Dr. S. Srinivasa Rao is the Principal at Malla Reddy College Of Engineering and Technology. He has completed his B.tech in Electronics & Communication Engineering from one of the top engineering colleges in India, Madras Institute of Technology, Chennai. He did his M.Tech in Digital Systems & Computer Electronics from JNTU College of Engineering, Hyderabad. He did his Ph.D. from JNTU University, Hyderabad in Wireless Communications. He has 25 years of teaching experience in various reputed engineering colleges in AP & Telangana. He has published over 20 research papers in international journals and presented 30 papers at international/ national conferences/ seminars/ symposiums. He has also conducted various workshops/ seminars/ conferences/ fdps.

With over 25 years of experience in teaching and administration, you’ve held various positions throughout your journey. How has this diverse experience shaped your educational philosophy and leadership style?

A diverse experience opens new opportunities for innovation, creativity, and growth. Some benefits of diverse leadership include broader perspectives and ideas, improved decision-making, a better understanding of stakeholders, and increased employee engagement and retention. It helped me set clear expectations, assess team members’ skills, and empower them to make decisions and take ownership of their work. I could maintain open communication, hold team members accountable, and provide mentorship for their growth and development.

With over 20 research papers published in international journals and 30 research papers presented at conferences, how does your research expertise in Wireless Communications translate into benefits for the students and faculty at Malla Reddy College of Engineering and Technology?

My research experience in Wireless Communications has benefited my students and faculty at Malla Reddy College of Engineering and Technology to have broad competence, knowledge, and skills, acquired through research, education, experience, and practice in Wireless Communications.

In this regard, we have established the Centre of Excellence Lab in Artificial Intelligence in association with Intel Unnati under which various trainings, internships, and projects are provided to both students and faculty. Being an autonomous college, various Industry Experts are nominated as BOS members so that cutting-edge knowledge-related courses can be incorporated into the curriculum.

The vision of the college is to establish a pedestal for the integral innovation, team spirit, originality, and competence in the students, expose them to global challenges, and become pioneers of the Indian vision of modern society. To fulfill the vision, the college is implementing the best practices in the Teaching and Learning process for both UG and PG courses meticulously, providing state-of-the-art infrastructure and expertise to impart quality education, grooming the students to become intellectually creative and professionally competitive, channelizing the activities and tuning them in heights of commitment and sincerity, the requisites to claim the never-ending ladder of success year after year.

Industry people are nominated as BOS members, Academic Council Members, and Governing Body to have value-added suggestions for the betterment of academics. Certifications are provided to students at various intervals of time during their academics and nurture them to be industry-ready engineers.

How do you envision encouraging extracurricular activities and promoting the overall growth of students during their time at the college?

Malla Reddy College of Engineering and Technology has a perspective plan to grow into a ‘Centre of Excellence’ through new initiatives by creating world-class infrastructure, expanding international collaborations, developing innovative programs, establishing industrial tie-ups, recruiting well-qualified and trained faculty, promoting talent, nurturing the research and innovation and also fostering the outreach activities with sustainable fund flow. The college provides excellent sports and games facilities in cricket, football, throwball, basketball and indoor games. Our students have excelled in sports and games and are champions at university and national-level events. The college has an excellent Gym facility for both students and faculty.

What valuable advice would you like to the students for them to have a prosperous career ahead?

Education is the architecture of the soul. The motivating environment for knowledge assimilation, generation, and dissemination with a sense of social responsibility, human values, and concern for social commitment has to be carved by each student. The special emphasis is to be focused on Outcome Based Education (OBE) and Experiential Learning. Every student must be aware that excellence is a continuous process and in pursuit of this, the students can make deep forays to becoming world-renowned technocrats, successful entrepreneurs, competent leaders, innovative scientists, and researchers. Everybody should ensure that they are responsible and ideal citizens of our country.
