in the field of commerce. I typically include a combination of teaching, mentoring, and supporting students overall professional and personal development.

Being the placement head at the college I support students in their career development through training and internships and industry placements. I always believe in making students updated by mentoring and advising, engage them in research activities by integrating technology into my teaching methods
How do you establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty?
Building healthy relationships takes time and effort. Consistency, authenticity, and a genuine interest in the well-being and success of both students and colleagues contribute to the establishment of positive and lasting connections. I keep an open dialog policy with my students by being approachable and accessible to them. I always value the students opinions and contributions. With fellow faculty, I promote collaboration, knowledge sharing, and mutual respect.
How do you introduce a practical and industry-oriented approach towards subjects?
At SSJPGMM we create a conducive learning environment through case Studies and Real-life examples, provide examples of how theoretical concepts are applied in different industries, discuss success stories and challenges faced by professionals in the field.
We regularly invite guest speakers and industry experts, allow students to interact with industry practitioners, ask questions, and gain valuable perspectives through internships and Practical Assignments. Moreover, we encourage students to work on projects that have direct applications in the industry. We also organise field trips and site visits for science and other professional students.
Variety of MOUs and Collaboration with Industry Partners allow industry professionals to contribute to curriculum development and encourage faculty as well as students to stay connected with industry developments through conferences, workshops, and networking events.
How do you strategize and update the curriculum to make it befitting for the students?
As an affiliated college of UOR, our influence on the university's syllabus is limited. However, we prioritize instilling creativity and innovation in our teaching methods. To enhance the curriculum's relevance, I employ a comprehensive strategy. Firstly, I extensively research emerging trends in commerce. This guides the identification of crucial areas for curriculum integration. Seeking feedback from students, industry professionals, and alumni helps me understand evolving needs. I make adjustments based on this input, ensuring alignment with industry standards. Collaborating with fellow faculty members, we share best practices and incorporate innovative teaching methodologies, enriching the overall educational experience.
What are your views on the placements and higher education of the students from your department?
Students should be given access to all relevant information regarding placements and postsecondary education.
Through work placement, students may apply the theory they have learned in college to real-world work situations as well as acquire additional knowledge and abilities that will be useful in their future jobs.
We actively collaborate with industry partners to facilitate internships, industry placements, and campus recruitment drives. Furthermore, we help students who are interested in pursuing higher education find appropriate programs and schools by offering advice and support. Our aim is to guarantee that our students have sufficient prospects for placements and are well prepared to pursue higher education within their preferred professions by cultivating strong industry links and offering comprehensive career guidance.

Which strategy do you use to help students to cope with this competitive world?
A diverse approach is necessary to give graduating college students the tools they need to succeed in a cutthroat environment. To begin with, cultivating a growth mentality is essential. One way to assist students develop resilience is to encourage them to view setbacks as chances for growth and learning. A real-world perspective should be provided by integrating practical exposure through internships, workshops, and industry connections with the academic curriculum. Emphasis should be placed on developing crucial soft skills like communication, critical thinking, and adaptability in addition to academic prowess in order to improve employability. Mentorship programs that pair up students with seasoned professionals offer insightful advice and invaluable insights into navigating the workplace. Furthermore, fostering a global consciousness via study abroad initiatives or cross-border partnerships expands viewpoints and empowers learners to prosper in a multifaceted and linked world.
What extracurricular activities are organized in college to enhance the skills of the students?
In our college, we organize a variety of extracurricular activities to enhance the skills of the students. We conduct workshops and seminars on a variety of topics, including multidisciplinary topics promoting research and innovations, emerging technologies, & other current trends & issues prevailing in the industry, encouraging learners to learn more than what is taught in the curriculum. Every year, we organize inter-college fests, conferences, and other sports competitions for the students. Students are encouraged to participate in national and international-level events every year. Additionally, we encourage students to participate in intercollegiate events and conferences, providing them with opportunities to network and gain exposure to the wider industry. Entrepreneurship workshops and leadership development programs are also arranged to foster innovation and enhance their managerial skills. Overall, these activities promote holistic skill development and prepare students for a well-rounded professional journey.
Which challenges are you facing to uplift the quality of education of your department?
I face several challenges in uplifting the quality of education. In our efforts to improve educational quality, our commerce department encounters a number of obstacles. The quickly changing corporate environment is a major barrier, necessitating frequent curriculum modifications to keep up with market trends. Because some educational institutions are traditional in design, it might be difficult to adjust to technological improvements and include real-world, practical events into the coursework. A curriculum that strikes a balance between local demands and global viewpoints is made more difficult by the globalization of commerce. In order to guarantee that education is accessible to people from all socioeconomic situations, the department addresses concern of inclusivity and accessibility. We regularly & continuously plan the things very strategically, to overcome these obstacles.
What are the approaches you bring in apart from curriculum to teach students?
