Being a Facilitator of the Department, what are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

I have numerous roles and responsibilities. I need to work at supporting the students in learning and checking their activities in learning, like attendance, assignments, and internal exams. I also motivate the students to participate in various learning activities and extracurricular activities beyond academics, such as sports and events in other colleges. I guide the students to face interviews improve their skills and make them follow the rules and regulations of the college strictly inside the campus. We also help the students with their mental and physical sickness, hear them out and take the necessary actions for the students' difficulties. I also work at arranging seminars, lectures, and industrial visits to improve students’ educational skills.

How do you tend to establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty?

For healthy relationships, the students should get permission from the class in charge before getting permission from the facilitator. We require them to have every situation communicated to their class teacher. For an action taken by the students, the class teacher should be aware of the situation and they should know the details of the students. If the students are irregular at the college, the faculty will insist on making calls with their parents.

How do you try to bring in practical approach towards subjects and make it industry oriented?

We bring in industry experts to share their experiences in the industry so that the students can improve their skills. Students are allowed to express their talents by making projects and participating in project expo events. We also arrange industrial visits so that they understand how projects are developed in an industry and which skills they need to stand out for potential employers.

What are your views upon the placements and higher education about the students from your department or how does your department prepare students for higher education?

Our students are not aware of placements. Hence, it is necessary to give them information and knowledge of the placement process. We also insist on them attending interviews for jobs and internships for which they receive intense training and tips and tricks to prepare them for interviews. Our students are also encouraged to pursue higher studies.

How do you help your student to cope up with the competition being so high in the outside world?

We help our students face the intense competition in the market through communication skills, which are a big part of cracking job interviews. We help them improve their logical thinking and also arrange industrial visits. Our students practice aptitude concepts by arranging internships and completing projects.

Do you have any extracurricular activities/ programs to enhance the skills of the students or expose them to real-world challenges?

We have numerous extracurricular activities planned throughout the year. Some such activities include participation in the “Back to Manchapai” programme to raise awareness about the use of plastics. Our students have also participated in the “Posh” awareness program to attain knowledge about gender equity, the “Thadam Project Expo,” and exhibits where they showcase their talents through different projects. Our students have also presented papers at other college national conferences taken part in various intercollegiate competitions and won prizes.

What are the challenges you faced/ are facing to uplift the quality of education of your department?

Our biggest challenge is that students do not have an awareness of the importance of attendance. We try to give them motivation and insist on their regularly attending classes. Additionally, the students are not confident about attending job interviews for which they are motivated through mock interviews and grooming sessions.

When you came to the college, what was your vision and how are you trying to achieve the same?

When I first joined the college, I wanted to provide students with the information, abilities, morals, and empathy they needed to overcome obstacles in their personal and academic lives. I also want them to maximize human potential to take advantage of many future chances. Moreover, I wanted to improve the recently implemented teaching and learning process for staff, faculty, and students, along with implementing human values and making students understand human values.

How does the curriculum of your department/college ensure the best practice of the industry?

Our curriculum has programming languages each semester for our students to learn the coding which is used for software development. The curriculum has been updated to include new trending topics in the field of Computer Science such as Machine Learning, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, and Cloud computing which helps the students cope with the industry. Our curriculum also has papers to make the students improve in networking, computer hardware, web development, Software engineering and testing.

How does the department enhance the skills of the faculty and prepares them according to the industry standards?

The college is encouraging the faculty to attend various faculty development training programs to obtain new concepts and update their knowledge. We are also motivated to learn swayam, and NPTEL courses to improve our skills. We encourage the faculty to present and publish papers in national and international conferences, books and journals. Our teachers also attend workshops, seminars and workshops regularly to keep their knowledge to par.

What are the interventions and approaches you bring in apart from curriculum to train/teach the students?

We conduct class committee meetings with the students to find out the difficulties they face in the classroom. We also have class representative meetings to plan for the events to be executed in the department. Our third-year students voluntarily take classes after class hours to build their resume, learn how to face the interview, introduce themselves and improve their aptitudes. We have arranged programs with industrial experts to raise awareness about the industry and seminars to learn to code. Moreover, we have remedial classes for the students in their weak subjects.

What do you see the department’s greatest strengths and how can it be enhanced?

Our greatest strengths would be our highly qualified staff members and the dedicated work they put into their classes. There is unity in work among all colleagues and we operate on transparency. We have students volunteering in different activities in college and in the industry so that they pick up essential skills necessary to work in the industry.

What valuable advice would you like to the students for them to have a prosperous career ahead?

I would advise students to approach learning with sincerity and dedication to achieve their goals. They must be accountable for the money spent by the parents by putting in the work and getting results. Students must also be respectful to the teachers who work hard for their futures.
