Dr. R Sampath is the HoD/ CSE Department of the Dhaanish Ahmed College of Engineering, Chennai. He has done his Doctorate with specialisation in Medical Image Processing, Classification, Machine Learning, and Wireless Body Sensors. He has more than 15 years of astonishing experience in the field of teaching. He joined as an Assistant Professor and now heading the CSE department. He considers teaching a Nobel profession and a ladder for the upcoming generations.

Being a Head of Department of CSE, what are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

Being the Head of the Department, my major role would be considering the career of students and to give the maximum knowledge to concur society.

How do you tend to establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty?

I always open the doors of the cabin, so that the students should come and discuss their careers and sometimes personal issues where I can help them. Showing them the right path to success is my success in having bonded with the students.

How do you try to bring in a practical approach towards subjects and make it industry oriented?

Students and faculties are given the right direction and approach to subjects and we always have some international conferences or eminent speaker’s speeches. We also signed up some top industries where the students and faculty have their live practical sessions to upgrade their knowledge.

What are the best practices offered by the department to the students which help them gain the necessary skills?

We have signed some of the top MNC companies where they come and give live projects and we also give some projects designed by them and obviously under the supervision of faculties so that the students will get hands-on experience and they can increase their knowledge.

What are your views on the placements and higher education about the students from your department or how does your department prepare students for Higher education?

In our college, our department students are placed in top companies and have the weightage of 100% of students are placed every year. We prepare the students both practically and theoretically so that the students have the confidence of attending the placement drive.

Do you have any extracurricular activities/ programs to enhance the skills of the students or expose them to real-world challenges?

Yes, we encourage students in sports, Paper presentations, conferences, and other various activities conducted in our college and we allow students to explore and allow them to participate in other college cultural activities.

What message would like to give to existing students and upcoming students who join your department?

I always say whatever knowledge we have learned both practically and theoretically should be shared with the students. And I insist my faculties be on the toe of upgrading the new things which come in the market. This will help the students to give the best knowledge and when they go out of our college, they should feel that they win the race.

How does the department/ college/University enhance the skills of the faculty and prepares them according to the industry standards?

I should thank my management for giving me space to learn and execute. They never hesitate to implement new ideas and they will stand with us for everything.
