Prof. Anil K Saini is the Professor and Dean of the University School of Management Studies (USMS), Director - Industry Interaction Cell and Director-Development of GGSIP University, NewDelhi. He was appointed as a professor in 2007. He is the Member Secretary of the Indraprastha Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IIQAC) of the University. Prof. Saini is a Post-Graduate in Physics, Computers and Management. He obtained his doctorate (Ph.D.) from FMS Delhi University in the area of Information Systems. Before joining USMS, he held a senior academic position at FMS, University of Delhi. He carries with him a blend of industrial and academic experience of more than 35 years out of which six years in the industry in responsible capacities. Dr. Saini has to his credit sixteen published/edited books and over 110+ papers in national and international journals/conferences. He has travelled extensively abroad and has visited Europe under the Teacher-Exchange Programme for teaching courses abroad.He has guided more than 18 Ph.D. theses. He is a member of the Board of Studies/Advisory/Editorial Board of several Universities and Institutions and reputed Journals. He is a trained NAAC Assessor.
His interests include Information Systems, Databases, Technology and Innovation Management, Knowledge Management, and Healthcare systems. He is a Fellow and Senior member of several Professional societies such as the Computer Society of India, the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE), All India Management Association (AIMA), Operational Research Society of India (ORSI), etc. Prof. Saini has served as Secretary and Chairman IETE Delhi Centre, Hony. Treasurer of IETE during 2010-12, Chairman - Board of Examination, Zonal Coordinator, Chairman - Publications Committee (2018-19) (2020-21), and is currently the Vice President of IETE. Dr. Saini also serves as an Independent Director in a Section 8 company of the ICAI.
What motivated you to choose a path in higher education administration and what attracted you to your current position as Dean?
My motivation for choosing a path in higher education administration stems from my fulfilment in leading and contributing to the growth and success of an educational institution. I am passionate about building and utilising my leadership skills to make a positive impact. Moreover, my passion for education drives me to excel in this field. Additionally, I have a good network within the industry, which allows me to foster valuable connections. I believe in fulfilling my societal responsibility and approaching my work with a global perspective.

How do you tend to establish a relation with the students being the principal/Dean of the University Department? How do you make yourself available to them?
The Dean utilises various mechanisms and channels to foster open communication with students. It includes organising regular meetings, student forums, suggestion boxes, and email, providing students with direct avenues to voice their concerns, suggestions, and feedback. Additionally, student representation is encouraged through involvement in decision-making processes.
